Autism is talked about quite often, but very rarely is it portrayed in media, and even more rarely do we see it explained properly. That's where this amazing comics creator known as AspiGurl comes in. She creates funny, quirky, and sweet comics about her life and the struggles she runs into as an autistic girl. We get to read the comics and better understand from the view of a person with the developmental disorder.
The comics are colorful and have unexpected endings. The illustrations will probably make you laugh and relate many times. It's interesting to see the perspective of someone who sees social events, situations, and everyday life from a different perspective.

as an autistic person i think this expresses how people focus on the people with a high amount of autism it makes me sick i have autism and that's ok
Load More Replies...People with Aspergers have emotions, they're just are not very good at being able to analyse and deal with them in an 'appropriate'* manner. I call it my emotional blindness * Regarding 'appropriate', refer to 'normal' people.
I haven't been diagnosed with autism yet, but I have ADHD and I express my emotions strongly. ADHD people and people with autism have feelings, you are right.
Load More Replies...Agreed. But some of wish we didn't as life feels like it might be easier that way
Load More Replies...Yeah, no inteligence, no empathy, no emotions, no reactions, no understanding of everything ... Yeah yeah, we know the song, we're empty on the inside.
The fact that we sometimes don't show our feelings does not mean we don't have feelings.
Aspigurl told us more about when and why she started creating these comics: "I had the idea for the comic back in 2018. It was almost April and I was kind of dreading the usual ableist posts that we always see around that time for Autism Awareness Month. My husband wtframecomics, who illustrates the comic, and I decided to post a comic each day of that April and we just kept making them!"
@imposter autistic people like to have a routine, which includes eating/doing a lot of the same things. Even though it may seem unnatural to some people, like yourself, it's normal to people who are autistic(like me). I usually have a burrito.
Even a lot of neurotypical people have the same breakfast everyday, or almost.
Load More Replies...I have the same thing for breakfast almost every morning as well lol
I know this because I had a friend who had autism. Sometimes people with Autism like to make a process every day so what she might have is her process for breakfast is making toast with Jam. And that's sometimes the reason why they have the same thing every day.
if I could do this, I would. My cats are far better companions than some of the people I know
She also told us what motivated her to keep creating these comics: "One of the biggest motivations for making the comic is to give other autistic people content to relate to and maybe even illustrations that might help explain and express their lived experiences (same for non-autistics: it can help them have another point of view on autism.)"
i do that with my pokemon cards they're organized by color and alphabetically
She must be a Virgo or something lol. (Just a joke. I'm in my zodiac phase.)
Intense sensitivity to sound is a common autism symptom...
Load More Replies...On her website, Aspigurl describes herself as "a comic putting forward the voice of autistic people through anecdotes or reflections from everyday life. As there are as many autisms as there are autistic people, it seemed important to us to put forward this diversity by also receiving comic suggestions from autistic readers."
It's ok, nobody knows where to look when crammed in an elevator full of strangers
I usually ignore it my brain hates me so much I'll forget something like homework then at like 3:00 in the morning i remember my homework and have to do a overnighter
anxious bout not being anxious........................................................i'll keep that in mind.................it could work
What do you think of these comics? Have they taught you anything new about autism and how people living with this disorder see the world? Perhaps you have autism yourself and can share your side and view? Tell us in the comments down below and don't forget to follow the artist on her social media!
How odd. I also always turn down music or pause audio books while trying to concentrate on driving
She can't focus on finding the address while having music on.
Load More Replies...As an autistic myself, this is very true. I'm either interested in the music I'm listening to or the outside world. No in between.
Same. That's why I don't like background music, but it seems to be everywhere in public places like restaurants or mails...
Load More Replies...This is true for most people. It has to do with allocating your brain's focus.
I am procrastinating right now, actually. I should probably get to work
It reads RESPONSABILITIES, not RESPONSIBILITIES, is it a typo or diff meaning?
Me, late on my dissertation, haven't posted art in months, bills to pay...but I gotta organize my movie library and read memes. :D
When I was 5, I told my mother that my least favorite word was "responsibility." That's still true more than 45 years later.
I have always hated being photographed. When somebody calls for a group photo, that's when I get a convenient "call of Nature."
Ugh, I can relate to this so much. I always look so horrible in photos. Especially in selfies. Do you know how freakin' hard it is to smile on purpose!?
