Most reality "stars", namely the Kardashian/Jenners.
I tried watching 5 minutes of The Kardashians and now I realize why we have to do things like write "do not eat" on dry silica packets.
The Krapdashians..a family that hates one another, and themselves equally. Kylie should sue them all for having their faces stapled back on, to look just like her fake face.
YES YES YES.!!! Overated, stupid people!!! Only thing they know how to do is be celebrities. But somebody knew how to market them, namely mama. She made herself and the girls billions. To think a dynasty started with a sex tape.
The K-J's are ridiculous! Their 'we're owed everything' attitudes make me sick.
Influencers. They are not a god
A positive side: for every person that becomes an influencer, there is a job that's filled by someone who actually wants to work, or a seat at a college for someone who wants to study.
Someone who calls themself an influencer is usually just a legend in their own mind. It takes more than a pretty/handsome face and an attitude to become one.
They certainly have a god complex though... It's ok to give your opinion, give honest reviews and whatnot but some of these people just... ugh... I can't
Influencer is the wrong word. We should call them show-boaters or attention-seekers. Maybe even leeches
A. It's not a job. B. Anybody who is 'influenced' by these people should be locked up for their own protection.
I don't get the whole influencer thing.. like I'm just going to trot right out, and do what some uneducated, unemployable dipshits says.
Being influenced by someone doesn't mean they should get paid. So example, if someone said to you, you really positively influenced my decision of .... does that person that influenced that person should say " OK, now pay for that!" Uh. No....they should just thank them and go on their merry way. These " Social Influencers" aren't giving themselves the right title...they haven't even researched what that word means. Look it up ppl.
Tik Tok
Social media in general, I'd say. Some people spend way too much time checking for likes and new posts. Their smartphones seem to be glued to their hands. I keep mine in my coat pocket or bag. As for social media, I only check them from my laptop at home and then only a select few sites, boredpanda being one of them.
Yeah this is really messing w marriage and relationships. The partner disconnect is unreal. I think some of these tik tok groups are cults otl. I've really watched someone I've known for years constantly go against their better judgment for this tik tok group, and now his wife is cheating on him.
1) The expectation that life owes you something. 2) The need to have the very best the very first go. My first car wasn’t what I wanted, it was what I could afford, same with my first rental, my first house, my first job… 3) The belief that your opinion is sacrosanct and that anyone who disagrees with it is “Disrespecting” you.
This is supposed to be a list of overrated things...not a list of grievances/opinions...but I 100% agree with the thought here
Especially when the violation of any of these results in gunfire.
#3. What happened to being able to talk to someone about differing opinions rather than stating a fight? You know, an actual discussion where two different people can find common ground and be friends?
When too many people started believing that their hate speech was their opinion and that they were entitled to express it to any and everyone. People started getting defensive (overly so in some cases)
Load More Replies...I would like to add that, as a 50yo male, I actually see this stuff more often, or at very least just as much, from folks older than me than I do from those younger. Maybe just in my zone, but needed saying as I'm sure to not be the only one.
Beyonce
Breaks record at Grammys, whines because she didn't get ROTY. Her and her fans are ridiculous.
A lot of pop stars may have some talent but lets be honest it is all their drama and sleazy clothes that get them further.
No freaking doubt!! She is like 40, goes on stage in less than underwear..GROW UP ALREADY. And for the love of God tell your boyfriend to get a hair cut!!!
Beauty standards. Do I need to elaborate?
First off, love the username, and second off, I could not agree more, the girls faces at my school are CAKED in makeup, they are starving themselves, their arms a like twigs, 90 percent of them have boyfriends that they cheat on with at least two other guys, their grades are terrible, they are always fighting, they don't do any of their work, their spoiled rotten, and their generally very rude to me...
Load More Replies...this is so true, people at my school are always loaded on make-up, have like a different boyfriend every week, and are always disrespecting EACH OTHER. we literally just had a fight on Thursday where this girl was spreading rumors about another and the girl beat the s**t out of her. and half of them are throwing up in the bathrooms! WE ARE IN THE SEVENETH GRADE, ENJOY IT WHILE IT LASTS.
