I’m saving up for a manga box set. What about you?

I DREAM of becoming an astrophysicist and studying the universe. So for the easier time one, probably a telescope! The bigger thing to save for is university, preferably MIT!
I was into astronomy when younger and got away from it for years. Surprising how far the quality and abilities of the new equipment is, especially solar scopes. While saving up you can look for a local astronomy club, some have loaner scopes for members. There is even the odd library which have loaners.
I recently gave my skywatcher 200p to a friend of mine because it just wasn't getting used much. Not that I'm not still keen on astronomy, just that for someone with a disability it just got too hard to get it out to the yard and set up for a few hours use. There's an awful of weight in a decent mount and counterweights, nevermind the weight of the scope itself. Glad it's going to get more use in my friend's hands though...and I know he'll invite me along when he's using it. If I'd not had a friend who was also keen on astronomy, then I'd have looked for someone like you to give it to so good luck with your quest and happy stargazing :)
If you're extremely passionate about it then don't give up! Enjoy it!
Earning my college degree a couple classes at a time, and doing it without loans or scholarships, completely out of my own pocket.
Maybe it sounds stupid, but sneakers (and maybe some socks if I can catch a sale) - like I said, it sounds stupid.
Good quality sneakers are important. I'm not ever going back to off brand.
Anything not expensive. (And I was gifted the iPad I use now) …

Dental work. I hope my teeth hold together long enough to get them fixed
I can relate. I had bad teeth for about 5 years and it8 was truly traumatic. People may say it doesn't matter but that's b******t. I lost my personality and couldn't get a decent job, despite being highly qualified. I couldn't get a full time job that would either pay enough for dental care or have dental benefits. I did the research; found a part time union job that paid about 70 percent dental care after 8 months of unemployment. It was embarrassing being judged by co workers and customers for 8 agonizing months. But. It. Finally. Paid. Off. It was one of the best days of my life!!. I slept with a compact mirror and bought lipstick for the first time in half a decade. You can do it too!! I'm rooting for you!!.
I also had problems with my teeth. I was so self conscious, I wouldn’t even smile and would barely even talk. Now I had braces and have been taking better care of my teeth.
Load More Replies...I don't know why dental work is always excluded in insurance plans for adults.
You're right. It makes no sense whatsoever. An abscessed tooth can kill you just as dead as a heart attack.
Load More Replies...I totally get that- I was lucky to finally get to the top of the public dentistry waiting list recently; I had one tooth pulled and have many filling to come.
Yeah from 16 to 26 I had really f****d up/missing teeth my parents couldn't afford braces. As an adult I paid 7,000 and got 2 bridges, now I have beautiful teeth. I understand your pain my friend, it will get better
Been there. I am working off my loan for my teeth. (Housework, cooking, laundry, whatever needs doing)
With the actual inflation i'm saving up for the next grocery shopping right now.
I have oodles of recipes that are quite tasty from product from any Dollar General. And cheater recipes like mad. Happy to help.
Goin’ down the shore next month for the first vaca. In decades! Don’t wanna skimp or have to think about $, so we’ve been saving like crazy. Prolly won’t even spend it all, but it’ll be so nice to splurge. We’ve earned it after the last 6 years. Take that, cancer!
Yeah buddy! Have a wonderfully magical time. Homemade magic is always the best magic
Paying off my student loan. Will be fully paid off in July next year unless I manage to pay extra money. But in max. 1 year I'll be debt free! After that I want to save up to have a good music player (for both cds and tapes) and a grammophone. And I have begun on a weight loss journey two days ago. I am doing it differently this time and I hope that it will work. ( no counting calories. Learning to love exercise. Have exercise be my goals instead of numbers on the scale. Stop comfort eating. Stop overeating. Cutting down on sugar and light-products....). I will save up to buy new clothes for when i have lost ca 20kgs and again when I have lost 35-40kgs. Music and clothes for a happier and prettier me. 🤘😎🤘
Getting student loans finally paid off is a wonderful feeling. Good luck with the weight loss although you should give yourself a good cheat day when you make that last payment.
Haha! I will be having plenty of cheat days along the way. 😁 I will be less strict when I am at parties and get-togethers. I will hopefully find a good balance between eating for my health and eating for fun. :)