I frequently tidy up store shelves and clothes racks. One time a saleslady thanked me for picking up fallen clothes and putting them back on hangars.
I'm not sure what the other woman expects. She got her answer.
Order. OCD. Like with like & facing the same direction in line. - Mostly posting this for those who didn’t get it. - Visual chaos = a very loud brain & the inability to focus. This would be like turning down loud music you hate when you are highly irritated & tired, then turning to a station you like.
yeah my brother slurps so much and chews so loudly and idk why he doesnt get why i am yelling at him
Yea it is, it's awful to have :/
Load More Replies...Nah, I don't think it's quite the same. I have autism as well and in situations like this I just about want to stab myself in the ear canal. I've had really bad panic attacks, lashed out and hit someone, and in one extreme situation bit down on my arm until it bled because there was a noise that bothered me. (Also, it's generally considered a pretty big no-no to say things like this. I don't think you meant it this way but it's pretty ableist and has been used to silence and mock people with disabilities by basically saying they're either making it up or just weak for not being able to "handle it".)
Load More Replies...Haha I can relate x) My colleague tells me he does "cookie asmr" for me when he is eating a cookie on voice channel. Happily there are not chewing sounds, just few crispy sounds, which is ok with me. Every time he says "cookie asmr" I explain about slurping / chewing sounds make me want to kill people (even if he knows, just a preventive reminder). And we laugh together. Understanding people <3
Aaaaaaaaand this is why we never have done with Covid (in France, anyway...)
and almost everywhere else in the world too -- too many idiots in every country
Load More Replies...Exactly - this is why people need to understand and question the rules to get the reasons behind them and thus be able to enforce the ones that are fair and change the ones that are not
Load More Replies...Me, in these pandemic times, walking outside and observing the wild, mask less crowds.
This is one of my favorite things about autistic people. They don't do bullshit. Lol
I don't know anyone who does that but I would hate it as well
Load More Replies...My mum can't seem to understand why I like to put things where I want them to be-
Same. I don't understand how people still call you before warning first. Given the times we're living in, this is just plain rude.
Load More Replies...This is just common sense. You can report dodgy calls on several websites.
yeah, me most of the time. Usually, if you look up the number later on, its a marketing bot or some other bs.
it just makes me so mad because then teachers see other kids who are neurotypical and then think that it's a toy so they take it away and we kids who have nonvisible disabilities have a hard time.
i have yet to get a fidget cube- but im not autistic just fidgety and i dont have ADHD lol
i believe that people neurotypical people do not need fidgets and im neurodiverse by the way with autism
Load More Replies...What makes me angry is that people have fidget toys when they don't need them. She has autism and I don't know if your friend has autism you too, but they make it so when I go into a store to buy fidgets for myself when I need them there's none left.
How do you know that they don't need them? If someone needs, this person knows it, not others.
Load More Replies...It goes a little deeper with autism. With autistic people, it's called masking and many do it when they're in any type of social situation because our default settings so to speak can freak people out.
Load More Replies...No need asthma or... I'm just pretty ok with that. Now we have an excuse. ET0KQEOWsA...52d600.jpg
I think I've lived my life just waiting for a quarantine! I'm really anxious about having to go out again...
I feel like I've been training for quarantine all my life. My routine has changed very little. I'm totally happy to stay home by myself.
I live in Chicago, too many people living on top of one another to simply go out to a park and be able to social distance. I don't miss dealing with people but I really miss being out under a tree! (Have Asthma + Vulnerable Neighbors + COVID = no outdoor time at all)
Australia state of Victoria here - previously known as covid central by locals. Long tough lockdown. Thing is it WORKS. Hold on! You are not alone. This is something entire world is going through. ( I liked the lock down also, FINALLY local shops started deliveries ). Just wanted to dump an encouragement to you all. Nobody likes living in a pandemic.
I agree but also as an autistic person my phone keeps me calm and content.
Load More Replies...Might explain why I charge my phone like 4 times a day, even though I only use it to read in the toilet or before bed. :)
Those new headphones remidn me of the walkman in Hunt For The Wilderpeople
Ooooh...This is that moment when I go to part of my brain where the music is stored and listen for Mahler symphonies and Khachaturian piano and violin concertos(sometimes also his 2nd symphony). Worst part is that I dont feel moment when humming along steps in. Just imagine a 33 yo guy sitting on public transport or totally anywhere in his own dimension and humming/singing not so commonly known classical masterpieces.
