It would surely have to be painted from a photo for reference that he zoomed in on. This kind of detail isn't going to be seen, never mind replicated, by sitting at the usual portrait painting distance.

In recent years, talks about personal accomplishments have been increasingly echoing the term growth mindset. According to the idea, it's the constant, incremental improvement that leads to success.

In other words, if you focus on perfecting the process instead of chasing results, the latter will naturally follow as a byproduct of your dedication.

So if you started working on a new project with expensive materials and little room for mistakes, it could be helpful to break down the task into smaller, manageable steps, providing yourself with opportunities to learn and improve along the way.

Absolutely beautiful handwriting. And not to nitpick but I found a typo, or that is a write-o in the second to last line in the second paragraph. The word “be” is used by mistake instead of “by”. I read the whole thing because it is such beautiful handwriting. I can’t believe how perfectly each letter stays on the line. Great accomplishment. I wonder if everything they write is in this beautiful handwriting and this perfect. Even a grocery list? “I’ll just jot this down.” Takes 5 minutes to list 4 items. Just fyi I am not mocking here. This is an amazing piece of art.

You can shade using a ballpoint pen, it's about the different levels of hand pressure that you put on the pen. It's bloody hard to get right though!

However, it's not just the preparation for and your performance that matter. You can also incorporate rituals or practices after you're done with it to improve further.

"It's not a bad idea to review your performance and try to understand what went well and what areas to work on," Alpert said.

"A performance can be diagnostic in some ways as it reveals what can be done to improve your game. Don't see any area of deficiency as a weakness, but rather as an opportunity for improvement that will make you stronger."

It would need a coat of varnish (doesn't look like it's done, so far), as the bared wood would discolour and be vulnerable to liquids.

My father died three years ago, after suffering through 21 years of being entirely bedridden and disabled with a catastrophic brain injury after an accident that happened in 2000, when I was 18. I was with him when he died; my mother and sister "couldn't handle it" and they bailed. I stayed, held my dad's hand, and told him it was okay to finally go and be at peace. I have his ashes (my mother refuses to even acknowledge that he died) and I would LOVE to have some of my dad's ashes made into something like this. I think he'd like it.

This is Turkey work embroidery (named after the country where it originated in rug making), also called Ghiordes knot. Its really fiddly to do and takes ages. You have to stitch loops, lock each loop in place then snip the loops to make the pile. This is just brilliant-I'm not bad at embroidery, but this would take me days and days to do.

Hard to describe in words, and I don't know this particular design, but I have made some origami models with fingers, and the best description I can offer is if you imagine some v-shaped creases that go back and forth like a paper fan, that should give a rough idea

Its math! Im a member of OrigamiUSA and the really cool thing about origami is it has a universal symbol language so I books in Japanese, Chinese, Portuguese, Korean, Russian, Spanish and English and while I cant read the artists descriptions of the pieces I can fold all of them. Because the language of origami is universal!

It's abstract, so the meaning is what you make of it. That being said, some artists will share their thought process and what they believe it means, but some leave it up to you.

This looks very much like a "magic eye" image. When you blur your focus and hold the picture at a certain distance, it looks like a redheaded woman looking down and to the left (her right) with large breasts maybe coming up out of water ... at least that's what I see
