Hey Pandas, What’s A Classic Movie That Everyone Needs To See At Least Once In Their Life? (Closed)
What movies are considered classics? Which ones do you watch over and over?

Monty Python and the Holy Grail
I knew there was another one I wanted to list! Thanks, how many times do you quote the movie throughout your life?
Enough that my wife is sick of it.
Load More Replies...I tried to watch it with my husband, he lives Monty Python. It isn't my type of movie.
Arsenic and Old Lace It's one of Cary Grant's first rolls, he was more comic in the beginning. It's a great life and reminds you to not take life so seriously!
Life of Brian is my Monty Python favorite. Sorry, had to mention it.
Load More Replies...The Shawshank Redemption.
Love the Green Mile. Seen it a million times. Floods of tears every single time. "He killed them with their love. That's how it is every day, all over the world.". Wow.
Load More Replies...I have a lot of problems with this movie. After watching it at least 50 times, I still can't decide whether this or The Green Mile is my favourite movie
I'm the same Jo. But I think this week at least, The Green Mile is just shading it because of it's wrenching emotional climax. Might be Shawshank next week though, so don't rule it out!
Load More Replies...I have watched it more times than I can count. Really watch and listen. There is so much in it for life. "These walls. At first you hate them. Then you get used to them. Then you find you can't do without them." . (Red. Shawshank Redemption. Or, close enough.) Its not just physical walls. People are good at building walls in their lives with the same results. What hit me when my Mom died was the scene of Red sitting in a chair in his room wishing he could be back to when things were safe, and he didn't have to be afraid all the time. "You either get busy living or you get busy dying." (Andy. Shawshank Redemption) And so much more in this one movie.
The Princess Bride
I watched this movie (non-American, so I had no exposure to it) a few months ago. Then I watched it again. And again. Such a brilliant film!
This is my go-to feel-good movie. Loaned it to a couple of my friends who had never seen it. Both thought their boyfriends wouldn't be interested but in both cases the men were excited to see it again.
I’ve never seen this and I don’t think I’ll understand the hype. But I do want to see it anyway
"No more rhymes I mean It!" "Anybody want a peanut?" Omg this movie has so many good lines!
Please no downvotes. I hate that movie. BUttercup is such a usless princess
Compared to Leia, who set the bar so high that no princess will ever come close to her.
Load More Replies...Another movie I quote on the daily. "Have fun storming the castle!" "As you Wish." "There's a difference between mostly dead and all dead. Here open his mouth." "Anybody want a peanut!" "You seem like a decent fellow, I hate to kill you." "He said to blaith and as we all know to blaith is to bluff." "I am not a witch! I am your wife!" "Humperdink! Humperdink! Humperdink!" "You be careful, people in masks can't be trusted." "You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means."
Back to the Future
The amount of people I've met who say that it is a bad film...argh!
I loved the third one, i love the western stuff
Load More Replies...Schindler's List
This film was so good. Not fun to watch but a good film and important to see that story/bit of history.
I watched this for film class and the ending had me crying. (SPOILER ALERT HERE! DO NOT CONTINUE READING UNLESS YOU WANT SPOILERS! THIS IS YOUR WARNING!) The people who visited the grave at the end were the people he rescued.
Yes, one of the very few times a movie makes me cry, at precisely this scene. Suddenly it's real people, witnesses and survivors of these events, not just actors.
Load More Replies...We had to watch that one in Junior High. It ended up being a 2 day showing. I stayed home the 2nd day because it was too gory and traumatizing to watch. I can't do teeth pulling and all that. I'm scared of dentists, as is, and since I was having a horrible time with my loose canines when the adults were coming, and I'm a deep empath, I felt the pain a little too much.
This is what man is capable of doing to man. Watch, and always remember that.
It's embellished and enhanced for the big screen. The bottom line is that at great personal risk, Schindler saved the lives of so many. That's the truth. That's the story. That's the film.
Load More Replies...Lord of the Rings trilogy
Just watching the movies was very confusing for me; a lot of things didn't make sense. It wasn't until I read the books that I was able to truly enjoy the story.
There's no point watching the "normal" versions of the films, too much is missed out. The extended versions are a minimum, but even they miss out loads from the books.
Load More Replies...I can not tell you how many times I have read the books over the years. When still in school it was once a year over winter break. Less frequently after college. But I absolutely will never wstch P Jackson's movies again. What he did to Sam and Frodo before they got to Shelob's lair, nonononono. Frodo would never send Sam away. Gollum would NEVER touch the elvin made lembas bread. It ruined all the movies for me. I take exception to any screenwriter changing any book character so badly.
So.......not looking good for the Let It Be Documentary? I thought the previews were a little Ringocentric.
Load More Replies...I love Gimli and Legolas' banter throughout the films.
Sadly, The Hobbit Trilogy is on my list of films that nobody should have to watch.
I started watching about five years ago. I try to do three hours per day so I'm almost half way through the first movie.
Aliens Made in 1986 - would be all CGI now... to make it in 86 and still have it be brilliant in 2021 is an astounding feat.
CGI is overused and over relied upon. They rely so much on it that now movies are kind of crap.
Your answer is wrong. The first known cgi was the stain glass scene in Young Sherlock
Load More Replies...The first two are the best. Ripley is such a strong character! Aliens has the unforgettable Bill Paxton in it.
Load More Replies...The more chi has progressed in movies and games, the less effort they put into the film. Take Avatar, pretty as anything, boring recycled storyline, yawn!!
The Breakfast Club
I loved it in the 80s, but I cringed when I watched it again a couple of years ago. Don’t forget the movie’s most important lesson: if you put on makeup and make yourself pretty, the jock who ignored you will suddenly like you.
To Kill a Mockingbird
As someone who both saw the film and read the book, I would better recommend the book (the movie is beautiful, don't get me wrong, but the book has much more extra topics that are not shown in the movie)
I can not tell you how many times I have read the book! I'm the kind to go back and reread any book I like, over and over. So yes it's a great movie, and I completely agree, it's a better book!
Load More Replies...Would you like to know if someone has read the book of a movie you're watching? Don't worry. They'll tell you.
The Wizard of Oz
Unpopular opinion. Dorothy was the Villian. Did not listen to her aunt. Killed a woman just standing there. Stole her shoes. Refused to return the shoes to the rightful heir. Murdered said heir. Exposed the person the land has pinned their hopes and dreams on as a fraud. She literally ruined the lives of everyone she encountered. Horrible person
Neverending story
But whatever happened to the lawsuits as memorialized in the Simpsons episode where Homer gets kicked out of so called "All You Can Eat" fish restaurant: Lionel Hutz- "This is the greatest case of false advertising since I sued "The Neverending Story!" Homer : "So, do you think I have a case?" Lionel Hutz : "Mr. Simpson, I don't use the word 'hero' lightly, but you are the greatest hero in American history."
No! Please read the book! The author, Michael Ende, who was one of the greatest German authors for children's books, had his name removed from the credits because he hated it so much. Believe it or not, the book is not about how good imagination is, but how power can even corrupt good people and turn them evil. Only the first third of the plot made it into the movie.
Do you have the 2-colour-edition also? Was it standard to make the plot in our world one colour and whenever Bastian get's into his imagination it's another one?

