This is genius. The only sad part about this, it the glass was removed from somewhere. Still, amazing - just hope people realise how good this is and leave it undamaged.

HOAs are a voluntary choice. Some people like knowing that their property value will never plummet due to living next to neighbors that refuse to mow or fix broken windows. Yes, they have many drawbacks. Yes, some are actively predatory. But imagine working your a*s off for home ownership. The you go to sell many years later. Open house day. The house to your right has 8 dogs chained outside. The house to your left is plastered from lawn to roof in MAGAt banners. HOAs are a binding agreement not to let your neighborhood fall to s**t. Some people see value in that

    PataSata
    Community Member
6 months ago Created by potrace 1.15, written by Peter Selinger 2001-2017

That would mean, that with an HOA, if you have s****y neighbors, nobody new would know, because when they adhere to the HOA's rules, you wouldn't see in the neighborhood, that they're trash. So it's a fraud. You could buy a house in a very nice looking neighborhood, and people could be still s****y. If there's no HOA, or people don't adhere to the HOA's rules, it will show instantly what kind of people they could be. And that's a big plus. If my neighbor would have that kind of door, it would seem they're good guys. If they would have 8 dogs chained outside, they would not be good guys, they're would be the type that you wouldn't want to be neighbors with. If you see that instantly, you won't buy a house there. Rant over, thanks for reading. Btw, I'm nowhere an American, we don't have nothing s****y comparable to an HOA. City council has control over aspects of land/building.

can the HOA control what is IN your house?

    Verena
    Community Member
6 months ago Created by potrace 1.15, written by Peter Selinger 2001-2017

Why should a HOA be concerned with what you do inside your house? If they are so limiting, and most people hate them, why do they exist - especially in the land of the free? Most countries have a building code and city council rules, which are sufficient. You want a window in your roof, overlooking the back garden/yard of your neighbours? Get a permit following the city council process. The window is solely overlooking your own property? Go as you please.

"Our house was built in the 90s and had a fireplace right in the middle of the room - so dumb and really cut off the space. One of the first projects we did was to remove that. However, I love a fireplace, and we had never had a real mantel. So I decided I was going to build one with an electric insert. Lastly, we couldn't let Michelle go without asking for some advice for those who'd like to get into DIYing.

"START and don't be afraid to get it wrong the first few (or 20) times, haha! It's not going to be perfect, but there are so many resources out there—whether it's Pinterest, IG, or wherever—so many blogs giving very detailed instructions. Start small, get some wins under your belt, and then have fun!"

Server chassis can get rather hot, and I'm not sure particle board style ikea stuff will withstand it and not catch fire. They are also immensely loud due to the exhaust fans, so it would be rather invasive to actually use as a coffee table. I'd just use a server chassis to build a pc in and mount like this, that would be tolerable and look great in a game room.