Who's to decide what's beautiful and what isn't? Different people, different cultures. We're all beautiful in our own way.
homophobes and transphobes!
Because.. homophobes and transphones are overrated? Doesn't make much sense and doesn't answer the question
Load More Replies...We need to drop the “phobes” thing, just because someone doesn’t like something doesn’t mean they are afraid of it. Maybe they are just a piece of s**t.
Imagine if it was an actual phobia/fear. Like: a homophobic lady sees two men holding hands, clearly in love with eachother, she proceeds to freeze in place, then suddenly runs in the opposite direction while screaming in actual fear like she's about to die. That would be hilarious... at first.
Load More Replies...I think the list was "overrated" things. Homophobes and transphobes get burnt alive on internet, so they definitely are not "overrated". Whether they are sufficiently underrated of course is a separate question. I'd say not.
Depends on where on the internet.. sometimes it's painful to read
Load More Replies...I disagree. They're not overrated, they can cause actual harm. That said, down with homophobia and transphobia and any other discriminatory "movement", ew!
I mean the people who ARE the homophobes and transphobes.. Not the people who are homosexual or transsexual. Somehow felt the need to clarify that.

I don't know what system to replace it but the cult followings and popularity contests it has all devolved into are childish and keeping us as a whole from reaching our potential. I can imagine a Galactic organization of civilizations occasionally checking in on us - "No, they are nowhere near ready for contact."
Politics is people not hitting each other with rocks and clubs. As bad as it is, there is worse.
It depends on your country. I think some countries do have reasonably mature ways to handle political debates. The popularity contest stuff is recent and seems to have arisen with the american presidential campaign stuff. I remember a time in my country where we hardly knew who was who, but stuff got done. It has now devolved into popularity contests and big shows much like the american model.
I agree and something I don't understand is when they are done in job they still get 100% of their salary. Most of us don't get that when we quit our job or retire.
People are so very busy trying to push down the ideas of others. Just because they're on the opposite side of the fence. And that's all it is -- a well paid brawl. And who loses? The rest of us who are just trying to earn a living and be good parents and citizens.
This country needs to get over trump and elect a Ronald Reagan or G W Bush Sr. Again

music used to be good quality music coming out of the radio now most of the stuff that gets played i have no clue how they got signed to a label let alone make it all the way on the radio
Something i can't understand: why are musicians afraid to sing alone? Every song is X ft. Y or A ft. B and C and D.Can't have talent by your own? And another thing, stop using 'Lil' as part of your name, sounds stupid.
I haven't really listened to the radio in years. I just let the Spotify algorithm find things for me. Found a lot of cool obscure music that way. Whole genres that never see airtime. You ever heard of Filk? It's folk music with Sci-Fi themes. Lot of fun. Dreampop? Good working music. Future Funk, mostly in Japanese but super bouncy and fun. Electro-swing is another favorite for me. It's swing music with drum machines and synths. I digress, but there's a ton of good music out there if you get off the beaten path.
Have you never watched Big Bang Theory? Two characters play Filk songs, 🎼"Thor and Dr Jones, Thor and Dr Jones, one plays with lightning, the other plays with bones🎶🎶 I finish the boxset on Netflix and just restart it again - Netflix customer care occasionally reach out to ask if I'm okay 😂

Load More Replies...Today's music all sound the same ! It's Always the same thunes, melodies, lyrics, topics, and so on ! Am I alone here ?
depends on which radio stations you listen to. I've given up on radio ages ago. Go onto youtube or whatever and play a few songs you like. It will then recommend similar things to your taste. For example, if you like Swing from the 1920s, look up neoswing. If you like 1980s synthpop, look up retrowave. Etc. There is good music out there.
Ozzy Osbourne, the late great Randy Rhodes, Pink Floyd, Credence Clearwater Revival, Reba McIntyre, Aretha Franklin; these were musicians. Justin Bieber is NOT MUSIC!!!!
