We lost so many amazing people in 2022. I do tribute portraits for a living so when someone in the public eye passes, I do my very best to do an illustration to honor them. Below are some of my memorial portraits from 2022. They will all be deeply missed. And I know I missed a few, but I did my best to do as many as I could.

Robbie Coltrane (Hagrid) - October 14, 2022
The way he played the beautifully natured Hagrid; I can now picture him as the gatekeeper of Rainbow Bridge, where he’ll take care of all magical & non-magical creatures until their people are ready to meet them. Rest easy, Mr Coltrane. We will never forget you. 🥹💖🌈
he was transphobic But he was also like the love of my life when i was 8 rip robbie !!
Some of the major influences in my life include my high school art teacher - Mrs. Timmer - she taught me so much and always encouraged my "artistic license". My college art teacher - Mr. Lynch - he introduced me to so many amazing artists and movies that started to shape my artwork. It might not look like it, but my two favorite artists are Basquit and Paul Klee.
Queen Elizabeth II - September 8, 2022
I truly regretted not adding the corgis and a handbag the second I posted it.
Load More Replies...So guys, my friend was playing BitLife at lunchtime and got a ping she died, half the lunchroom cried. But BitLife, he respawned as royalty, with a random name... Elizibeth. Literally 3 minutes before she died. Creepy coincidence.
I’ve been to London a few times in my youth, even once on my birthday (one of Her Majesty’s horsemen even wished me a happy birthday), so I’ve always had the utmost respect for Queen Elizabeth. Broke my heart when she died, as it felt like we lost a grandmother, seeing as many young people of the UK thought of her like that. I hope she is happy now & reunited with her husband, her late corgis & all her loved ones on the other side. 😔💖🇬🇧👑
I live in the USA and when I went to school, everyone was talking about how sad it was. She was recognized everywhere. RIP.

I literally found out the news 5 minutes after my mom's funeral. My mom was the epitome of Mrs. Potts growing up and it devastated me even more that Ms. Lansbury died the day of.
Ah dang... that must have been a rough time for you. Hope you've found a few unexpected joys since that time.
Load More Replies...I do tribute portraits for a living. I get requests and commissions daily from people who have lost loved ones and want a unique illustration to pay tribute to them. I do tributes to mothers, fathers, aunts and uncles. Brothers, sisters, best friends and sadly lost children. Pet tribute portraits are also a very common request as losing a pet is like losing a best friend and family member. After doing those all day, if someone in the public eye passes away, I do my best to pay tribute to them as well - making the tributes warm and happy and peaceful - which seems to really help people remember how incredible these people were and how much they meant to us as a society.

My wife always says: "I don't know how you never get tired or never run out of ideas" - I basically do artwork from sun-up to sun-down and have since I was a little kid. I don't know what to do with myself if I'm not creating art.

Dang, I've seen talented musicians OD for > 50 years. Always a profound loss. Dad was mentored by Bix Beiderbecke, who warned him drugs and alcohol would steal his music. Dad took lessons to heart and tried to tell fellow musicians like Gracie Slick, Janis Joplin, Jim Morrison, Blind Owl Wilson, Jimi Hendrix, and so many others... few listened.
I'm extremely lucky to have a very positive community of people who follow my work. With so much ugliness and negativity spewed in our faces all day every day on TV, online and within social media - I only want to make people smile and forget about all of that for a few minutes. It's very rare for me to get a negative comment - (it happens, but I just ignore them) so I feel very fortunate to get to do this for a living.

I've been drawing since I can remember - my first love was the pencil. I did pencil illustrations until I went to college where I learned Photoshop and eventually Procreate. I do also really enjoy watercolor, although I rarely paint anymore.

What motivates me the most is simply creating something that can put a smile on someone's face. Doing tribute portraits comes with a lot of extremely sad and heartbreaking stories and they come to me to heal - even if just a little bit - and if I'm successful at my task, and I receive a nice message, it makes it all worth it.

Why downvote this? Sometimes you don't know what your friends are going through. If something seems off check on them.

Please take this loss as a reminder to check on your friends and family. The people that seem the happiest often struggle behind closed doors. RIP tWitch, you truly were a legend.
No reason to downvote you for this. I'm sorry people are being rude.

When it comes to the finished product. I generally can picture what I'd like to accomplish in my head before I start, so to see the work in it's final form is what I enjoy the most - the process is fun, but the result is better.

League record 11 NBA titles in 13 seasons. League record of 22 rebounds per game. This man was a true athlete and team player.
Also: Sport in Society Hall of Fame, 2000. Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 1975, as player. Naismith Hall of Fame in 2021 as a coach. All this without controversy. Well, except for leading a boycott against racism in 1961. In 1961, people! That took courage.

Louise Fletcher (Nurse Ratched) September 23, 2022
When she won an Oscar for her performance, she signed as well as spoke her acceptance because both of her parents were deaf.
People think of Jack Nicholson in 'One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest,' but Louise Fletcher made it happen as the antagonist, Nurse Ratched.

I remember … Simon Cowell cried when he heard about it. I bought her single “It’s Okay” from Apple Music, as it helped inspire me when I had to fight to get my prosthetic leg. I’ve no doubt this young woman will be remembered as an inspiration to all. RIP, Nightbirde. Soar high, sweet angel. 😔💖👼

Where's Nichelle Nichols? Uhura from Star Trek passed on July 30th this year.
I actually did her and forgot to add her to the OG post Nichelle-N...5c4ee0.jpg
We have lost so many incredible people this year. Wow. Queen Elizabeth for God's sake!
Yes we have. I smiled knowing Luis from Sesame Street, the Green Power Ranger, and Mrs. Potts were no longer with us but always apart of us and our childhoods. But then Robbie Coltrane made me cry, Hagrid is one death that will never leave me

"Great Balls of Fire" ...can't believe JLL is gone. That man was so funny and so talented, and a maniac at his piano. Heck, I could barely play sitting still at keyboard that that man practically danced on it.
