Video of Keanu Reeves Ice Skating With Alexandra Grant Leaves Fans Worried and Reignites Rumors

A brief video of Keanu Reeves ice skating with his longtime partner Alexandra Grant has set off a familiar internet storm

While some viewers described the moment as sweet and romantic, others zeroed in on Reeves’ movements on the ice, claiming he looked stiff, uneasy, or even in pain.

These observations quickly reignited long-running speculations about Keanu Reeves’ health and personal life.

Highlights
  • A short ice-skating clip of Keanu Reeves and Alexandra Grant ignited intense debates online.
  • Viewers questioned why Reeves appeared stiff and uncomfortable on the ice.
  • Old reports about Reeves’ serious knee injury fueled health concerns among netizens.

Fans fixated on Keanu Reeves’ skating and why he looked uncomfortable

The viral video showed Reeves and Grant skating together, seemingly unaware that they were being filmed. For many viewers, however, what truly stuck out was Reeves’ posture and balance while he was skating.

One comment questioned his apparent lack of confidence, writing, “Wouldn’t you think he would be more confident on the ice as he was an ice hockey player. It doesn’t matter how long ago that was. It’s like riding a bike. Weird.”

Such observations quickly snowballed into a broader debate. Some commenters argued that Reeves’ past athletic background should translate into ease on the ice, while others pointed out that decades have passed since his hockey days and that injuries can change everything.

This was highlighted by a commenter, who stated that, “He has bad knees. He really would’ve been better off if they went swimming it would’ve been better for his knees and his legs.”

Part of the heightened concern stemmed from reports about Reeves’ health that surfaced before. Back in November, PEOPLE published a behind-the-scenes featurette from Reeves’ film Good Fortune, revealing that the actor fractured his kneecap during production.

In the video, Reeves spoke openly about continuing to work despite the injury, saying, “I like dancing, and it’s been fun partnering and, you know, all the moves and hand-offs. I’ve only had two lessons. Kind of getting it.”

Director and co-star Aziz Ansari described the severity of the situation, recalling that Reeves’ knee was “bleeding” and that he was “hobbling” around the set. Ansari added, “He just pushed through the pain and he shot everything and we finished the movie.”

Reeves later reflected on the recovery process during a podcast appearance, stating, “I was immobilized and wore a brace for basically 10 weeks. I filmed while I had that… But until they pulled the blood out of the capsule, the pain was banana-cakes.”

Alexandra Grant has been facing criticism from netizens, even as her relationship with Keanu Reeves progressed

As the video of the pair went viral, netizens’ attention and ire shifted toward Grant. Some commenters accused her of courting attention or placing Reeves in situations that are physically taxing despite his health.

One harsh remark on Instagram claimed, “This woman makes sure that whenever she’s around, there’s a photographer. He seems like her plaything.”

Another Instagram user echoed the sentiment, writing, “I’m sorry, but this looks like such a joke to me. Keanu once again isn’t into it, but AG needs to show as she knows the camera is on them. He doesn’t act like himself these days.”

These criticisms fed into conspiracy theories about the couple that have been circulating online, with some users suggesting the relationship is staged or motivated by publicity.

“She uses him for fame and he is under contract to her,” one commenter wrote, while another asked, “Why does he let her make him look like a laughingstock?”

Keanu Reeves and Alexandra Grant have a long history together

Keanu Reeves and Alexandra Grant were connected long before their relationship became public. The two worked together as early as 2011 on the book Ode to Happiness, which featured Reeves’ writing and Grant’s illustrations.

They collaborated quietly for years, though at the time, their connection attracted little attention because it mostly unfolded outside Hollywood. That changed in November 2019, when Reeves and Grant made their first official public appearance as a couple at the LACMA Art + Film Gala.

Since then, the pair’s partnership has remained strong, which came to a head last year when rumors emerged suggesting that they had gotten married. Reeves addressed these rumors last October, stating, “Well, that wasn’t the first time. We’ve been going out for a long time.”

Reeves’ fans seem largely on the same page, with many arguing that conspiracies and speculations don’t really matter, as long as the actor is happy. One supportive comment read, “What really matters is that he is HAPPY! He deserves to be HAPPY! And we should be HAPPY for him!”

Some bitter people in those comments. i miss when people could do things in public without being recorded. 25 years ago that would have been one guy's "you'll never believe who i saw ice skating" story, and now we're invading people's date nights.

If it's real it's normal for people over 40 to just stretch and injure themselves, let alone over 60. Given he's very fit it's unlikely but we can hope it's just that.