You just described Ernest, Hardy, Parker McCollum and (drumroll please) Morgan Wallen
Taylor Swift. I like some of her songs, don't get me wrong, but I just don't understand Swiftie culture. Basically I'm saying I wouldn't stand in line for 3+ hours to get a T Swift concert ticket.
I mean no one wants to go through ticketmaster anymore because it's a scam so I'd rather wait in line. Not for swift though.
Load More Replies...All pop mega stars. Sure, she can sing well, and the songs are fine: But there's literally hundreds of thousands of singers out there who are just as good as her.
I don't mind some of her music. She can sing well live and that's always a plus for me. Her acoustic performances are always great. She also has songs that have a good hook and if that's your kind of music then it's fine. Some of her lyrics are trying too hard to be deep, but for the most part I don't mind her music. I jam when I hear Shake it Off, lol. The only thing I don't like about her is that she tries too hard to be cool. I feel like she's performing but not for her music, to be some kind of hip and cool character. She's awkward and it comes off as embarrassing. I wish she'd just stick to singing and playing her instruments and she'd be fine. Stop trying to be cool.
Honestly I was waiting for this one to devolve into hate and I'm impressed it didn't. It's nice to see someone have a balanced opinion of her. Not an obsessed fan but also not someone who loathes her
Personally I find anyone overrated if you pay the same amount of ticket price to nice stay in hotel for the weekend.
I'm so over her. She's flooded the market with her music. Don't know how she still stays on top. Those top performers, if you can even GET a ticket, it's over $500++.. Hooray for Ticketmaster! (sarcastic)
Grading on the curve. Students should be graded on their own accomplishments, their own progress.
There are many places where grading on a curve is appropriate. When picking a surgeon, I want the one who has a 99.97% rate of survival who is graded an "A" on the curve over the surgeon rated a "D" with a 91% survivability rate. That 91% isn't an "A" effort. If doing surgery every day, the first one loses a patient every 9 years. The second one loses a patient about every 12 days (32 a year).
For every doctor who graduated at the top of the class, there's always one who graduated at the BOTTOM of the class. You don't want him.
Load More Replies...Anyone who has ever taught at an academic level gets the grading on a curve.
Grading on the curve is pretty old, we did it in the 1990s in my country.
Grading on a curve is basically grading individuals relative to the whole. Standardized grading is more objective in that the grade is derived by comparison to an objective standard.
Load More Replies...Dark Fantasy. It completely dominates all media (Game of Thrones in TV, Dark Souls / Elden Ring in gaming, The Witcher in literature) while always using the same rehashed medieval-European settings, the same tropes, the same character archetypes. Plus the authors seem to have a contest about who can create the most bleak, depressing and needlesly violent story ever. Never understood the appeal.
I didn't enjoy GoT and its Dragon prequel for precisely this reason. My life is already bleak and depressing, so why would I want to make it more so?
Because some people like to make themselves feel better by watching other people's misery....
Load More Replies...I just had a new idea for a fantasy novel set in my time and country. Thanks
But if you are danish, you already have the first actual horror story and probably first story in english, set in your country. Beowulf.
Load More Replies...Funny you should say that, considering that the author of GOT takes European history as the basis of his plots and gussies them up. And it's depressing before he gets his hands on it and he makes it even more so.
I don't watch most c**p on TV or go to movies because it's generally dark, depressing and violent, or insanely stupid. What I prefer to watch, and what's in my DVD library are films and TV series that give me a sense of hope, but not bs la-di-da hope like Gilmore Girls. I'm not a big sci-fi fan, but I get the appeal of the Star Trek franchise and the premise of "learn as you grow". That's what real life is like-learn and grow from the knowledge you acquire.
Op knows nothing of the genre if they can't find dark fantasy that isn't set in medieval Europe. The entire genre has a standard of having beauty/humor in the world even if it's bleak. If the op can't understand the genre or Google anything on it why should their opinion be considered valid
Don't get me wrong, but Got and Witcher is by no means dark fantasy in any form they take, and frankly I don't think Elden Ring even truly falls in that sub,
My life is depressing enough without watching these dark themed movies and TV shows. I do not watch them. Network TV has been reduced to mindless game shows. Is that really what Americans want to watch? They must be cheaper to produce. I will watch the good police shows that are on network, but not much else. PBS, History Channel, etc, have great programs. Occasionally, I like to learn something from TV.
