In the past few years, drawing scenes from conversations I overhear has become my way of combining my love of satirical cartoons and creating an illustrated time capsule of this strange time we live in. Having lived in Los Angeles for the past few years, I've witnessed trends come and go. Hipster mustaches were replaced with man buns, yoga studios started to invite goats to their classes, and online dating became more hellish than ever.

It was suggested that I add a picture to my profile with a pet, I didn't have one so I found a picture of me on a trip with a monkey. My fiancee picked me to talk to because I had a pic of a monkey on my shoulder. She wanted to know if I was afraid that it would rip my face off.

As a celiac, it's quite possible this is the only way to get the avocado from what is on the menu. I have to do similar very often. Ask for just a burger patty and they go nuts, we can't just sell you a burger patty you have to order the whole burger. Sure, great, so long as that patty and anything else on the plate has never touched a bun or bread of any type. Otherwise, I'll be violently, explosively ill in 10 minutes and it lasts for 2 weeks. Not to mention the auto-immune response this triggers that is literally destroying my body.

@Lsai Aeon and M.J. It must be nearly impossible for you to enjoy a simple meal out with friends. I'm so sorry. A friend of my daughter has celiac and I remember how sick she would be. I wish people wouldn't jump on a trend like this because there are people out there, like you, who need to take celiac and food allergies very very seriously. Stay well.

I really miss a comic about all the Instagrammers going to some famous place just to make a picture which only has been done about 1 million times before and all of them with the moron looking like a ..... moron.

I don't think they're all supposed to be funny. Sometimes people say funny things, sometimes they say things that you for some reason remember. Sometimes an overheard conversation just gives you an insight into somebody's life.
