When I was in the waiting room for day surgery a few months ago, they had up a poster about how herbs and natural medicines interact with hospital drugs and procedures. It was pretty extraordinary and terrifying to read. Herbs and supplements and whatnot count when you list your medications!

I live this as well - cancer patients come in with even weirder med lists, and after none of the "natural" remedies have worked and they're out $20,000 from doing down to mexico for some shark liver oil treatment, they finally come knocking at western medicine's door and we're expected to save them. just like she said above, it's absolutely exhausting. this post is spot-on.

I am very into herbals and a very few other alternative medicines. however, I try not to tell people about this or if I do get specific about what I use. Because of this. Too many people think if they read a paragraph on Pinterest or their friend Becky's mom's next door neighbor "discovered " a really great supplement she can get "at cost," that's all they need to know. And will argue about it like its the edge of the earth. They refuse to hear or understand that any therapy has counter indications, toxicities, allergies, interactions, etc. Even water has a toxicity point (look up hyponatremia). Alternative therapies do work, occasionally even better than traditional medicine, but you still have to be just as careful and aware. And make sure your herbalist and Doctor both know what you are taking. if your herbalist acts as if its not necessary they know your meds, run.

Stay away from Herbalife! At their promotion events they are very friendly towards you, but you will notice quite quickly that their friendliness is not genuine: they are mainly interested in your money and the money of your network, not (or very limited) in your health.

Ugh, this makes me so angry. I had a friend from back in the day I had been thinking about and wanting to connect with, so found her on Facebook and we friended. I should have known better when I saw that she was a Norwex consultant (and the regional selling champ, or whatever they call it). I sent her a PM saying how fun it was to reconnect, asking how she'd been doing with her new life (her husband had died right before we moved away, and apparently she'd remarried), etc. She only wanted to sell me her products. When I told her I already had a consultant or whatever (I mean, to be fair, I did participate in a niece's online party), she ASKED ME THE NAME OF THE CONSULTANT (I was able to give it to her), still tried to push her business on me, and when I told he I was NOT interested in her business, but WAS interested in finding out more about how she was doing and reconnecting as FRIENDS ... never heard from her again. Talk about feeling used.

Damn...I understand MLM is tiresome and slimy, but sometimes people are just trying out different ways to make a living until they can figure things out. Just say no and move on, no need to try to crush them.

I ruined a friendship because I refused to sell Arbonne. My friend knew I was trying to make extra money so had her other friend hit me up to sell. I wasn’t interested as I knew it was just a pyramid scheme and she got so mad she quit being friends with my friend. I think I did her a favor tbh

You can trust essential oils if used correctly. Like essential mint can help against mild stomach ache and help against mild headache. Or essential cloves can help against mild tooth-ache etc. They are for soothing not healing. But of course they can't help against bacterias or viruses or Tumors or what ever those antivaxxers want us to believe.