Food. Fancy restaurant food that has flowers or unnecessary garnish. cupcakes with cereal on the icing. Looks pretty, how does it taste? Medicine advertised on TV
Even worse are dishes that combine really questionable ingredients like "goat liver tartare with a souffle of pickled heirloom tomatoes, kimchi, and brussels sprouts topped with a crumble of truffle-oil infused limburger cheese and crisped plantain skins".

I was recently delighted with the beautiful design the chef had made of my meal. As to flowers, some orchids are edible.
Quite a few flowers are edible, and lavender is an essential ingredient in herbs de Provence, a blend I love.
Load More Replies...Yeah no I like my comfort food places and the food is so much that often take half it home for later.
Yes, it's pretty food on a plate, just a morsel of food, but is it worth the price? Not usually. I don't do brand name clothes, which I could wear for many years and thus the price might be sustainable, but if my meal is going to cost me more than a month's wages for the brand name of the chef, I'm going to pass.
First, medicine on TV ads. Half the time, they don't even tell you what the med is for. "Ask your doctor..." Billions of $$ spent on those ads. In the amount of time I've been writing this, there have been 5 drug ads on TV.. Fancy food restaurants with 14 courses. What's that about? Appetizers, entree with meat or vegetarian, your sides, and dessert. What more is there? Is my broccoli a "course?" K-I-S-S. What's with simple cupcakes with 2-3 inches of icing on top? Is that icing to cover up a cheap, crappy tasting cake? No wonder there's so much type 2 diabetes in this country. Personally, I don't mind a piece of curly parsley or edible flower (lots of restaurants put a flower on your plate in HI) as long as it's not used to cover up bad food. I know the difference.
Dining out/ fast food. It used to be good, but I swear every place just sucks nowadays.
It's because the employees are paid minimum wage. Where I am, that's about 14 dollars an hour..
Load More Replies...I would say restaurant chains in general. I prefer local in my hometown and when traveling.
It now costs over $40.00 for 2 sandwiches and 2 sides and 2 drinks at our local restaurant. We only went with a coupon. Now they no longer offer coupons . Heck, Mickey D's quarter pounder meal (medium) is now almost $11.00! And it's so unsatisfying.
Yes! And the McDonald's ceo saying that people aren't complaining about prices yet so they won't come down. Notice how they don't really have any promos lately too? Greedy greedy.
Load More Replies...I don't eat fast food because for that price I can go to a nice local food restaurant and get better quality cood.
I just wish there were more options for food in general. In major cities-ny, la, etc- sometimes there are more. But everywhere else it's like...some form of sandwiches, chinese/asian or pizza. Even at the grocery store I'm like... we need new types of food. I'm so tired of the same things. I'm tired of spending 200 dollars at the store and doing that refrigerator shuffle of 'there's nothing to eat' so you close the door, then adjust your expectations and go back and decide a single slice of cheese is enough.
I swear, we've been programmed to endure bad food. McD's sucks now. At least where I live. Prices have dramatically gone up. Quality is down. The chicken nuggets are HALF the size. The simple hamburger? Patty is really thin and only covers 2/3 of the bun. Even the fry containers seem smaller. KFC - 2 piece chicken, one side and small drink $10. WTF? I won't do it. I'd rather spend $12-$15 for a burger in a nicer restaurant, if I know it's going to be good. McD's, you suck. Wendy's and Arbys are better. But not by much. I'll eat my burgers at home.
I’ll start, I guess. My biggest pet peeve is this “aesthetic studying” trend. I think it’s great to have cute pens, a clean study space, etc, but honestly, I feel like a lot of study posts nowadays are more focused on the pretty aspect of studying rather than, ya know, being productive and practical. It’s really bad, learning should be about learning, not making cute notes.
