You might not be able to put your finger on it, but some online groups like the ‘Late Stage Capitalism’ subreddit, with over 624k members (ironically called ‘consumers’) document what’s wrong with capitalism and highlight some of its hypocrisy.
Below, you’ll find some spot-on, insightful, and even funny memes about capitalism from the online community. The term itself, late capitalism, is a catchall phrase that refers to all the inequalities and absurdities of contemporary capitalist society. From inequality to the continuously shrinking middle class.

Then your degree is pretty useless. Just tak gay matter for example. Bible is has quite a few times condemned sodomy including Paul's letters in New Testament. The same Paul that was chosen directly by Christ. Old Testament is used by christian for a reason and saying that Jesus din't have certain opinion just because it wasn't directly spoken by him in New Testament is quite a manipulation.

Ok, let's get something straight about this post. Jesus was not a Revolutionary. He was the Son of GOD! He healed the lepers. He did not have a problem with making money, He had a problem with price gouging and usury (which BTW is against Jewish Law - Jesus was a Jew) Gayness wasn't mentioned again except as Jewish Law. His response as in all things was forgive the sinner. The wealthy paid the same rate of taxes as others. Just they could afford it. Jesus said pay Caesar what is owed Caesar and pay to God what is owed God. Of Course he did not ask for Co-Pays, NOBODY did. If you had money for a doctor you got treated. If you didn't you died. Jesus healed because he could and he did so for ALL. Poor and rich. As for the last statement. No, your wrong. Most bible thumpers grew up learning about certain scriptures in vacation bible school in the summer, in kindergarten and highschool. Depending on which school they grew up in. The difference is some remember, and continue learning with research and others don't.

However, Rick points out that capitalism in and of itself isn't dangerous to society. "It allows folks like you and me to succeed by creating or investing in businesses. Indeed, one looking to borrow money from the banks today won’t have to pay much for the loan. As such, it encourages growth. However, extreme capitalism creates a scenario where greed overtakes reason, and it risks the financial system," financial expert Rick said.

"However, in return, citizens are given services such as free and (easily) accessible healthcare, child care, social welfare, etc. Conversely, highly capitalistic societies charge for these services, making it incredibly challenging for the poor," Rick noted.
Rick added that capitalism, theoretically, gives everyone the ability to flourish. And even the titans of industry that pretty much everyone knows today aren't always raking in the cash: they've also undertaken big risks and losses before making a profit.

health care is expensive - period. In Canada we have the government pay for most health care - it results in a very, very expensive system with lots and lots of bureaucrats but you have to wait over a year to get knee replacement survey (if you have a family doctor who can refer you to a surgeon and if the surgeon is allowed by the bureaucrats to place you on the very long wait list - at lot of ifs - this is personal experience). Sure the surgery is covered but your prescriptions outside of your hospital stay are not unless your employer has a drug plan (my friend had over $5,000 per month of cancer drugs). Judging by the missteps that our federal government made in securing vaccines (they contracted with CHINA for crying out loud) and now we have to scramble to get any left over from other contracts with real vaccines - Canada is so far behind for a 'first world' country it is just sad, sad, sad.

As someone with chronic medical problems who has several doctor's appointments a month, I completely disagree with you on most of that. Yes we need pharmacare but that's the only part you got right. Surgical wait times vary greatly by procedure. Orthopedic stuff is an outlier not the rule. I went from abdominal pain to diagnosis of gallstones to surgery in less than 3 months. I can't imagine what my life would like in the states since I can't work and their healthcare is tied to employment. Yes there are issues here but get the facts right.

I was on food stamps and working full time. And I had to go to dialysis, which is 15 hours/week, so no time for a second job. Then they played me off during the pandemic. I was on unemployment for a few months and then I found my dream job, making 3 times more an hour with fantastic benefits. NO more food stamps and I can afford stuff now.

How hypocritical this picture is, makes me feel the utmost respect for employees anywhere who work double shifts/all day shifts/two + jobs just to be able to feed their families and pay the bills.
Meanwhile, a banking expert and independent investor who preferred to stay anonymous due to the sensitive nature of his work, told Bored Panda that capitalism disproportionately rewards individual incentive and punishes the lack of it. Especially when compared to socialism.
"As someone acquires more capital, it—on average—becomes exponentially easier to acquire even more of it, which adds to extreme wealth inequality," he said. "It really bothers me when trillions in pension funds are wiped out only for a couple of bankers to get slapped on the wrist. Making sure that the costs of financial crises are borne by financial institutions that manufactured them (even if unintentionally), as opposed to transferring the burden to other members of society, would increase accountability."

Glad I live in Canada. To anyone who says we are taxed to death I had a work check for 3 days of work for $860 and they only took off $35 in taxes. The only other deductions were $13 for unemployment insurance and $40for the government pension plan.. I even got $32 in vacation pay which is the law too except in certain employment situations.