Its funny because I used to put a laundry basket on my head because it made me comfortable
this reminded me of hocus pocus, the disney movie and how that one witch was riding on a vaccum cleaner
Social battery drained, explosion of solitude happening in three...two....one..
That's me every day....... My battery lasts about 4 hours, then I die socially. Am on disability pay now.
I am a night owl, so i have more energy at night, and my parents were surprised when i had had a really bad and grumpy day that i just got up at noon and started being active and preparing for the next day... All my aspis... UR ALL VALID!!!!
Yup, I know the feeling. People drain my battery. I can only recharge it with ME time.
Oof this is the worst when at work, I can feel a breakdown coming but can't do anything
Oof heck I don't have autism but that literally sounds TERRIBLE. Like when I forgot my ADHD meds but worse.
Load More Replies...Because real life sucks... there are too many real people out there. Also, it is dangerous, noisy, dirty...
I do the hand shaking as well! I’m not autistic though. I shake my hands aggressively if I’m happy or excited, and even more aggressively if I’m trying to remember something
Same but i have to take breaks if the show is too long. Started supernatural. Got to 11th season and had to take a break. But you should have seen how i binged naruto...
Miraculous tho... Biggest cliffhanger ever and only JUST released English dubs which could be off... RGH!
Most of my clothes are the same... When you find an outifit that you like, why would you only buy one and keep wearing ones you do not like on other days ?
Same! My mom keeps telling me 'you can't just have only yellow shirts!'
That's me too, but with tans and grays. "'Colors'? What are these 'colors' you speak of?" 🤨
Why did it get nomin acted for an Oscar!!!!!! She didn’t even do any research!!!!
Load More Replies...My son has autism and I really hate when people try to compliment him by say, "He doesn't look autistic" Like WTF? Edit: I took out a vulgar rant because it wasn't illustrating my point, but I have trouble describing how rage inducing and heartbreaking this comment is.
Sia's movie was terrible. The only reason I saw it was because i was bored. And let me tell you I was FURIOUS! How could you cast someone who isn't on the spectrum or has no neurological problems as someone who does? Like that is unacceptable. She should be ashamed. >:(
Please don't blame Maddie (the actress). Sia forced her to, and at one point Maddie broke down crying because she was scared people were gonna think she was mocking autistic people.
Load More Replies...This jab at Sia is one opinion. I find it unrealistic to believe that anyone, whether Autistic or not is going to be able to represent everyone's traits. The boy in Parenthood differs from the boy in Atypical, Sheldon and Amy could not be further from each other and yet awwwwwwwww. Brick from The Middle and his whispering and quirks are nothing like Forrest Gump. I watched Radio the other week again, after years, and while years ago I cried and loved it so much, it was through better understanding of the world now that it was even more of a next level story. While I have only seen the preview of Sias so far, I think that any movie or tv show with a character that has something different than others going on is a lesson in acceptance, and understanding. 30 years ago the characters portrayed in shows now would have most often been bullied, the object of ridicule, the strange character that everyone fears or torments...now they are the show, now we are better equipped for understanding.
True, no one can represent all of autism. It is a spectrum, as the name suggests. However, when actual autistic people want to help you, let them. I am autistic, and there are many good examples of Autistics in media. Dr. Shaun Murphy, Billy from the latest power rangers, and others. The key is representation and differentiating. You have to let your audience see the struggles, but also the joys. Try to be as ranged as possible. There is one technique i have unfortunately not seen as of yet, which is to include multiple characters on the spectrum, in order to show contrast between the spectrum. And let actual autistics help. We have a voice, let us use it. It is representation like this that embodies the negative stigma autism often carries. Like anything, there are ups and downs. Also, i have my own graphic novel available on amazon about autism called Imagination Team.
Load More Replies...Just remember everyone is different. :) Also people might share one trait with the stereotype, but that doesn't mean they share them all. They might also fit the stereotype perfectly, or to a farther extent. There's so much about autism we are still learning, and lots we don't know. My friend, also autistic, is extremely extroverted and good with times and dates. Me, the exact opposite.
i never new about this movie and after researching it makes me hate sia now
im fine with that noise even tho i have autism but i dont like bright lights and SUPER LOUD noises but the microwaves fine.