One of my 3 all time favorite comedies! I had the hots for Lorna Patterson (Randy) when this came out in 1980. Actually got to talk to her on the phone after I sent her a birthday cake! Met Lloyd Bridges too at my work at Independence Hall in 1987.

This movie is sooooooooooo underrated! It's so good and the music is so 90's! Love!
It's a Wonderful Life.
Yeah! i was about to say that. saw it about 20 years ago and i cried my eyes out! such a great movie! one of my favorite christmas movie
It is a very emotional movie, so I understand why.
Load More Replies...My husband and I watch that every year at Christmas with A Christmas Story.'
That's a fantastic tradition!
Load More Replies...Watched it for the first time last year - very good - and a good underlying message.
Yes, I also watched it for the first time last year. I loved it too, so wholesome.
Load More Replies...I know a lot of people love this movie but I watched it and it was soooooooooo boring. Not a fan
Just not your cup of tea! I respect that.
Load More Replies...Labyrinth
I love this movie! "You remind me of the babe!" "What babe?" "The babe with the power!" "What power?" "The power of voodoo." "Who do?" "You do!" "Do what?!" "Remind me of the babe!"
Raiders of the Lost Ark
Amy from Big Bang ruined this for everyone, by pointing out that Indiana Jones made no impact on the film overall. Still love the movie, but...
The Sound of Music - its a scary film, and so sad, so glad the family got out of Austria safely.
while the movie was based on a real family it was given the hollywood treatment and its a very loose dramatization.
I sing the songs on a daily...then again I'm a musical theatre nerd. I treasure this movie though because it's one my grandmother and I love watching together.
One technical blooper at the end of the film, the direction they're walking in would actually take them into Germany, not Switzerland.
Pulp fiction
Spaceballs!
I am your father's brother's nephew's cousin's former room mate!
Great movie but the problem with spoof movies is a lot of the jokes won't land like the (D**k D**k) part and explaining why it's funny is even worst
The godfather
One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest. Maybe Jack Nicholson’s best performance. Harsh & superb.
I rewatch this, but have to stop before that younger patient tries to kill himself.
Arsenic and Old Lace Cary Grant did the best double take in the business
The Shining!
The movie is great, the book is still better, imho.
Load More Replies...I watched this after hearing all the hype and was quite disappointed. It seemed overly long and plodding. I even gave it a few more chances but came up feeling the same. I thought Doctor Sleep was much more engaging.
Fair enough it not to everyone’s liking.
Load More Replies...I'm in the middle of reading the book right now....Can't wait to watch it
hated that they changed the entire ending of the book. the movie is fine standalone, but the book is fantastic
Dances With Wolves
Can't up vote this enough. Also, "Buried My Heart at Wounded Knee.
Stand by Me
Dr. Strangelove or: how I learned to stop worrying and love the bomb
"That's private property...OK, I'm gonna get your money for you. But if you don't get the President of the United States on that phone, you know what's gonna happen to you?...You're gonna have to answer to the Coca-Cola Company." -- sheer brilliance...
Galaxy Quest. the best send up of all- a great spoof of the Star Trek series!
This film is the only film in which Sigourney Weaver is a blonde. Hen they were fitting the wig on her she commented "I could feel my IQ dropping as the wig was put me."
The house in which Tim Allen lives in is owned by William Shatner. He also loves the film!
Never get tired of watching it.....
Load More Replies...Silence of the Lambs
Nothing. It's just not for the faint hearted.
Load More Replies...I don't know. If you look at it now, it's just another crime movie. I mean, Anthony Hopkins is memorable in it, but he has done better movies, too. Also, I'm kind of annoyed that the author just took information from several real-life serial killers and used then 1:1 as scenes in the movie.
And "Romeo & Juliet" is only another cheesy love story Shakespeare put together mostly from two previously published texts. As for the "Silence ..": the composition of the shots, the emphasis on Starling's constant loneliness among males and Jodie Foster's acting, the set design, some well casted memorable supporting characters also make it unique. IMHO it's quite apparent when it's compared to the sequel and prequel that both have Anthony Hopkins. (On the other hand "Manhunter" with Brian C*x as Lecter is also a great movie.)
Load More Replies...Toy story
Same here. The sequel has always been my favorite. Especially now because I can relate to Jessie because of my own struggle with anxiety.
