I'm a Canadian–based freelance artist and illustrator. I work under the alias Burnt Toast Creative.
Here’s a collection of some of my more popular illustrations from over the past year. I’d describe my style as a “playful cynicism”. More often than not, my work has a subtle social narrative - hopefully encouraging the viewer to rethink some things they otherwise wouldn’t have.

Love how he's just drowning in the excess of information and losing himself to a phone.
All this technology to bring us closer has driven us further apart. Where once we'd drop in at a friends place for coffee, conversation and connection, now we shoot off a few texts and those moments that create memories are lost.
Cell phone zombies...called them that for years. They walk slow, mouth gapping and no sense on there surroundings. I love when they walk into poles or something.

This is what happens when we listen to youtube's conspiracy theories.
Goggles can help you see under water, in places where you can't otherwise. But when you come up to the surface they'll make you vision blurry, your vision will be disturbed by the water in the goggles in front of your eyes
Me too, sometimes it is good to escape reality. I mean the book, not the phone.
someone caught their hair on fire once for instagram
Load More Replies...It's such an interesting extrapolation: heroin is an opiate - so has social media replaced religion as the "opiate of the masses"?
Social media brainwashes you? Abducts you from the real world?
That's the point, I think (not trying to be rude)
Load More Replies...I love the simplicity and deepness in this one. It's so honest and minimalistic.

His mind isn't in the book, it's stuck checking social media and fake news
Blissfully unaware that we are puppets of those who rule our lives, and they are not protecting our vulnerabilities..
In real life we're more thoughtful more considerate with our words and deeds when we disagree with others, we choose our words carefully so as not to offend the individual nor those others listening. In social media we're not tied by such restraints, our emotions and attitudes are often barbed swords used to hurt and alienate. We can be harsh with our tone, we can speak out brashly, we can dismiss people with a few words. We no longer have considered conversion over a difference in people opinions, views or beliefs. We spit out words and cut individuals down and eventually, discard them altogether.
Arfarf ow. (My translator doesn't translate profanity from Dog to English....)
I really really like these for some reason. I just think the way the opinions of the creator are expressed are so creative and honest at the same time. Three thumbs up
these are complaining about social media, then being posted on social media?