For me (ADHD, not autism) I feel the need for sounds that are not too loud to be completed...but my mom stops the microwave early! I find sounds extremely distracting, to the point I need earplugs just to study. Cats paws on carpet? Very noticeable. Also, do people with autism frequently have photophobia? ADHD people do, and I do.
Load More Replies...there's actually a function on some microwaves where you can mute it
Yes! I think for most newer ones you hold the one button down, I don't know how long but I muted mine a long time ago lol
Load More Replies...Even if I don’t have autism I’m still don’t like the sound either
Now this has got to be the most relatable thing on this list. Its at a point to where I go out of my way to open any microwave near me that is about to start beeping the Millosecond that it reaches 0:00.
PRO TIP: Hold down 2 on your microwave for 5 seconds and it will shut up.
As far as I know I'm not autistic but I also hate the microwave beeping but the strange thing is that our new washing machine doesn't beep as load as our old one and that does annoy me. It is so quiet you can hardly hear it beep when stabding next to it at the end of the wash cycle.
I have misophonia, and most loud noises I cannot stand. But I also hate most quiet sounds, as well. I don't want to explain misophonia. (I'm not being rude, it's hard to explain. Please look it up!) Edit: Oh my gosh i forgot why i commented! I was going to say that the microwave doesn't particulairly bother me, but it does sometimes. Thanks for reading!
Personally I can never take my noise canceling headphones off when I sleep it’s way to loud
That is a party that an introvert(a.k.a me)would like!
Load More Replies...Wait she went to the party thats some skill I would be anxious just stepping foot in the house
That cat appears in other comics so I think it's her house and her partner or roommate is throwing the party
Load More Replies...I knew how many panes of glas in my secondary shool. Still don't know why I counted them but it was fun ;o)
I may be autistic, but I would never be able to do that. I'd lose track too quickly or forget what number I literally said half a second after I said it.
License plates are the real kicker. Forwards & backwards repeated in my head until I can distract myself.
I really like acronyms so I know some of the cars nearby by the 3-letter part of their plates. (This is in the US, I don't know if they use that format elsewhere. I am not giving away anyone's information because this is combined with 4 numbers.). There's a MLK, LDS, and MCG always there on the ride to and from therapy. There's 2 different MDD's in my grandparents' neighborhood, and I think I've seen an LOL there. and an LLL and I'm not sure if that stands for anything but it's cool that it's all the same letter. There's a little white car I've seen around with the license plate KYS and I can't drive but if I did and they gave me that I'd buy a vanity plate formatted like a regular one so I would have to have that.
Load More Replies...I'm not autistic but feel this way about flowers as gifts. It just feels wrong to me.
oh yes i love cutting vegetables these comics are sooo relatable :)
I once chopped up my grandmas entire carrot garden by accident cause no one told me to stop
hyperfocus happens with adhd too. it is really cool when it happens. not so much when you need to clean your room and you are getting urges to organize all the plastic containers you have.
Yessss (but I wish my weighted blanket weighed more it’s 15 pounds I want like 100)
Those things make me feel like I’m being strangled 😅 I’m glad they help others though!
I have adhd and autism so its either two things I ignore them when it gets boring and stim from annoyance or I ask every second ''are you bored? ''do you want to listen to me?'' ''ell me if your bored I reallly cant tell?''
Sometimes I just can't understand people when they speak. I'm sensitive to noise, but my hearing isn't particularly different. :) It's how my brain can't differentiate the volumes of one thing vs. another. The truck down the street is the same volume for me as the person next to me.
Same. If you explain, people are understanding, quite often.
Load More Replies..."take the last thing he said and make it into a high five" -Todd, scrubs
If I ever find myself in this situation I'll just straight up say, "I wasn't paying attention, can you say that again?" UNLESS it's a teacher.
i didnt make the comics but i wanna be friends with u! :3
Load More Replies...i have to poke the box first with a long stick to ensure it isnt a bomb
I’m non-verbal meaning interacting with people is already hard enough but when it’s with strangers and I’m not with any of my family it makes it impossible.
