my great-grandparents (or great-great?) were very active in the russian revolution. whether or not this is a thing to be proud of or not is up to the reader
All four members of my immediate family were born on a different continent.
My tonsils disappeared when I was 8 years old. I wore diapers till I was 12.
My grandmother lived to be 102. She was an expert marksman; she could shoot a gazelle from 1000 yards.

My genes come from all over the world. My father's side of the family are Irish-american (thus my ginger hair), and my mother's side is Mexican, Scottish, Congo, and some other stuff I can't remember. Also I'm a 3rd generation immigrant. Also my great uncle raised Bob-cats(before he died), and my father's cousin raises Raccoons for release.

my grandma's brother married his cousin. also, we have connections to a lot of famous people. nick jonas and priyanka chopra came to my great uncle's funeral last year.
nearly everyone in my family is autistic only ones that arent are my parents and brother (i dont think anyone has been officially diagnosed bc the sacramento healthcare sytem sucks)
yeah, me too, except i think autism in my family skipped a generation. my grandparents on both sides are autistic and so are random other people in my family... as well as myself 😅
When my mom was about 9, she went to see her great grandfather, whose surname was spelled slightly differently from hers. Let’s say that her maiden name was Browne, and his surname was Brown. He said that her name was spelled differently because back many generations, her ancestor was a horse thief that changed his name slightly so as not to get caught. She didn’t believe him. Fast forward a decade, she’s in college, and there’s someone there with the surname of Brown. My mom told her that her surname was Browne. The girl said “that’s funny, I’ve heard a story about your family.” Turns out it was true, and our ancestor changed his name because he was a horse thief.

My mom breeds dogs and we live on a farm. My parents are also really, really strict.

Shortly after the attack on Pearl Harbor, he enlisted in the U.S. Army where he volunteered to become a member of the First Special Service Force which later became known as “The Force” aka “The Black Devils” or “Devil’s Brigade”. Among many of the seemingly impossible missions they were given, he and his FSSF band of brothers were tasked with reclaiming two 3200 foot high Italian mountain peaks controlled by the Nazi’s. After scaling the cliffs in the dead of night the company took the enemy by surprise. Outnumbered and out gunned, the FSSF won the battle and took the peak. Three days later, they took the second peak and the main road to Rome was clear for armored divisions to advance. In 1943 Felix, after saving dozens of his fellow soldiers by taking out a Nazi machine nest in the battle at Anzio, Felix, on his way to Rome, was hit by an enemy bomb where he was severely wounded and was awarded the Purple Heart.
During their three years of active duty Felix and his Black Devil’s Brigade never failed to successfully complete a mission. Of the 248 survivors of the brigade, one was forgotten – Felix Polito. Government and private organizations maintained lists upon which Felix’s name never appeared. As a result, he was never invited to reunions or ever received information on any of his comrades and was presumed dead. After Hurricane Katrina, his Purple Heart and many other valuable mementos were gone. In 2015 the Congress of the United States decided to bestow a Congressional Gold Medal on the brigade for its acts of heroism and sacrifice, all 44 known living members at the time were invited to Washington. Forgotten Felix was not among those honored.
On his 100th birthday on April 24 2022 Felix Polito was finally remembered by at event held at the WWII museum in New Orleans. FSSF survivors remembered him, the military remembered him, family and friends celebrated him for all he had done and sacrificed in the name of freedom. He received his Congressional Gold Medal, had his Purple Heart restored and given the tribute he’s earned.
