This Artist Makes Humorous One-Panel Comics Without Dialogue (30 New Pics)
Interview With ArtistIt has been proven time and time again that sometimes simple things can be quite significant. And when it comes to simple things with deep significance, that's exactly what comic artist Karlo Ferdon's art portrays. He’s a Chilean cartoonist who shows us that it doesn't take many words to make someone laugh and convey an important point.
The artist creates short and wordless comics about all kinds of absurd and silly situations in everyday life, and we think that it's pretty much impossible not to squeeze out a laugh or, at the very least, not to identify with the messages passed in them. As of now, Ferdon already has over 20,000 followers on Instagram, where he often posts his comics and actively engages with his audience.
Karlo’s comics have been previously featured on Bored Panda a few years ago and if you’d like to see more of his older works you can find them by clicking here, and here.

This is exactly what it's like watching my child's in-laws three hours long opening of their Christmas gifts. Only difference is that they like it.
My family used to do this, to make a small gift look bigger under the Christmas tree. It's also a great way to use up old wrapping paper.
My dad did this one Christmas to my mum. The last box was duct taped closed and said "Do not open til Jan 1st".
I bought my ex an ipod touch one year and I wrapped it up so he had to get through about 10 different layers.
Load More Replies..."From a very young age, I had fun either copying cartoons or comics, but also creating my own stories (very poorly drawn, but I think they were funny)," Karlo Ferdon, who now works as a full-time graphic designer, told Bored Panda in an interview previously. The artist’s minimalistic cartoon drawings personify food, nature, and other ordinary objects as he makes sure to inject some light-hearted humor into those almost surreal situations that require no words to understand.
"And here we can see humans in their natural habitat" I heard you say that in a David Attenborough voice.

"If you look to your right, you will see 'Homo Officus' a relatively common sight in cities. Males wear dark, drab colours such as black, navy or grey pants and jackets with white shirts. Females typically wear the same but with skirts instead of pants. You'll notice the miserable expression and slumped posture indicative of this species. They can also be found congregating near water coolers or standing in large groups outside buildings on smoke breaks."

Load More Replies...Once again Bored Panda reached out to Karlo Ferdon but this time with even more questions! First, we asked the artist if he had any major influences in his life that might've helped him to develop and refine his style.
“My main influences were the comics I read as a child. Comics such as the Peanuts, Calvin & Hobbes, Mampato, Condorito, and many more were the most memorable and, to be honest, these were the main ones I could think of as of right now!”
His great sense of humor inspired him to make many comics that are absurd as well as very inventive. The comic artist has been making comics for many years already, posting them on platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, and even Twitter, and to no one’s surprise, Karlo's audience so far has been very appreciative and supportive of his hard work and ideas.
Some people have very high butt cracks!! Everybody gets a free pass except the High Cracks( that’s what we call ourselves )
I have never thought about this. I shall ponder this while I lay awake at night, unable to sleep. Perhaps, I have been overly critical of those people and unknowingly, they were high-crack people. :)
Load More Replies...With over 637 posts on Instagram already, the artist has racked up an applaudable number of followers, over 20k to be exact. And it's not only that, the comic author has reached over 10k likes on Facebook too. Karlo Ferdon portrays simple things with deep significance, and his lack of words when it comes to his single-panel comics is what makes it so special.
Art, in any kind of form, takes a lot of time not only to practice but also to produce, therefore we asked Karlo how long it takes him to fully finish his comics.
“For me coming up with the idea is what takes the longest most of the time, but when it comes to drawing the comics I can complete one comic in an hour, or an hour and a half, depending on the number of details!”
Being an artist is not easy, one can easily encounter a lack of inspiration, burnout, etc, so we wanted to ask Karlo about his ideas for the comics.
I do have one tip when it comes to ideas! My formula is pretty much putting the characters in everyday situations and having absurd results with a touch of surprise. Generally, the more you draw, the more ideas you get! It works both ways.”
Lol! Heaven won't be all it's cracked up to be for anti-maskers. At least, that's my read. He's not getting in without one.
The fact that he didn't want to wear one during a pandemic is why Hell awaits - as should be the case.
Load More Replies...I don't think that's it - he doesn't look happy. See Tiny's explaination?
Load More Replies...As we mentioned before, sometimes creative work can cause quite a burnout, therefore we asked the artist how he dealt with that as well.
“Sure, I do get burnt out and there are also creative blocks sometimes. My personal suggestion is not to push yourself too hard. Just try to think that the best drawing and the best idea is the one that will come tomorrow.”
We also asked Ferdon about how people reacted to his work.
If telling the truth, generally people tend to react very well. Of course, there are always those who do not understand the joke at all or understand the opposite of what the cartoon tries to say or portray, but it is something that usually happens when making humorous comics without any words.”
With all of that being said we do hope that you will enjoy these comics, dear Pandas! Tell us what you think, and share with us your thoughts! What was your favorite comic and why? Please, let us know down below! We will be eagerly waiting for your answers. Also, if you found yourself liking Ferdon's works, don't forget to support Karlo's work on his social media platforms as well!
Bermuda has no natural source of fresh water, so the "rain-catch" roof is common in traditional architecture. Also, now they have ways to convert the seawater that surrounds them into fresh water.
with the draught in the southwest, this might be the new way to save water!
I didn't see the board until I read your comment haha. Thanks, im blind

