"Why did you put a poor fish in a glass?" was the first question my dad asked me when he saw a glass I painted. It was the biggest compliment a girl could want.

I started painting as soon as I could hold a paintbrush in my hand. I never stopped until my hands were too busy holding my baby and had to take a step back. But it was not long until we started to paint together (how I loved those happy and messy days!).

As he grew, my son became fascinated with fish. One day, he asked me to buy him a fish. We couldn't afford a fish tank so I got an idea. I painted one, as realistic as I could, on a sippy cup. It became his favorite toy, so of course, it didn't have a long life.

But that's how I started painting realistic fish on glass and I didn't stop there. I took everything from my kitchen cabinets and tried to give them a new life through my paintbrush. Now I paint on everything I get my hands on. It's become therapeutic for me and, as long as my hands don't give in, I'll never stop.

I'm a Romanian artist. I always knew I wanted to be one, as I never even played a doctor or princess as a little girl. I just painted.

After I graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts, Bucharest, I struggled to make a living on what I loved most: art. I worked in graphic design and web design and even was a cake decorator for a while. I met my husband, who is a church painter, quit my job at that time and left with him to paint together and pursue my dream.

Do you sell these somewhere? If not, I think you would get a lot of business if you started an Etsy shop or something. I know I would pay quite a bit for some of these awesome creations!!

Since I started painting on glass, I've also discovered other surfaces. I paint on mirrors, wooden boxes, and vases, upcycling them into ethereal artworks. I also love painting fantasy art and telling little stories on canvas. My social media and Etsy shop grew steadily, so I've been able to get closer to my dream of becoming an independent artist.

That's great for parties! I now know which one is my glass without having to write my name on it.

It depends on the complexity of the painting, but it usually takes me a few hours to complete the image and a day for the varnish to dry completely. I use non-toxic acrylics and varnish for protection. I only apply it (with a small brush) on the painted surface, so the glass remains clear.

Imagine not knowing this was a painting and drinking then noticing and spitting all the water then realizing it was a painting ☜(˚▽˚)☞

I hope readers know that every handmade item comes with love and a little piece of the artist's soul. Supporting a small art business is helping a person get closer to a dream.

I know it's a cliche, but it is true that if you work really hard and don't give up, with a little patience, you will succeed, no matter how impossible it seems now.

Wonderfully realistic. It's understandable your sweet dad was concerned.