I LOVE IT WHEN IT CRUNCHES BUT HATE IT WHEN IT LOOKS CRUNCHY BUT DOSNET CRUNCH
I don’t really have a routine but when we make plans and then they are changed it makes me want to peal off my own face and tear it in two and again and again until I have a hand full autistic girl faced confetti
Interesting. That's me, but as far as I know, I'm not autistic. I'm getting on a bit now, and anything that upsets my daily routine starts getting me anxious. Covid has been a blessing for me. I haven't missed going out since it started! My daughter does all my shopping and I shop online.
i have three. imagine what it is like. poop everywhere. poopsplosions.
I read poop everywhere and thought you were talking about kids.
Load More Replies...I follow a number of autistic people on twitter and all of them don't like "Person with Autism".
I don't know why. I prefer it. Rather than sounding different, it implies I have an extra add-on or special skill in addition to everyone else.
Load More Replies...Why? I prefer it. I'd much rather be refered to as a person who has a special feature, than feeling like "autistic" classifies me as something different. Not everybody feels the same way!
Load More Replies...I prefer “person on the autism spectrum” but I get that it’s a mouthful
Before I was home schooled me and my sister shared a class and we were always called the normal girl (my sister) and the girl with autism (me) but I never really understood that I don’t just HAVE autism I AM autistic it’s who I am.
As a former special education teacher, I have discovered that while People first language is meant to emphasize the person over the disability that there are three groups that don't give a F*** about people first language... that is the Deaf, the Blind, and the Autistic. Other populations of people with disabilities are kind of split down the middle.
Okay good I've been confused about which to use and am glad to know that autistic is better than person with autism.
I cannot remember people's face... or their mere existence. When a person whom I "knew" in school meets me in the street, they always get upset because I forgot them. "But... I am (insert name here). We were in the same class for (insert number here) years! -And you remember me ? Well, you are weird. Who does that ?" With those masks, it has become much harder.
Yes seriously if I can’t see someone’s face I can’t tell who they are I once couldn’t recognize my own twin sister and we have the same face!!!
What's that supposed to mean in this situation?
Load More Replies...That's why you always need hairspray and lighter: best flamethrower ever.
Load More Replies...This is just human nature, at least for some. My children have named the jumping spider that lives in our car "Jumpy" and say hello to their little friend every time they get in the car.
uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh... i dont do that cuz im 8 and cant drive yet but i have autism too
Both you little ones need to be careful online; although BP is a safer place than most.
Load More Replies...I think the majority of car makers deliberately make their door mirrors in to homes for spiders.
I absolutely hate the guys in costumes. I don't really know why but it's just a big nope for me whenever I see one.
2 years ago when I was 11 literally peed my pants when I saw a smoke the bear mascot, granted I’ve never exactly been potty trained
oh this happen to me once, so everytime i want to try clothes on i get scare if have door or curtain
I know I’m super paranoid but I always check the curtain or door, angle myself so I canT be seen through the crack and check for cameras, check the curtain or door again one last camera check the set up everything so I can get changed as quickly as possible
Load More Replies...Heh that’s like me in the shower! I peek out to make sure the demon isn’t their to take my soul
this is the most relatable thing i mean whats the point of eye masks if light seeps through that one little spot that is for your nose?
It has always been bothering me... Does everyone else sees annoying moving white spots when they close their eyes ?
Yas I do I never thought that it happened to others I thought I was just gonna loose my eyesight and left it at that lol
Load More Replies...I relate to a lot of these things because of my anxiety+aspergers+Tourette’s combo deal except for this one. I can’t sleep without being able to see because I get paranoid of not knowing my surroundings
Omg yes! I like the idea of the dark and calm thing but I have anxiety and well darkness demon and all lol doesnt mix well
Load More Replies...birth control is the best!! as a trans guy, i don't have as much dysphoria around that time of month cuz it doesn't happen anymore!!
off topic, but, YES. i dont know anyone that is trans but i am nonbianary UvU and a furry
Load More Replies...I NEVER felt that even in my childhood. I know dentists I can trust. (Don't ask me what happens at the doctors '0-0 )
Now I have to ask, what happends at the doctor's?
Load More Replies...Some people fear dentists ? I have always had to insist so my mother takes me to the dentist every year. Quick, painless, necessary... the light in the face in annoying, so is having to let your saliva build up without spiting nor swallowing... but it is worth it.
The "feeling" part is more how I feel when the dentist sticks the needle into my gums (because I don't like needles, but I still get vaccine injections or whatever else when necessary), but then after that, the rest of the procedure is just whatever.