The creative process is not easy, but there are always some enjoyable parts about it.
“My favorite part of the process? Probably when I try to translate what I have in my mind onto the blank sheet of paper, it is not always a true copy of what I had in my head, but I do my best to make it a reality.”
Artists tend to get motivated by a lot of things such as curiosity, the search for beauty, or even meaning. Therefore, we asked Karlo about that too.
“At the beginning, my works were published in press, local newspapers, and magazines. Little by little social networks were also started to give artists more independence, and before I knew it there were Fotologs, Blogs, and now even Facebook and Instagram pages.
I’d also love to say many thanks to Bored Panda for considering and disseminating my work. And thanks to everyone who follows my cartoons and comics, both @KarloFerdon and @donSerapio! Thank you all”
Both need pain to learn... hopefully the right lessons.
Load More Replies..."Masks Protecting" what, exactly? Masks protect others from seeing who you are, and that's it!
Thanks for contributing to society, killing thousands of people. Truly, we are all in your debt. <3

Water Closet. An old fashioned term for bathroom, still in common use in England, I believe, but I could be wrong.

Time to get that booster. Just a small thought; who woulda thunk I woulda lived long enough to experience this...these...times.
I was thinking that the other day too. Then thought, what's next- aliens? It seems so surreal.
Load More Replies...Yes, great performance. Hmm. I have canvases. I have sharp things. I'm existential. Excuse me, I've work to do.
I know the feeling! And sometimes the best way to boot up is with coffee.

Dr. Batwing, reclaiming her species honor. We should all be working for honor.
A world chock-full of expression. Thinking about how many of us took up and/or returned to artistic elucidation. (And improving our vocabulary 🤪💗).
I don't understand this one. I keep thinking the tire tracks could be domestic abuse, but none of these are that dark, so can someone please explain?
Robots doing it the way they have been programmed, and humans using their minds in a better way.
Small efforts are just as essential. That is the trickle-up practice by which I live, using my resources locally. Yeah, sounds bragadocious and self-aggrandizing, sure, but I have few resources and need to make them matter. So, sue me. 😍
Putting a diaper on baby correctly can be complicated, like origami?Although I've no idea what being a panda had to do with it ... Does anyone else have any idea what this means?
That panda is a popular origami shape to fold iirc.
Load More Replies...I've oft wondered about the power of origami. But, I am an existentialist.
These are inspiring and so in need of reminding. Thank you, Karlo. Much thanks.