I don't know what that is but I'm a more of a I'll do it on the day kinda guy. I read stuff but I never had any fancy study space and I reckon I only ever took notes because everyone else was lol I know teach high school and have led personal development classes for teaching staff on how to better engage at risk students.
This is actually a thing? And it's number 12 on this list? I'd have thought war or natural disasters would beat out having a pretty desk as being overrated. I'm definitely showing my age on this one. 🙄
Natural disasters are not overrated, they cause actual harm. If anything, people are not taking preparations for natural disasters seriously enough.
Load More Replies...At my old school, they made your write down every word they said and then you had to show your books to the teacher to check the info. Those people who always managed to make their notes colorful and pretty (even if they didn't have all the info) became the teacher's pet, and the kid who studied hard, got good grades, but noted EVERYTHING down MESSILY (me) was shamed and compared to the former. EVEN TEACHERS...
Study posts in general are procrastination to avoid actual studying. Its no different than me sharpening 50 colored pencils before reading chapter 19 of "Where the Red Fern Grows" in 6th grade in case I need to take notes or me cleaning out my inbox on Gmail now before I can start working on that spreadsheet I hate.
I agree, especially when you're in history class and literally learning about the Holocaust. I asked the girl next to me if I could borrow her notes last year, and it was way too cutesy for a subject like that.
I've never had a dedicated study space. Even when I was a student. I had a couch or a bed. Never had anything trendy. Does having a fancy desk with loads of storage space make you a better student? I suppose if you work from home, certain things can make you more productive. A college rule notebook, couple good pens, couple good #2 pencils and a decent pencil sharpener, all I need. And anything OTHER than an office chair. Works for me.
I agree, and I have to add that practicality should be first, and looks second. There are too many examples of things that look nice but range from "annoying" to "nightmare to deal with/use".
I think just aesthetics in general. We don't all have to have Instagram worthy homes all of the time. Homes get messy, chaotic, disorganized. Sure, decorate and style to your hearts content so you truly feel at home. Who cares if it's not on trend or doesn't have that IG factor. I'm over it
I think a beautiful bullet with all sorts of coloring and designs vs. a more practical one where you write what you need to write would be in this same category. No need for beautiful when the space is there to do the job.
Depends, a bullet journal is a more effective learning tool than "normal" journaling. Don't get me wrong, the aesthetic look can be over done, but it isn't (usually) for studying so much as it's just for fun or stress relief.

Pronouns and Victimhood. Go ahead and downvote me you pigs!
Well, technically everyone has pronouns, even if you're not part of the LGBTQ+ community. They're just parts of speech. If we didn't, it would just be "Matt went to the store with Matt's friend and Matt got some birdseed for Matt's bird feeder..." etc.
Even my dog has pronouns that son of a b* tch

Ironically, you use pronouns as well - you wrote "downvote ME". "Me" is a pronoun. And then we have "you pigs" as well...
Well people do actually have legitimate complaints? I dunno like being strangled to death by cops? Or shot while sleeping? Or being bullied for not being straight-white-male? Or being denied access to reproductive healthcare due to not being male, etc. There are legitimate complaints, they just don't affect you. Saying legitimate complaints are "victimhood" is not fair.
Imagine being so obsessed over pronouns that you are this stupid. If you don't care about them then why are you constantly complaining?
geez Matt, I'm not a downvoter and maybe I'm missing something but I don't think its just the "pigs" (which you appear to stating is some sort of a clan that is out to silence you for no reason) who will be inclined to down vote some of your comments. You seem to be rather intent on also "poking the bear"
Internet. Everything is "use this website, log on here, buy online" blah blah blah. Just a modern trend that I refuse to have anything to do with. You'll not see me using this new fangled internet.
I think I understand, but the internet is a great help for us all, so I assume your irritation comes from the firms who refers to their website for help instead of offering a phonenummer you can call to get what help you want. Or worse insist that you have to ask a chatrobot, who is really hard to get to understand your problem as I usually find out.
I think OP was joking? Because, you know... He does spend time on BP :-D Edit: I agree with you though on chat bots etc.