Years of dreaming about independence and having my own space are finally coming true. I signed the lease with tears in my eyes and every bitter moment at work is worth the bright future ahead of me
College. My dad is emotionally abusive, so I don't expect for him to help me pay for it unless I stay at home after I'm 18, which for the good of my mental health, I'm not doing. Plus, even if he did pay for it or even help pay for it, he would hold it over my head, and that's not an option.
I hope you're looking into grants, work study programs & scholarships. Congrats & best of luck!
Unfortunately, I am restricted to staying at my house, so no license, little access to the outside world, and I'm not allowed to get into programs or anything that would help me get scholarships or grants. I make music and write journalism stories, but neither of those will get me enough money to go to college

My daughter's future. Whatever she decides to do once she's done with school, I want her to have whatever she needs and be able to pay for it. I'll gladly go without if it means she never has to experience debt.
1000 dollars because currently if you donate over a 1000 dollars the the Ukrainian military you get a piece of a crashed su 34 and im a massive aviation nerd
Wondering if we can do something like. For every donation of 5G, can you slap a Russian General. But just one slap so make it count. Get a good solid lick on the palm, stretch, get a good half twist, and boomerang slap them. (Make sure it’s recorded in slo mo so you can see the sonic slap, and ripple …. Too much?)
Sounds stupid maybe, but heels and a wig. I finally want to explore crossdressing, and these two things are going to be most costly
Have you seen Kinky Boots? There is so much info in that movie. And don't forget your walk. Toes pointed forward instead of outward. You don't sound stupid and I hope you'll get the heels and wig
No I haven't, but will do. Thanks for the tipps
Load More Replies...I don't think that's stupid at all. Check out Janet's Closet!!! There's everything you could need/want/dream of!! I wish you the very best of luck!! 💜
My wigs are only cheap acrylic but they look well enough if you get a shape that suits you. You may find suitable shoes at a charity shop or thrift shop. These options would be a good start
You can actually find pretty good heels at thrift stores like Goodwill for cheap (if you aren't looking for like super nice ones of course). I've found really cute stuff there before! Good luck and best wishes! ♡
I hope to find some, but my feet are quite big

A new computer. This one is over seven years old and while it was top of the line when I got it, it's starting to have issues...
My husband has been using the same Macbook pro for about 12 years. It's a little slower than it used to be but surprisingly ok overall. But like others said, we don't need it for a lot of new software or anything super heavy-duty. I have a newer Dell laptop for that (but the charging port gave out in less than 6 months, I don't recommend. We have to leave the charger slightly out of the port and wrap in under the back of the computer to keep it taught)
Dating myself here, but things were built to last back in my day. I don't WANT to be a part of the "disposable generation" but unfixable products give no choice. Seven years old should NOT be too old to be usable, especially since software is easily upgraded.
To be fair, he's probably referring to requirements for new programs and/or games. A 7-year old PC should work fine physically, but would definitely have "issues" running new titles. And an SSD is defo super sketchy after a few years of heavy daily use!

I will be 50 in 2 years. For the last 10 years, I have been saving for this Birthday Milestone. August 2024, (my birthday month) I will "backpack" thru Europe and the UK. Staying in hotels along the way, Just take my time and go to places I love in Europe and UK (I have been to places in Europe/UK but it seemed so rushed. I want to enjoy it at my pace)
YaY for August Birthdays....

