One of the things that has always made my blood boil is when a little boy takes a tumble and people automatically stay telling him he is okay and to walk it off before they even know if he is hurt or not. At least make sure he hasn't broken anything before you push him to man up, idiots. Girls on the other hand get babied even if they barely stumble. My Mom used to make me so mad when I would fall. She would make me sit down so she could make sure I wasn't hurt while telling my cousins to walk it off sometimes when they were really hurting.

THIS. My son was shouted at by the teacher for crying at school. He was four. She did it so often that I took him out of that school. At the next school the same thing. Female teachers were so hard on him, just turned five. The very same people who claim to want boys to be more gentle would be sweet to girls and terrorize boys. This went on, getting worse as he got older. Boys don't just decide to be angry, defiant and defensive - they are pushed to it. If society wants gentle men, we are going to have to start being nicer to boys.
