It’s a type of chafer. They’re related to scarab beetles.

Tried to Google Bumblebee, beetle. Damned transformer movie obscured the results. Bumblebee scarab? Paydirt! That's exactly what it's called. The larva is much less cute, the cranberry root grub. Beautiful picture of it, by the way. Type species (the one that a group is named after) is Lichnanthe vulpina,

I basically make about $6,000-$8,000 a month online. It’s enough to comfortably replace my old jobs income, especially considering I only work about 10-13 hours a week from home. I was amazed how easy it was after I tried it….. ===))> 𝐖𝐰𝐰.𝐅𝐮𝐥𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤.𝐂𝐨𝐦

True story, I was traveling. Passed a rest area on my way north. It was outside Huntsville Alabama. There were visible from the interstate, rockets on display. So on my way home I made a point of stopping there. It was summer and about 2am. So it's well lit, and I'm walking around looking at this lunar capsule. A couple other guys were there, separately looking at them also, when I noticed a Luna Moth on the lunar capsule. And I said "look, a luna moth!" The one guy looked at me like I was making it up, then the other guy says, no that's really what it is. So long ago pre cell phone. Would have loved to have had a pic!]

Here's a little blip I found about them. "The spotted lanternfly causes serious damage including oozing sap, wilting, leaf curling and dieback in trees, vines, crops and many other types of plants. In addition to plant damage, when spotted lanternflies feed, they excrete a sugary substance, called honeydew, that encourages the growth of black sooty mold."

It is "indigenous to parts of Southern China, Taiwan, and Vietnam, and has spread invasively to Japan, South Korea, and the United States." I live in Pennsylvania and our park service has flyers up asking for reports of sightings so they can try to track and eliminate them.

In our house jumping spiders are always welcome, they don't get big, they don't bite and they eat all the nasty silverfish. Only when they're at the door do we let them out.

NOOOOOO! I’ve been trying to become less arachnophobic—and mostly succeed—but extreme close-ups of huge *hairy* spiders is the stuff my nightmares are made of!

No need to fear this little chap, they only grow to be around 10mm long! It's fascinating to see them stalk their prey and then pounce like a cat. This one was on our conservatory window sill ( in the U.K )

Just a note on naming conventions… true flies are always two words, like house fly or bot fly. Other non-Dipterous flying insects are named with one word, like dragonfly, butterfly, or in this case, scorpionfly.

Fun tip: True bugs (although "bug" is a common nickname for any insect, it is actually a specific group of insects) are fairly easy to identify by the triangular shape on their back, which you can see here quite well. It's caused by the angle that their wings fold over.