Load More Replies...Goonies
I can't believe this one isn't higher. I rewatched this for the 10,000th time this weekend it still holds up!
The Good, The Bad & The Ugly.
OFFICE SPACE!
The entire Star Wars saga.
So true - the 3 movies of the Star Was Saga are a must have. Too bad they never made any more wonderful movies based on it. (Note the word 'wonderful')
Yes, one would have thought that it would make a huge sell-out franchise, but luckily Lucas decided to keep it pure and simple at three movies.
Load More Replies...This Is Spinal Tap
Oh H*** yeah! Don't need to be a rock fan to enjoy this movie either. Even my 90 year old dad is a huge fan! Once you see it you will forget all about Lennon-McCartney and Jagger-Richards and worship at the altar of St. Hubbins-Tufnel with The Gospel According to Spinal Tap as your guide! So many classic lines, I will add- "You can't really dust for vomit".
Idiocracy
Gone with the Wind
Young Frankenstein. Ties for Mel Brooks best.
The Green Mile
Read the book at some point; it will help you appreciate the lovely job done in the film version.
Soylent Green
when i think soylent green i also think of Logan's Run (they could be tied together if you think about it lol). so i was surprised not to see Logan's Run on the list, given the selections on here
My Fair Lady
Yes! I love this movie. I love the horse racing scene.
Saving Private Ryan
A great movie for the whole family, especially the toddlers! (This is a joke dont smite me)
The perfect date movie. I actually know a couple who went to watch it on their anniversary.
Load More Replies...Blade Runner
this movie missed the mark on some of the main points the book was trying to make. do androids dream of electric sheep is amazing though
2001: Space Odyssey. It's like a manual of where humanity came from and where it's heading.
Thank you! I strongly urge people to view this movie. It is certainly slow moving and dated in parts, and you will be asking yourself "what on earth did I just see?!" on multiple occasions. But put your thinking cap on and keep an open mind, and I promise it will be a thrilling film viewing experience that will reward your effort. I hate that this movie is so polarizing! It seems that people divide it into either the "you're stupid for not liking it" or the "soooooooo booooring and pretentious" camps. When honestly, it can be enjoyed on so may levels. If you have not seen it, please watch it and then read an analysis from a reputable film critic that will help explain the movie. And if you have already seen it, now would be a good time to see it again. So let's all watch it this week and meet up here at Bored Panda to discus! And I am sorry, I know this is a TL;DR post for sure. I just love this movie so much and want others to experience its joy and wonder.
AND you can endlessly mull over the the final 20 minutes, asking "What the HELL is going on here?"
Definitely not the worst, but even as a huge classic sci-fi fan I don't like it. It is pretentious, especially for the message it tries to convey. The special effects and cinematograpyh are superb, but the script is a mess. It's too much catered to the hippie generation.
Load More Replies...Oh God please no. This movie is so overrated. And the design of "you need both the movie and the book to understand everything" is not good.
What didn't you like about the movie? The book is definitely more straightforward than the movie, but I do not think it is necessary to read the book to enjoy the movie. I do think the movie is more enjoyable on successive viewings, but I understand not wanting to sit through a 3 hour film more than once just because a certain section of movie viewers thinks it gets better that way. I am sorry you feel that way because I think it is an amazing movie from the Dawn of Man section to the Star Child segment and hope you will give it another shot in the future.
Load More Replies...The Harry Potter franchise. My favorite series ever (books and movies). Watching them for the fourth time.
I love all the movies, but the fourth one the fourth one was a disappointment because it left so much out, and Cedric deserved better.
Love Harry Potter, but books 4-6 should all have had 2 movies devoted to them. So much book content was either condensed or left out entirely.
Agree. Goblet of Fire was a major disappointment to me because I was looking forward to Hermione standing up for the House Elves and Winky.
Load More Replies...Goodfellas
The reason why it's violent is because they did not want to sugarcoat the mobster lifestyle. Violence was a part of the game and these people did horrible things. The Godfather, on the other hand, romanticizes mob life that's not accurate to what happened in reality.