Load More Replies...The internet is like so many other things with a bad rap (boomers, teenagers, news reporting, politicians): the bad parts get more widespread attention and the good get less. The good is still there.
Sorry, the internet is here to stay. I don't like having to buy on line. But so many brick and mortar stores have closed. Because they couldn't compete with new buying trends, like online shopping. Personally, I use Google and the internet CONSTANTLY. That's my encyclopedia, my access to knowledge and learning. If I see or hear about something I don't know, I look it up. You just have to know the sites you're using. Anyone can write anything they want, and post it. Lots of armchair doctors out there. I only have my cell phone at this point. So if I'm dealing with a company, they say look it up on our site, I might not be able to read or look at forms. So I make them send the info to me by mail. Usually not a problem. What's so funny is when you call up your provider and say "my internet is out." They say "you can fix that yourself if you go online to www.xxx and..." Then I am required to angrily say "IF I could GET on my internet, I wouldn't need to call you, now, would i?" LOL.
Competitive Exams. Like it is a near 1% chance or less that you might clear them on the first attempt. But what about the ambitious ones? On average, an aspirant wastes 3-4 years of the peak of his/her youth studying for an exam. And unfortunately, most, like most, end up pursuing other career pathways because you gotta pay the bills, right?
Part of the problem is that we have such a high population. With fewer people, there is naturally less competition. This really becomes evident when you live somewhere that a lot of people want to live (eg, Vancouver Island); prices are so high for housing because there are so many people willing and able to pay those prices, which drives out people who cannot afford to pay those higher prices and then further increases homelessness. It's the same with job hunting; because there are so many people, employers have their choice of the top candidates, and unless you are extremely competitive or in a field that is not highly gatekeeping, good luck finding a job that pays enough to support living in these places!
Load More Replies...I had a high school friend who worried and agonized over SAT prep and still scored lowest in our friend group by 20 points when half of us didn't study much at all. we all got around 1400 or more anyways.
Finals are still finals. But I think high school standardized testing is on its way out. Many colleges aren't going to require them any more. A transcript of work and grades are a much better tool to gauge qualifications for college. I supervised SATs and Achievement Tests for 25 years. Those tests only tell what that student can do on any given day. Suppose they're sick or dog tired or nervous on that day? I've seen very intelligent kids skip a question, for instance, and place their answers on the wrong line. They don't realize their mistake until they get to the end. Or time is called. Obviously it's their fault, but what can be done? They've blown it. They have a meltdown because it's the last time that test will be given that year. Let's look at what a student has accomplished, and their activities throughout their entire 4 years of high school. Also, not every kid is college bound. Some can't go, some don't want to. Let's better prepare them for an accomplished LIFE.
Most people forget what they learned after test was taken. I learned more by doing projects than book learning.
Owning your home. Sure it can be a good deal and potential wealth builder, in the right place, at the right time, at the right stage of your life. But it can be the wrong choice many other times. Replacing roofs, HVAC, floors etc. is way more expensive than many people are ready for. If your job falls apart, you may be trapped somewhere with limited options. If you have bad neighbors, you may be stuck with them for years. Especially now, any house you buy is probably at the highest price it will be for a long time, and you are competing with a lot of deep pocket investment companies. Don't be in a hurry and feel like you are missing out, if you wait to buy until you can comfortably afford ALL the costs. That time may be never if you live in a major city. I've both owned and rented, and it can be such a relief when you're renting, the furnace goes out and you can say "Not my problem!"
Owning a home is the best way to build wealth. But just like with anything it needs to be within your means.
It is not, in any way, the best way to build wealth. It's just as much, if not more, of a gamble as the stock market. In both you hope the price you buy in at is the low price and that your 'getting out' price is higher. Look what happened in the housing bubble with homes in some areas losing 50% of their value. Look at home prices right now. Prices are already to the point that a significant portion of people can't truly afford to buy. Even if the value doesn't decrease, how is their value going to increase if there's not a relative increase in wages which would allow people to buy? At least with the stock market people can buy portions at a time, at a rate they can afford at a given time. Home buying is an all or nothing proposition.