I’m fine with the dentists or doctors unless I’m getting a shot or an operation of some sort. Then i scream and get anxiety attacks
vvvvvvv sawblade noises jack hammer noises zzzz* your gums are bleeding, you must not be flossing
Nope, can't do it. Every time I try to sleep with socks on, I kick them off within five minutes.
At this point they are basically our parents but for socialising. One of the 6 that have adopted me helped me cancel a thing with other people without overthinking it!
Load More Replies...If you are wondering what it means, the person in green sees the spider as a tiny spider, the cat sees it as a snack, and the artist sees it as a terrifying monster (I would too).
Load More Replies...This reminds me of when I was six. All I wanted was griffin, (I was very different from my friends) so when my dad took to me to the pet store. I asked the pet store person where the griffins were. She told me they did not exist. I cried, I ended up getting my first fish that day.
I have to do this, too. It's like I have a file cabinet in my head. Figure out what I'm being asked, find the right drawer, then the file, then the answer. Then I can speak. :)
Then this works. Those are the bad germs, but the mask holds them back, protecting everyone else from you.
Load More Replies...Okay, as an autistic person, this scares me. The needle part not the nice doctor trying to help part
I think they are trying to be sarcastic about the myth that vaccines cause autism
Load More Replies...This just made me see shots a whole different way... but i think my anxiety would get the best of me
I've found that a good way to cope with this, while still being able to pet your fuzzy friends, is to simply lint roll your face. (this isn't a joke, I'm autistic (high functioning though) and I do this)
Same! You can’t wear black clothes at all in my house without looking like you roll around in cat fur all day!
Load More Replies...i have high functioning autism to but aspigurl basically describes me on point
YASSSSSSSSSSSSS, today my extremely furry cat walked past my apple and it felt soooo HAIRY even tho it was one hair
I like sleeping cold because then I can cuddle up with more and more super soft blankets
I have a friend that does two bowls one with milk one with cereal, she puts the spoon of cereal into the milk for just a moment and then eats it, that way the cereal is never soggy its just milked as it is used, it is kind of genius really, soggy froot loops are squishy weirdness.

I want to buy a chateau someday, with a huge estate, a drawbridge, and a portcullis... So nobody will invade my personal space.
It's funny because I rather have my hair at my neck and out of my face or I'll have bangs but I'll have twist bangs but they must be above my eyebrows because of my sensory disorder.
I hate having my hair on my neck, even during winter. It drives me crazy.
Load More Replies...I can not cope with hair on my ears. Even when it is down, I Aran get my hair and use pins to avoid that feeling.
I hate letting my hair down for long periods of time. Even at parties I would last probably an hour before I just have to put it up ... away from my face, ears or neck.
Load More Replies...I'm not big on strangers touching me, but I have always been able to make exceptions for haircuts. The only thing I struggle with is when they ask me how I want my hair.
This is true. People go on and on about anti-maskers, but in reality, some people just struggle with these more than most n euro typical realize. This is coming from an autistic.
Some yes, but most anti-maskers are, really, just idiots. Sadly.
Load More Replies...Wearing the mask when you're prone to panic attacks just from being in a shop is a nightmare.
My only major issue with masks is that I struggle to find a way to wear my glasses so that they don't fog up.
Oh, I feel this.. Can't wash dishes because I just feel icky during and afterwards.
me too, but my dad doesn't like it and tells me to just walk normally (he is completely supportive otherwise though :) )
Her volume has to match the brightness of the light so when he turns up the light she speaks louder. When he turns it down she lowers her voice. Then he's messing with her and dimming the light up and down so she talks loud off and on

In Spain, doctors do it to small children and also sometimes, in very particular cases, to people that ad had an accident or old people, for example. Also, sometimes in general cheks.

They are noise cancelling headphones, they help reduce back ground noise. Aural sensitivity is a trait of autistics.
Load More Replies...I think they are noise canceling headphones to lessen the amount of stimuli entering the brain of the person. Autistic people often are more sensitive for one or more senses, like sounds for example. Wearing headphones to dampen the sounds of the surroundings can help with making everything less overwhelming. I have autism as well, and my hearing is also very sensitive. Ever since I got noice cancelling headphones, using public transit is less overwhelming, and they also help a lot with concentrating on studying.