The Blues Brothers. Hilarious mock epic with great music & a car chase in a mall!

Same advice I gave To Kill a Mockingbird. Read the book and watch the movie. They are perfect partners.
I never read much as a kid but I read this a few times. Great movie and book.

One of the most powerful (by way of its understated delivery), sympathetic depictions of the universal experience of helplessness in wartime.
Breakfast at Tiffany's
Jurassic park,
Ah, yes my bedtime movie when I was kid. I was a strange child.
Definitely. The original movie really expressed the wonder and awe of the characters when they first saw living dinosaurs for the first time.
Yup! The third wasnt the best, second was nice. First was amazing

After seeing this I needed my brother to check the shower every time I went to his place for a weekend visit.
Rocky Horror Picture Show. Every Halloween. It's just so bad it's good. Always cringe laugh.
"Let's do the time warp again!" But it's even better when you think you're watching the American version, but wind up watching the UK version instead my middle school self was traumatized. Yet, I watched horror movies at a very young age and it was this movie that scarred me. I love the movie, now though.
Ran that sucker at the TLA Cinema in Philly on South street from 1977 to 1981! (I was the projectionist!)
Seen it more than 200 times. Wanted to break a record. Yeah, I am weird, but no one time warps like me.
Casablanca. Who's Afraid of Virginia Wolf The Maltese Falcon All This and Heaven Too Watch On The Rhine Duck Soup Key Largo Captain Blood Adventures of Robin Hood If I could only watch one, before I died, it would be Casablanca.
I agree. It's perfect. Some claim that Citizen Kane is the greatest film of all time, but it's full of unpleasant people.
I was about to list the Bogart movies! I would add " To Have and Have Not.
Actually anything from the thirties and forties. A very few from the fifties.