Hockey skates and figure skates are different. His familiarity would actually work against him using the figure skates, also if he is recovering from a knee injury I can see him being extra careful.

Reeves is 61. Of course he's not going to skate as well or quick now as he did in his 20s. He's Canadian, so I'm sure he feels comfortable on ice.

20 years ago I was blasting straight down the ski slopes - last year I was zigzagging on blues to keep my speed down like a beginner skier. Age, hip issues and a fear of falling made me look less that proficient and graceful - and I've never had to do stunts for multiple films! Keanu's just a couple of years younger than me - I'm gonna give him a break and not judge him!

I typically feel like the term "entitled" is over used or used incorrectly for the situation. But, I really think that THIS is a perfect example of the term being used correctly when I say/ask why do these fvcking idiots feel like they are entitled to comment or judge someone who is older than them, and what their abilities should be? I particularly like the one who says "you can do better than her" and I wonder if the individual who put that out there is in a relationship themselves and what would their reaction be if that same statement was put before their partner? SM has become a cesspool.

You are absolutely 100% correct. It's nauseating, how the tools humanity has created are SO misused... primarily to support greed & division. Just think of what we COULD have achieved as a species. SIGH. As it turns out, we're merely slightly smarter, less hairy apes, doomed to extinction (like 99% of history's other species), but not b/c of natural disasters. Instead, our end will come b/c we were NOWHERE near as intelligent as our egos insisted we were. :-(

Its not anyone's business. For the comments, most are just awful. It breaks my heart how negative this article is. It's rare to find genuine goodness and authenticity in relationships/ "people." A deep person with wholesome values and a genuine display is incredibly beautiful to behold. It's richness all in itself. Hollywood is full of masks and egos.. pretend. It's a very shallow world. (Real is beautiful.) Sharing the same values and growing together is absolutely amazing to have.

JFC. He's 61! It's not unusual to be a little stiff as you age. "But he was on a hockey team 40 years ago!" Yeah, and I climbed trees like a monkey 40 years ago. Don't see me up there fighting off birds for a prime branch, now do you? Cripes. At 61 you sleep a little funny and you need to get out the heating pad for the rest of the day. There's a reason why La-Z-Boy chairs are so popular even though designers hate the look of them.

We need him free of that awful situation and for him to be back to being the lovable and charismatic person he is ! OMG! All these bitter naysayers (only about 17% of the readership, according to the poll results) need to just leave these good people ALONE, and go sort out their own miserable lives. It's been many years since Keanu played hockey. He's a bit older now, with pains resulting from decades as an action star. AND he had a recent knee injury. OF COURSE he's going to be shaky on ice! How sweet of him to give it a try anyway, to please his gal, right? Let's simply wish him a speedy recovery. Also, she IS beautiful in a REAL way. Not every dude wants an older partner still *trying* to look 20 (which is impossible, btw). And most SECURE mature men don't want to date girls they could have sired, b/c it makes them feel GROSS. Jealousy is such an UGLY look, folks. Let this couple be HAPPY on their own terms, as GOOD souls deserve to be. They are hurting NO one by simply living their lives. In fact, they each serve as inspirational examples of how to make our society BETTER than it is.

The 'private' event was recorded by "I Walk I See" which is a paid pseudopaparazzi Youtube account working in cooperation with Alexandra (notice in the bio they are all about "love"). In one of the tiktoks from another user when they were leaving the rink, you can see the Youtuber woman walking out just behind them (Asian, wearing a hat a sunglasses, covering her face and stepping out of view when she sees she's been caught on camera). https://www.tiktok.com/@portuguesadealmada/video/7593330815577165088 This is an established collaboration - if you go to the YouTube account, you can see how often they were front and center at the Godot appearances greeting her, telling her she's beautiful, etc. So save your faux concern about their privacy being invaded, this is a PR stunt.

I don't like that they chose only extreme excerpts for this event.I thought, it was a really caring and nice comment exchange. The main consent was that everyone was concerned about Keanu being tired and exhausted, obviously struggling in pain, skating super slow, while everyone knows that he is a good skater (ice hockey player), and he is in constant training, so he cannot be compared to the regular guy. The zest of it was, that nobody could understand that you drag a man who had given 8 performances per week for 3 months straight (Waiting for Godot) onto the ice ring after the last performance, and then after the after party. He obviously looks exhausted, everybody would not even had been able to go anywhere but to a restaurant, or home for a well deserved celebration and rest. Instead he is visibly tired to the point that he was falling onto the ice (where he could had broken his knee cap again). It could had been avoided to show him vulnerable like this. That's all.