Good luck with it, and if you've not been already I can really recommend the area around Galloway forest in Scotland to hike and camp. I can't hike anymore but my mates carry my backpack for me to the camping spots and treat me like the elder statesman xd
Thank you. I will look in Galloway. I am not much of a camper, but I do like hiking :)
Load More Replies...A professional oboe.
I’m an oboist and have a student model. I can’t reach a lot of notes because it’s missing a certain fingering. Professional grade oboes sound better, are made usually of granadilla wood, have higher quality keys (some are plated with silver), and can use different types of reeds instead of the standard cork style reed. I’m still in high school, so I’m saving my money for other things too. A professional grade oboe can cost somewhere around 10-15,000$.
Honestly didn’t know what an oboe was until I just looked it up. I realized that I’ve seen them many times and just always assumed they were some kind of flute
A lot of people confuse the oboe for a clarinet actually! I never even heard of someone considering it a flute until now. But yes, the flute And oboe are in the same pitch, but modern flutes get their fingerings from the oboe, but they are mainly similar. A flute can go higher than an oboe, but an oboe can play slightly lower than a flute. Oboe use a double Reed (two reeds placed together, but not completely together), while flutes don’t even use reeds. (Of course, that is a common fact). Oboe is considered one of the hardest instruments, but in reality, once you can use a Reed well, it gets really easy. I love playing my oboe. I’ve heard of people taking months to get a single sound out of a Reed, but I never had that problem. I could do it first try. There is another oboist in my band, and my band teacher is very surprised that there are two. I’m sorry, I just went on a random rant, but the oboe is an interesting instrument. I wish it got more recognition.

I'm a mermaid performer at a local aquarium. (I talk to kids and take pictures with them) I'd love a silicone mermaid tail, and I'm saving up, but with college and everything I'm nowhere close

If you don’t mind me asking, what is a “manufactured home”? Is it like a trailer or something?
Similar to a mobile home. Manufactured or Modular homes are very nice these days. Looked at some today. Stick homes have skyrocketed. I saw a 1900sf 4/3 home with upgrades for $175,000. Stick home would be closer to $300k for that. But unless you have land, be prepared to pay $500-$600 a month for rental fees in a community. And the price doesn't include moving it, hooking it up, taxes, etc. But they're beautiful homes
Hmm, let's see . . . I'm saving for a '67 cherry red mustang convertible, a Gryffindor jacket, this really pretty skirt and a vest and tucxido for my cat, Timothy❤️

I saw a post here where someone's mom wouldn't let them have a Pride flag, so they made one out of world flags on their closet door. It was genius.
I did too! It was really funny but unlike their parents, my parents support me but they don't want me to spend money on it and then change my sexuality. But they did say we could maybe go to the next pride parade (if the fam is feeling like it which I think is dumb) but hey. It's something.