My grandma got her hip replaced in Spain and payed 0. On other side, it has been heard in Spain that some american tourists (middle age to seniors) go on holiday, start running on the beach to get that heart attack and get the bypass/stensor in there for free, then fly back home once all it's done. Nah, it is double the minimum wage in their country but a living wage is three times the minimum wage, so they can say that they pay the double than minimum wage but still pay them too little. It would take a worker one month to gather the amount of money to buy the leggings they are making, and that is if they save all the money they earn and not using any of it for housing and such. I think that Ivy Park have changed to another partner than that one now though, but it does not excuse any of it. One seamstress said “When they talk about women and empowerment this is just for the foreigners“. And thats really sad.

Canadian here as well. What an amazing coincidence! That’s exactly what we paid when my husband had a massive heart attack, went to hospital by ambulance, spent 5 days in intensive care, then was flown 300 kilometres by medical air ambulance to a larger cardiac centre, had a quintuple bypass, spent 5 days in that intensive care, and then came home to recuperate with the cardiologist calling us 3 times a week to check his recovery, and then spent 12 weeks in a formal cardiac rehab program including consults with a dietician and a behavioural therapist.

This astonishes me. In the UK the current £9.35 per item ($13). Thats the maximum you'd pay for each item on your prescription. However, if you have a life dependent condition like type 1 diabetes then a) your insulin is free and b) everything else on your prescription is also free because we don't want you to get ill and make your diabetes unstable and cost the NHS more money. Free insulin/$750 insulin. Why are people so opposed to nationalised healthcare in the USA?!

Some are but if they are in a wealthy school district they make good money. The teachers at my kids school make 50000+ yearly starting out and they really only work 9 months out of the year. Probably less with all the holidays and school work shops they have. So yes teachers in poor districts make terrible but its not universal. We all would school my aunt who has a PhD in education about how she made 90000 and really only worked 1/2 a year compare to most of us that made around 50000 and have to work all year. She agreed.

I saw this before, still can’t believe how the government works.
While there are some theoretical alternatives to capitalism, far from every one of them is practical or even attractive. For instance, anarchism might sound attractive on paper, but actually abolishing the State and potentially even private ownership would lead to outright chaos. And it’s well worth pondering whether this sort of system could survive for long.
A more practical alternative could be a very soft form of socialism where public ownership would replace private ownership in some form and give workers greater rights and input in how the economy is planned out. However, one of the biggest fears there is that this sort of system might, in turn, evolve into communism. And history shows us that this is something that many countries who lived under such a regime would want to avoid repeating.
Anyone who’s opened up a history book knows that communism has led to the deaths of around 100 million people worldwide in a century. To put it bluntly, if history is anything to go by, it’s not a valid alternative to capitalism, no matter how exploitative the latter might be.

Credit Unions, small credit unions less than $5B in total assets. Go join a credit union. Shell FCU is great. If you know you're going to overdraft, you can take out uo to $750 and be charged just 1 fee.

Got that right. Just did a refi on my home, (I'll just say they're based in Charlotte NC and recently merged with 1 of the 2 worst banks in America) took the bank 5 months during which 5 different loan officers rotated it through their hands thus making it so confusing they were able to hide their manipulation of the figures so in the end $3600+ in payment during the process disappeared and $1000+ they charged to pay an up to date homeowners policy also disappeared. Fought with them tooth and nail over it but they refuse to admit any of it except for the title company admitting they mailed the $1000+ check to the wrong address but still adamantly refused to return me the money as the policy is paid in full and is in fact auto-drafted from my checking account.

It's very true. My bank charged me a two dollar fee for a paper statement,, which overdrafts my account, so they charged me a 35.00 overdraft fee. Also banks here charge for a check being printed. So to print a rent check is $7.00 USD. I would find a better bank, but sadly I have one of the fairest

My best friends aunt worked in the data center at a hospital. Cut her finger, went to the ER for a band-aid which they gave her and that was it. Except she sees all bills and payments. Hospital billed the insurance company $104, BCBS paid $52 and they used the other $52 as a tax write off. This is how it works in America because our healthcare system is owned by huge corporations who only care about money

It’s the people who don’t have the wherewithal to challenge this sort of thing that worry me. It would be the very vulnerable who end up paying the price, literally.
So what else are we left with? Economic democracy could potentially be the answer. It’s a model where firms are democratically controlled by their employees. Meanwhile, a network of public banks takes charge of investments that affect the entire society. In other words, it’s a way to extend people’s democratic rights to more areas of their lives. In a way, it’s a point between capitalism and socialism without truly being either.