Tried to watch it... twice. Every time I found it dull and boring. I really don't get what people like in this thing.
Blazing Saddles. Ties for Mel Brooks best.
Could be a seen as racist for the modern crowd. Funny at the time but certainly not these days. Sorry.
It was in fact a devastating attack on racism then, and it still is. Still very funny, in part because of that.

Pink Floyds "The Wall"
I think my position on this one should be clear! But it really is an excellent film despite what I felt were the odd choices of Alan Parker as the director and Bob Geldof, a definite anti-Pink Floydite, as the lead. I re-watched last year at the beginning of the COVID lockdown and was pleased that it still holds up closing in on 40 years from its 1982 release date. It helps if you are fan of Floyd and the LP. But still well worth seeing even if you are not a fan. I would say it is a flawed and imperfect film, but also thrilling, deep, and beautiful. Overall an excellent film.
I could not agree with you more on it being a deep and beautiful film. And I love your handle, especially since I also am a Pink Floyd fan.
Load More Replies...Comfortably Numb. I can go there just relaxing in my chair listening to it.
Goodbye Blue Skies is my favorite song on the LP and my favorite section of the film. Absolutely terrifying recount of the horrors of war as seen through the eyes of a young child. Also love When the Tigers Broke Free for the same horrors as seen by a wide eyed young soldier's point of view, even if the song doesn't make it onto a Floyd LP until The Final Cut. The movie and LP really show how haunted Roger Waters was by his father getting killed in WWII, as his father had before him in WWI. Gave us a lot of tremendous music, but he definitely paid the price.
Load More Replies...Murder by Death Clue before Clue. Awesome cast Alec Guiness pre-Star Wars, Maggie Smith + more.
Snatch
Definitely doesn’t belong here. It’s a fine movie but not a must see.
Blood Diamond (2006). My geology teacher in high school actually had us watch it in class. It's a fairly accurate description of the dark side of the diamond industry.
Arsenic and Old Lace. One of the funniest movies I've ever seen.
The African Queen
Just got it on DVD for its 70th anniversary! Bogart and Hate Hepburn a dynamic duo!
Jaws. It changed people’s beach habits for years. If I happen across it on TV, I have to stop & watch it whatever point the movie is in every time.
Field of Dreams
Footloose
how many weddings have you attended that had songs from this movie? Lots.
Children of Men
12 Angry Men
This! Almost zero budget, all in one room, but the acting!! Fabulous film, everyone should watch it especially in 2021!!
North by Northwest A Summer Place Murder on the Orient Express Valley of the Dolls Gaslight (1944) Gone with the Wind The World According to Garp Forrest Gump The Exorcist
I have to laugh about the inclusion of "The Exorcist" My friend and I went to see it out of curiosity when it came out. Pretty sure we were still technically under age at the time. Back then there were Special K cereal ads on tv. One for instance had a little girl watching her Dad pack a suitcase, and it wouldn't close. The little girl pipes up " Get Mommy to sit on it, that will close it" and of course Mommy is just outside the door, and hears and starts eating the cereal to loose weight. (Fat shaming 70's style ) Anyway, at the beginning of The Excocist when the bed starts moving, my friend leans over and whispers in my ear, "get Mommy to sit on it, that'll stop it" Oh, my did I laugh out loud! Several of the audience members looked around thinking we were nuts! Then came the vomit. It looks like pea soup. And to us it was just silly and got sillier. By the end of the movie, the Entire audience was laughing at that movie!
The Killing Fields
Auntie Mame
Sully Tom Hanks is a brillant actor and Clint Eastwood did a great job as director
The Secret of Nimh - An animated classic.
Oh my! Not sure how old I was bit that movie scared me so much. I hated it, never wanted to watch that again. Not saying it is bad, I was either too young or I am too sensitive.
It wasnt scary to me maybe its because im not scared that easily by stuff like that