Load More Replies...I could never take care of the yard, nor do I know anyone who would/could. I could not afford a landscaping company. Ipso, I rent, and live in apartments. Best plan for me.
I totally agree. Home ownership isn't for everyone. I'm a single person and I have no interest in yardwork or dealing with the types of bills a home will incur. I think if you have enough money to pay for your home outright, in cash, then sure, why pay rent/mortgage if you don't have to? But property taxes and any upkeep on the home can be ridiculously expensive, and often times fixing one thing can be more than you would pay in rent in an entire year. I'd love a really nice condo. Somewhere where the people are screened. I'm so tired of living around loud, crazy, uncourteous people. But condos used to be less expensive than home ownership -that isn't the case anymore. Now a mortgage on a condo is just as bad as a house in a lot of cases, and you can still get stuck living next to a loud obnoxious neighbor. The risk isn't worth it.
Idk how it works in other countries but for those in the US; Don't buy a house based on what they'll loan you. Buy a house based on what you want you monthly payment to be.They would have you locked into a home loan w/ a monthly mortgage payment of about 3/4 of your monthly income. Leaving you desperately broke every month for anything fun or extra.
Usually it works this way by default. A bank will decide how much to loan you based on your repayment ability. The problem is people are given options of 15 or 30 year mortgages and they're making their decision based on what they can afford now, but you don’t know what will happen in 10 years. And they often choose a 30 year at a much higher interest because it’s a smaller monthly payment. I personally think you should try to pay off all of your debts first, live like a monk for 5 or 6 years, don't even look at a vacation or extra expense. Suffer short term so you can relax long term. Then when the debts are totally free, put all of that money toward saving for the home you want to buy and just pay for it outright or at least put down like 75%. You'd be surprised how much you can save when you don't have bills and you're living as frugally as possible. Some people just can’t discipline themselves to do that, or it’s impossible because you don't make enough to make any kind of dent.

He's got good points. Property is equity. You just have to look at what you can afford. Just because the number cruncher tells you, based on your income, you can afford a $400,000 home. That doesn't take into consideration all $$ you'll need to own that home. Taxes, utilities, upkeep. So what about food, clothing, vehicles and other essentials? Do all the research. Investigate. AND, no matter how much you want that house, no matter what the competitive bidding war is, don't forgo the qualified bldg inspection. You'll really regret it, if you do. Some people are better off in a condo, paying a HOA to take care of extras. You'll still build some equity, but maybe not as much as a stand alone home. Upkeep is really important. A run down house can lose value.
They’re all money vacuums - new build, fixer upper, in between - money just gets sucked up - sometimes you get it back through price appreciation, often not
Yeah except one of my super powers is finding the crappiest landlords who do a c**p job of repairs, wouldn’t let me paint the house my own colors (even after I offered to have it put in the contract that I would have the house painted back to neutral colors when my lease was up), and were always nickel and diming us. Sure, owning your house can be a pain in the butt, but I’ll take it over living under someone else’s rules any day.
“Smartphones” and E-scooters.
Honestly I am kind of being a hypocrite because I would like to have a high quality smartphone, but I still hate every type of electric personal transport. Like: if you say you go on a bike ride everyday but it's electric, that doesn't even count. That's cheating.
Not every electric transport should be for exercises purposes, many people can't handle a bike ride, like me, my kneecaps are s**t I gave away my bike because of that.

Is anyone else /this close/ to getting a landline again? I want to be able to turn my phone /off/ and only have people call the landline in emergencies. No game notifications, no nudges, no nothing
I can't afford a "really smart" phone. Lol. I have an android. As much as I'd love an Iphone for doing more, it's not in the cards. I think that any E -"anything" isn't worth it. Ok, so may be a bike, if you have a disability that some assistance will help. But anything other than a bicycle, that can't keep up with traffic speeds, and can only be ridden in certain areas, and can't be used on a sidewalk, is useless. My opinion only. And I don't want to be stranded somewhere when the battery runs down.
