An owl cafe in Tokyo, Japan, lets its customers spend time with these majestic birds. Visitors to Ikefukurou can pet or take photos with the owls for 1400 yen (11.5 USD) per hour during the week, or 1600 yen (13 USD) on weekends. Owl owners can bring their birds, too, or if you don’t have an owl but want one, you can buy one through the local breeder.
“Ikefukurou” combines the name of the town, Ikebukuro, and Fukuro, owl in Japanese. Customers who visit the cafe are first briefed on safety rules and animal welfare before they can handle a bird. An American eagle-owl, mottled owl, tawny owl, vermiculated eagle-owls, several species of scops owl and a tropical screech owl are amongst the possible choices offered to customers. Fruit juice or beer is available for refreshment.

Share on FacebookI don´t like this... They should be free and not bounded pets for humans joy..
Owls have clipped claws and probably dulled beaks. They don't even attempt to fly, which is weird. And they are kept in this tiny room. And what's with this string anyway? They may be cute, but they are still wild animals. Why people doesn't realise that this place is wrong? (And I don't like the idea of breeders just selling owls like that to anyone.)
i agree with u but they most likely arent just giving them to anybody im fairly certain they need to have permits or somthing, there are hedgehogs breeders and skunk breeders in the US that do that kind of thing
Load More Replies...Nope. Nope. Nope. Breeding animals for profit ALWAYS ends badly for the animals in the long run. This is an entirely unnatural environment for them. Their needs can't be met here.
Owls are nocturnal creatures. No wonder these poor birds look so out-of-it. This is animal cruelty.
Horrible. All of it. I’ve worked with owls and this is not what they are meant for. At least from the pictures they seem to be getting proper (ish) care, but in no way should there wings be clipped and having them available from a breeder??? Ugh.
Stunning pictures of beautiful creatures out of their natural habitat. Sad what people do for amusement. Basically a zoo for owls :(
Humans r so stupid sometimes, they don't look mean, but idiot. Sorry!
I like the idea but the birds don't look so happy. Need more trees ,not leashed. Very sad environment. Plz change
Wrong on so many counts........ One day maybe someone will see sense........
No no no no! This is soo wrong and horrible. Why can't people leave wild animals where they belong - in the WILD?!!
The wings are clipped are very visible of the owl on the "rug branche" . How unnatural can this get. Birds are not toys, do you that? Whales are not meant to be eaten, eat Tofu instead. Wildlife is disappearing faster every year, and those who are lost for ever will never be replaced by any human. Why don't you read a book, do sports, take a walk , anything but maltreat animals as if they were just toys for humans! Shame on you all.
Please, let us not come up with NEW ways of exploiting animals. I get the concept of the cat cafe, as they're trying to find homes for shelter cats, but to take what should *not* be a domesticated animal and make it spend its days so far from it's natural habitat...no.
I'm disappointed in Bored Panda for this article. This is not cute, but cruel.
Perhaps it's a good thing to know about, so that we can react about it. If enough people write how horrible it is to treat wild animals like toys, some might change their awful ways.