A new pair of Doc Martens. I've had my current pair for about 4 years, but they have definitely been through hell and back after seeing nearly daily wear for that whole time. I came to call them my toe savers after using them to help lower heavy platforms so everyone else could get their fingers out. They are very scuffed up, the soles just aren't what they used to be, ect. I'm loathed to replace them because they've really become a part of my routine, silly as it sounds. But the universe recently sent me a sign to just do it through one of the laces beginning to wear away. So I'm planning on honorably retiring them and buying a new pair of Docs for the upcoming school year.
Retirement fund cos as it stands at the moment, it’s not worth a light!
I would like to save up for a trip to Bayeux France and see the Bayeux Tapestry and then to Lascaux to see the cave (well replica) once travel gets back to something "normal"
Lascaux 2 is well worth the experience, the hairs will stand up on the back of your neck even though you know it's not the original
We already got the tickets but I'm saving my money for Anime Expo!
A small lathe so I can get back into turning wood bowls and cups.
Wish I'd seen this about 2 years ago. My grandfather had a large lathe that he used to make replacement table/chair legs and baseball bats for the family. After my father passed, it was donated to a school.
These tiny keyrings from Japan, theyre tiny about an inch big. I love fossils and dinosaurs and there’s a little ammonite and my favourite pterosaur Quetzalcoatlus 😍
I want an ammonite on my backpack when im fossil hunting 😄
OMG my friend just told me about the Quetzalcoatl and I love them, they are so cool!! Look them up, I recommend it
A Skirt. I want one but my mom wont get me it so :/
She puts off everything saying she will do it later, took her two years to get me a haircut and I've learned never to trust her words
Load More Replies...Is it a specific skirt or just one in general? If you know a few sewing basics, skirts can be done easily, even with a beginner. You can even turn old shorts or pants into a skirt, or any material, and anything can be the material. 😊 YouTube tutorials are helpful. You can also look at thrift stores, and get one cheap
This might sounds frivolous, but I'm really getting into woodworking and up-cycling pallets. I'm trying to sell some things I've made to buy a electronic planer, a decent one costs £350+.
Not frivolous at all. The amount of wood wasted in pallet making and scrapping is ridiculous. I'm always glad when I see people reusing them.
At the moment it's a decent electric bicycle - I can't peddle a normal one anymore cause of lung damage from chemo but my missus really loves to ride her bike along the coast (we live about 200m from the sea). There are a few cheaper ones that I could get right now, but they're mostly crappier motors and firmly aimed more as 'peddle assist' ones that expect you to do half the work too... which I can't manage. I need one that's basically an electric wheelchair but bike shaped xd
I’ve seen those before! I have asthma, but I have a normal bike even though I am gasping for air for a couple of minutes.
I have a Jetson foldable electric bike, it's nice, and goes roughly 10 miles on a charge (depending on your weight) and I got mine for 330 USD. I've seen how much full sized ones go for, so maybe this could be a good affordable ride. I hope you will eventually find one that you'll be happy with!
ummm im not allowed to spend my own money lol but if I was I would save up for a bike because I love cycling
Oh hell no...once bills are paid...and foods been bought it is mine and it will be spent how I see fit
Same. I don't have any control of my money. My parents keep it hidden in their room
a wacom tablet so i can use krita better and maybe be able to expand my small businesses more
Currently manifesting my first overseas trip in over 3 years. I WILL go to Iceland next year
Can I do past tense? If so, today I just bought a Japanese maple tree on sale! I had been waiting for months, for my local greenhouse to sell them, and permission from my landlady (mainly the permission). I'm so excited! I'm sorry if this doesn't fit properly here! Have a marvelous day to everyone!
Probably a newer laptop, I need one because my old one is well, old.
The refrigerator of my dreams. Appliances change your life every day!
Lowes has bran new refrigerators for a quarter to half price because someone bought them and then returned them. These refrigerators are actually brand new but they have to deal with some kind of law. Basically you can get one of those smart fridges with the screen for the price of a really really crappy fridge. I’ve done it before when my fridge got filled with flys after a power outage and these fridges are perfectly fine and you even get free delivery sometimes
Paying my rent in Denver that just went up $150 for no reason.

I’m currently saving all of my change up so my dad can get a drink and a breakfast sandwich from Starbucks :) . He’s a penny pincher, so he always feels guilty if he spends money for himself, but would buy anything for his family. He works day and night, so we can have money. I love him, and I know it’s not a lot, but I’m hoping that if I just buy it with spare change, he would feel less guilty enjoying it.

Going to Disney world soon, saving up to get souvenirs. (Parents are paying for trip, I'm a teenager) Also, I want a Mikan cosplay (I'm her exact weight and height)
I am saving up for a pet
Do factor in medical bills. My cat requires about $1000 worth of dental work PER YEAR. There is more to pet ownership than playing, feeding, and walking. Hope you find the right fit for you.
Make sure you do your research before hand I got a dog and he has leg problems that cost 13,000$ the first time and 7,000 for the second segery even then he would be absolutely dieing after a half mile and Eneas a total idiot bc he kept running into walls. Just be careful and avoid the puppy mills also pay attention when you see the dog and do not be afraid to say no!

An accustic guitar. I used to try around a little with the guitar of a friend one time and I loved the feeling and the sound. Also, a new laptop. I have one (plus a tablet) but its quite old and has some technical issues. Plus, a little piece of furniture to place my TV on and to put some chosen favourite books inside.

I just want an affordable computer that actually works and is not a stupid idiotic chrome book because you can’t do anything with this things and I just started a business with my friend that requires a computer!!!! Sorry for all the ranting I just really had to get that out. Basically I’m saving up for a computer that is good enough to actually work.