Oh, myyyyyy - someone from my Gen posting here and these things were the rage in 2005. Now, nearly 20 years later, these are the norm. I have 2 30yr old Razor scooters in excellent condition to give to any interested persons, but I'm in France so you'll have to pay s&h. Inquire by dm.
Not going to lie. If I was a kid, and electric bike would have been awesome.
Life
Life is hard, no doubt about it. But consider what you have, rather than what you don't have. Bad things happen to good people. I've had some really hard times the past 2 years. Mom died. Partner died, left with not enough money to pay rent and bills. That leads to severe depression. But I'm alive. I WILL survive this. Being alive is far better than the alternative. IT ALWAYS IS. Don't let one minute of despair get the best of you. Because YOU ARE the best. We've all been disappointed or disillusioned at times. Believe me, there are some things that will always be out of your control. Fix what you can, what is directly your responsibility. If it's too much to handle, talk to someone. A therapist, a minister or priest, a trusted friend. Take up a hobby you will enjoy. You won't know until you try. If that life gets to be too hard, reach out to someone. You won't regret it. It will get better.
Iron Maiden. To me, all their songs sound the same and there are far better rock and metals bands out there. I would also add that you only need one AC/DC album and that is Back in Black.
Do mean all the rappers 'sampling' old rock songs for their groove?
Load More Replies...I disagree. Have you even looked at Steve Harris? He is a god among heavy metal bassists.
Most bands have a specific "sound" that they produce. After a few albums you "Get" their style/sound. The same could be said of Bon Jovi, Def Leppard, and other ancient rock bands. I suggest you try newer bands? Go onto youtube and search for The Hu, for example (Mongolians). Or Alien Weaponry (Songs are in Maori). Definitely different. Enjoy. PS. Here's a great ripoff of ACDC. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k3zCnTgdLG0
Ancient... oh my I must be ancient too, now I feel so old. Only granny at the old folks home banging my head! Love AC/DC and Black Sabbath... Now all aboard the Crazy Train once we let loose the dogs of war.
Load More Replies...As a years long metal head what I found out abt Iron Maiden is that when the song is good then it's amazing but every other song is meh. You can actually use some albums as background noise.
Wow. I used to listen to iron maiden as teenager (30 years ago) I didn't know they were still around let alone relevant lol. I haven't heard anything about them in ages 😅
Many crappy bands were commercially successful. When I hear the mention of Iron Maiden, Bon Jovi, Foreigner to name just three, I at least wince if not cringe in horror.
I would add The Who to this. They keep touring without any new music
Really? The Who is singing about "my generation" which made way for your generation to keep making music. If you dis The Who, you don't know what music is.

Those are to take out stress so it doesn't erupt somewhere else. Now, WHERE IS MY FIDGET?!?!?
Fidgets are the great help for neurodivergent people such as myself that need to fidget to stay focused. If i dont use one of my fidgets it might take me hours to complete a 30 minute task, or i might seem even more restless by constantly bouncing my leg or tapping my fingers or moving around. They can also help with keeping my train of thought clearer or more on track. Fidgets help focus energy into one thing that is otherwise expelled at any possible opportunity and helps the user keep up with their own mind often
I actually need them when I'm bored or I draw on my arms and pick at my nails.
Makes sense. Those can be forms of stimming for people who are neurodivergent. The ND brain requires more input because, often, it doesn't filter out information like a neurotypical brain does. Picking, doodling, or fidgeting are all ways of accomplishing this

Never download something that there's a mobile site for. Bare minimum it's a huge waste of hardrive space. Worse it's WAY more info and tracking than they would've gotten otherwise.

nah, it's just the same as stock trading but much more volatile. My exwife made about $10 000 on it, myself quite a bit less, but we both still hold it.

I'm honestly surprised I didn't see anyone mention a college degree. It seems they don't have the use they used to have.
From my experience it makes it easier to get customer service jobs quickly, but that's about it.

Lol ford circled the problem with their logo; Ford = found on road dead; or fix or replace daily, Dodge = damned old dusty garbage extractor, there's one for Chevrolet too but I don't recall what it was.