To work in the emergency services should be a choice, not mandatory. Not everyone is mentality capable to deal with it. Let them be carpenters or smth so they could use that skills after release but not force to go in literally fire, risk their lifes for 1 dol and probably have PTSD after that. After release they will not be able to use these skills in any job and will not be able to pay for the therapist. It is slavery. Not all prisoners hurt people, some of them (especially ethnic) aren't even guilty. This whole thing is wrong and excuses made by people like you are even worst

Most of the chain restaurants like Applebee's make their money by reheating frozen food, not by cooking fresh food. So they should be killed off in favor of mom and pop restaurants.

To be more on point I think it might have been appropriate to mention the capitalist manufacturers of the cladding that caught fire; Arconic, or the capitalist contractors that installed it; Rydon, despite the fact that it had consistently failed fire safety tests for 12 consecutive years before installation. 72 people died on 14th June 2017 and not a single person or company has faced charges. That's capitalism.

The thing is, the cladding was installed to improve the building for the residence. It would have saved the tax payer money. The government didn't refuse to spend £5000 as you say, as it was for to a more complex series of bad decisions. People died and those responsible should be held accountable, but no one person is to blame. I'm not a royalist, but the royal wedding made the country far more money than it cost. To put things into perspective, UK spend 18.5 billion in social housing last year. Many of the 15 million people claiming universal credit live in social housing. Where should all this money that the government should spend come from? Should that extra money come from higher rent which is already subsidised, or should it come from income tax; while those on low incomes and benefits literally pay no income tax?

I lived for 23 years in a socialist country. My parents, both math professors, earned some 5000 lei per month. Each month they spend only 1-2000 lei. Wow, great! Great? No, because in socialism we had useless money. We had nothing to buy! No clothes, no books, no electric devices, nothing! Spend money only for the basic food, we could buy after hours and hours of queues. We had warm water 4 hours a week, no water at all during the night, no heat... And we were a high-social academic family! THIS is socialism!

Hi there, I’m not sure you can present Romania as an accurate picture of democratic socialism. You are talking about SSR communism. As we know, that system was very corrupt and very ineffective. When we talk about democratic socialism, we’re talking more about the Nordic countries, Denmark, Norway, Sweden. These aren’t very much like the United States either, I agree with that, but I don’t think the SSR model is what anyone is talking about when we talk about the word Socialism. As an analogy, it’s similar to you saying you don’t like pizza because pepperoni tastes bad... OK then try pizza without pepperoni and see if you like it better. Same thing here. Corrupt communism under the USSR was bad. Democratic socialism in a country that is not corrupt and autocratic is good. No one is saying we want the government to control industry. That is SSR communism, but it is not democratic socialism. I hope that clarifies?

They profit by being crooked and dishonest. For example... My husband was locked up for 3 years and they used to take him on "dry runs" all the time. The prison got $150 every time a prisoner was taken to court. They would take him to court even though he didn't have a court date, just so they could collect $150 for taking him. They also get money to feed the prisoners and yet they serve them unbelievably disgusting food. My husband told me that every time they served bologna sandwiches, the meat was green. They can buy food from commissary, but of course that's all marked up so they make money. Prisons don't care about rehabilitation, they just want money. But your idea for them to get paid if the prisoner doesn't reoffend is honestly brilliant.

I don't have Universal health by me, but it is affordable and if you are taken to hospital on emergency and you can't afford it, they will move you to a government hospital once your stable enough.

I wish. I don't get people's hangups about it. We already pay a ridiculous amount of taxes and I'd gladly spend more in taxes for everyone to be able to seek medical attention when they need it. My mom got breast cancer and I'm thoroughly convinced that if she had insurance they would have done more and maybe she would still be here. We couldn't afford to send her to one of those fancy cancer clinics so she was instead treated at a community hospital and they didn't do a whole lot. Maybe she still would've died, maybe it was just her time, but 10 years later I still feel in my gut that if we had more money and insurance she might still be here. I feel like my babies were robbed of knowing their grandma and that sucks.

Yeah "free" health care cost me 44% of my salary last year. Even tho I never use the hospital.. last year was the first time in probably 25 years and it was to give birth and they still sent me a bill. Yes it was small but when your paying over 38,000$ a year in taxes plus about another 5000$ a year in company health benifits... this s**t pisses me off. Health care isn't free!

Then stop taxing everyone. If it's theft to tax the rich, then it's theft to tax middle and lower class. It's all or nothing. Personally, I am in favor of raising taxes on the rich and lessening it on the lower classes. It should be a sliding scale - the more money you make, the more you are taxed.

I duly believe that no one person/family should be allowed to amass the kinds of wealth the 1% have been permitted to. They should all be stripped of their wealth and have it redistributed for the "common good" or at the very least increase the pay of the ground-level employees to have a decent income and to pay out profits to them and not to a small number of investors.