The Music Man with Robert Preston. The characters are loads of fun, and I've never seen a more powerful and commanding leading man. Just be ready to look past the antiquated ideas of courtship.
Cary Grant was offered the role of Prof. Harold Hill, but replied, "If you don't cast Robert Preston, not only will I not do it, I won't go see it!"
Pick a little, Talk a little, Pick a little, Talk a little. I grew up watching movies like that. South Pacific, Oklahoma
Silent Running
In my opinion, this is one of the best classic sci-fi movies. While it's a movie intended for the hippie generation, just like 2001, it not only manages to convey its messages without taking clear sides and offering an answer. It's about environmentalism, but shows how much wrong you can still do while being right. It conveys that there's still a wrong way in how to fight wrong. The special effects aren't the best for the time, but they had a tight budget and managed to build great sets with it. Just a shame that they had to rely on so many artificial plants instead of doing the shots for the domes outside, as originally planned.
Army of Darkness
the original Gojira. while most Godzilla films are quite goofy, this one is more of a horror/drama.
My favorite is Son of Godzilla; second place is Godzilla vs Mothra only because of the tiny Japanese twins
my little brother loves minya! also, fun fact: the tiny twins were pop stars in Japan when the movie was released.
Load More Replies...Good try, but Shin-Godzilla is better. Most of the movie is an anti-American snoozefest, but the monster scenes more than make up for it. This Godzilla truly is a horrible monster, with nothing more than the annihilation of mankind on it's mind.
I like that one too. but its not a classic. yet
Load More Replies...The Titanic
Shame it bore zero resemblance to actual events. Typical Hollywood "based on a true story, but we'll lie about almost everything" fluff. I can't remember which film, but I remember Hollywood doing a "based on a true story" where they toned it down from facts because it "wasn't believable"!
I have never seen The Titanic. I tried being the last anachronism and not get a cell phone but necessity dictated that I had to, so I decided to be the last person who has never seen The Titanic. I hear its good...
The Exorcist. Scariest movie ever.
Borderline funny nowadays? My best friend and I went to see it in high school, a Catholic one no less. We had trouble not to burst out laughing at the special effects like the pea soup barf.

Blazing Saddles - Mel Brooks was “Woke” before it was a thing. This movie has a unique style of comedy as it makes fun of the stereotypical racist. It’s intelligent yet childish jokes will keep your attention from beginning to end
The Mummy, with Brendan Frazer, Rachel Weisz, John Hannah, Oded Fehr and Arnold Vosloo. Infinitely enjoyable. Witty and the coolest special effects.

Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner (1967). Eloquent acting, Katharine Hepburn, Spencer Tracy’s last movie, interracial marriage when it was still banned in 17 states. In 2017, the film was selected for preservation in the United States National Film Registry by the Library of Congress as being "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant".
One of my all time favs! Katherine Hepburn never watched it because of Spencer Tracy’s death afterwards. Phenomenal duo and both are greats in their movies without the other as well.

I have tried to see this multiple times and have to turn it off when the young fella is picked on and bullied.

I read the book as a child, and had me giggling on and on and on! Never saw the movie though.....
How to Steal a Million. Although better known for Sabrina and Roman Holiday, Audrey Hepburn is utterly charming and funny in this classic comedic crime caper / romance. She and Peter O’Toole have more chemistry than she and Bogart ever did. This film is classy and clever in a way that’s rarely found in modern films.
The boy in the striped pajamas. My God, did that movie hit me sideways!

Screwball comedies of the 1930’s and 40’s are wonderful. Films like Bringing Up Baby, My Man Godfrey, The Awful Truth, Ninotchka, Ball Of Fire, The Lady Eve and more.
Don't forget The Philadephia Story - Cary Grant, Katharine Hepburn & Jimmy Stewart (he won an Oscar for this film)
Love all of these! I would also add the Thin Man movies with William Powell and Myrna Loy.
The Seventh Seal by Swedish director Ingemar Bergman. Or choose some other of his movies. There is a reason he was knownas a genious director.
Pans Labyrinth
Cool runnings Beetlejuice Mary Poppins Mrs Doubtfire Uncle Buck Secret Garden Clueless Annie
Whatever happened to Baby Jane(1962)- I'm so old this was the first movie I ordered from Netflix in the mail
The Lake House. Sandra Bullock and Keeanu Reeves
Dancer in the Dark
Protip for this movie: Don't fall asleep during the first half, you will not now what to do during the second half.
I see some truly classic movies that were remade under other titles. (Hollywood has been out of great ideas for a long time but here’s my submission) Godfather (1) Of Mice and Men Mr. Blanding Builds His Dream House Inherit The Wind Look Who’s Coming to Dinner (a movie that STILL holds up today and no one can compete with Hepburn and Tracy) Gettysburg To Kill A Mocking Bird (still controversial but an important movie) Rear Window And the ENTIRE Mel Brookes catalog …
I'd have to agree with Elaine on this one, I hate it!

Dead Zone starring Christopher Walken, Martin Sheen and Tom Skerritt. Shines a light on what some people might do to gain power and those who cover it up for them.

