Art has recently grown into a relatively strong medium to convey critique. Whether it's of the way we live our lives, the way “things are done” in our society, or the way we abuse the planet (or abuse each other).

In a world where a single powerful image can tell a thousand words—how information is much more consumed via imagery rather than language—art turns out to be an effective way to understand the scope of social issues and to call for change.

This is the trajectory that artist and illustrator Davide Bonazzi has also chosen. He creates dark drawings that critique today's world and society. Bored Panda has also got in touch with Bonazzi to elaborate on his powerful artworks. There is more artwork to be seen in a previous Bored Panda article here as well as on Bonazzi's Website.

This is men getting taking the escalator to success and women having to climb their way to the same position.

To the people down voting Cdb: Cdb is quoting a pertinent line from the Simpsons where Marge -head of her class- scales a wall during a physical assessment. All the men walk through a door instead. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hcDL-UhCQK8

This can be seen as two concepts: 1) People who don't have to do much to get to the top vs people working their butt of to get somewhere 2) People who do what society expects you to do vs people following their heart and taking the more adventurous path

Except all the people on the escalator are men and the ones climbing are women.

Funny how it's all men here saying that women don't have it hard. And you know this because of your vast life experience as a... Man?

it's interesting to see how most of the negative comments are on #1 ... honestly I think when you're dealing with sensitive topics like sexism, politics, or otherwise, it's wisest to keep your mouth shut.

On a less serious note this could also be interpeted as a joke that goes like this : Women making things more complicated than they are. I understand that that is not the message of the artist - I am just a crazy guy who is missing the times when we could have fun and not be politically correct ALL the time - So shoot me if it makes your day :)

How funny... my boss is a woman. I have no issues with having a female boss. The only issues I have is with BS posts like this one.

I have a male boss. So I guess it's even now? Anyone else have a male boss to add a +1 to sexism-exists?

For how long will women cry poor? Please don't respond with unsubstantiated or historical data and claims. I'd prefer longitudal studies (at least ten years) with sample sizes in the tens of thousands which take into account the geographic and social intricacies of countries. Please count pregnancy and child rearing in your equations as that's a choice. I get that it's easy to focus on CEO data, as it is inherently biased towards males (for whatever reasons), but I'm more interested in the workforce in general. Thanks. I look forward to your angry, biased and naive replies.

disregarding male efforts, nice try, as if males interfere in female achievement, what they really want is a free pass to the top without the responsability and work required, now lower the standarts , give positive afirmation and descriminate males for them to get to the top, this image is pure sexism, disgusting propaganda.

What a BS, like if every man was born with degree or career. Millions of homeless white males, millions of white males doing underpaid jobs. Gender itself brings no priviledge - woman born to rich family has worse possition than man born in poor family? B******t...

Definitely a feminist critical thinking. For starters women don't get long sentences when they are criminals. Some use children as pawns. Women don't need to work as hard for the same job

"Women don't need to work as hard for the same job" This would be funny if it wasn't for reality in which you actually have to work twice as much to just deal with sexist c**p and sexual harassment in the end.

Although his education was mostly based on literature and liberal-arts, Davide has always had a huge interest in visual arts as well. "After university, I spent a year at the European Institute of Design in Milan, then two more years at the Academy of Fine Arts of Bologna," he told Bored Panda. "I've come to know what illustration is exactly through practice. I've had a few great teachers who really inspired me."

RELATED:

The artist describes his thought-provoking illustrations as "straightforward, conceptual, surreal and sometimes ironic." Davide said he likes using visual metaphors to create "twists" in his creative ideas. This helps him turn an apparently plain scene into something unexpected and more meaningful. Even if it's just a small detail.

"I've always been an optimistic person, though the more I learn about the world we live in, the more I feel worried about our future," Davide added. "Especially, the ecological crisis. It seems we're at the start of a global challenge with an uncertain outcome, and we all have to do our part. In the past decades, people had been taught to be selfish, to consume. I think it's crucial to eradicate this social problem."

This is a problem I have trouble being sympathetic with. You don't need to spend big $$$ to have a wedding like some girl on TV to have a good marriage.

A single parent can be very successful raising their children. My daughter turned out awesome. But, I really felt the absence of a partner. Someone who would have my back and back me up. It really is easier when there a two people raising a child. Thankfully, my ex-in-laws were wonderful

I think it's unsustainable growth. The employees in the company are doing their best to prop that growth up, but eventually it's going to grow too big to sustain and swallow them in.