Actually they did make Twilight Zone The Movie. Sadly the actor Vic Morrow was killed in a helicopter accident while on the filming on the set.
Two kids were also killed in the helicopter accident.
Load More Replies...Flawless. Phillip Seymor Hoffman did such an absolutely amazing performance, truly amazing. Such a shame he died, he was a very, VERY talented man!
An Affair to Remember (grab your tissues), The Philadelphia Story (best opening sequence of a movie ever - no dialogue, but the acting tells you everything you need to know), The Thin Man (the writing and acting is superb, plus the gowns are to die for), Hud (Newman is brilliant), Metropolis. I could go on and on.
Dial M for Murder
The little mermaid
The 1939 version of The Women. Superb cast and amazing wardrobe.
Fiddler on the roof Jesus Christ Superstar
Fiddler on the Roof is incredible then again it is a musical and I love musicals.
Rocky the original. Other movies are just basking the glory of the first one. And yes It deserved the Oscar and not Taxi driver.
Contact
The Dark Crystal The Secret of NIMH
The Sting - can't believe it hasn't been mentioned! Incredible cast. Pirates of the Caribbean - Curse of the Black Pearl (went way downhill in the sequels, but the original film pulled off the perfect pirate saga) The King's Speech - Geoffrey Rush is amazing in everything! A Very Good Year - a young Russell Crowe and an excellent film set in Provence Almost Famous - yes, I still maintain the 60's and 70's rock music is the best ever! Better Off Dead - a very young John Cusack and yes, that is EXACTLY how I remember high school... Who Am I This Time? - a short film that has Christopher Walken and Susan Sarandon in a delightful comedy.
Some of my favorites are (in no particular order): Die Hard The Big Lebowski The Shawshank Redemption American History X The Matrix Office Space Dumb and Dumber Almost Famous
Angel Heart (1987) Mickey Rourke (when he looked human) and Robert De Niro star in a neo-noir psychological horror based on the 1978 novel Falling Angel by William Hjortsberg. A genuine classic.

Agree with all of these. I just can't watch Old Yeller again because the waterworks will flow.
M (1931) Not only does this movie tell you a lot about the society, crime and police work at the time, it also conveys strong messages how two wrongs don't make a right and how legal punishment shouldn't be revenge - all while being a thrilling crime movie.
Marty. why? because it has ernest borgnine in his oscar performance as a person who learns, with difficulty, that physical beauty is shallow and the opinions of friends is nothing when it comes to realizing this. great film
I love this movie! The "plain" girl was played by Betsy Blair who was married to my favourite, Gene Kelly
The Quiet Man
The Addams Family The Addams Family Values Splash The Little Mermaid A Goofy Movie Home Alone 1 & 2 (That's where it should have stopped) Parenthood (w/ Steve Martin) The Black Stallion Cast Away Apollo 13 Beaches Who Framed Roger Rabbit?
Smart House. It's brilliant! Shot in 1999 it's the story of a boy, whose father is widower and can't handle the daily chores in the household. But in a lottery the first prize is a smart home, impersonated as a woman. (Katey Sagal) She makes a lot of trouble to her owners and yeah, pretty good film. Watch it!
To add some diversity, here some German movies: Metropolis Die Feuerzangenbowle Das Boot And from Austria: Sissi Sissi - Die junge Kaiserin Sissi - Schicksalsjahre einer Kaiserin
Now, Voyager, and old Bette Davis film

Tombstone, Val Kilmer deserves awards for his performance as Doc Holiday. Val and Kurt Russell showed more heart and acting skills than Costner’s lame Wyatt Earp.

Lemony snickets a series of unfourtunate events, either the movie or netflix show. Both are a charm!
The netflix series was great! I hated that they cancelled it. It was so well done. And you had to hate Neil Patrick Harris, he was so good as the villain! I hope you get what I mean!
God! I cant even explain how much i loved Neil as olaf! I like how they ended it but they should've done a spinoff on where Klaus Sunny and Violet and the baby went,

Scarface. All these movies and nobody mentioned it despite it being the one of the best movies of its time.
Bringing Up Baby, Used Cars, Hair, The Ten Commandments, A Boy And His Dog
I've said it once and I'll say it again: Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping. It isn't a classic, however it's one of the best comedies I've ever seen. It also has a sweet message aside from being hilarious. It's very underrated :) I recommend it highly!
