This guy randomly showed up on our doorstep shortly after a thunderstorm last August. He was a tiny little guy and looked so sad. I had to bring him inside. He's a lot bigger now, has a massive catitude, and he will never have to live outdoors again.

Mia, was a little lady. We belonged to her. Her and I could talk for hours. She actually smiled when we came through the door, an actual smile. She must of had some kind of u joint in the middle of her body, when she wagged her tail (she was always happy) it would slap her in the face. I use to tell my husband that, that there was somebody in there.

I took care of a lady with dementia who had lost all connection with reality. Her cats did not forget her though. I'd never seen such devoted pets! They spent so much time cuddling with her - vying for the space closest to her. Every once in a while it seemed she remembered who they were and stroke them. It warned my heart to see such devotion and I know her life was made so much fuller with this contact.

My daughter was finally allowed to adopt a cat. At the humane society, there were several & even 2 litters of kittens! She said she picked Luna (who was 1 year old at the time) because Luna stuck her arm out of the cage at her. I'm so glad that they chose each other. Our vet later said something that has stuck with me, "It warms my heart to see black cats because they have the hardest time getting adopted".

Millie May was found running the streets in Arkansas. We are her 4th, and last family - she was two when we got her. Clara was rescued with her Mom and siblings from a ditch in Georgia. She was 11 weeks old when we got her. She crossed the rainbow bridge March 8, 2022 - she had just turned 10 in January. 😭

Absolutely! They were always so sweet together. After Clara's health started failing and she couldn't play anymore, Millie would constantly be checking on her. Millie would even "tell" us when Clara had to go outside. They just had that special connection. ❤️

Thank you! She definitely marched to the beat of her on drum. I've spent alot of money on a lot of different things. I spent $600.00 getting her rotten teeth pulled ( Missy had been passed around, long story) I had her for about her last 6 years. Anyway by far the best money I have ever spent on anything. She turned back into a puppy. Imagine a 20 year old dog acting like a puppy. Shaking toys and the like. It was an absolute joy to see. She was soooo entertaining. I loved her!!

Dandy was a Borzoi...he was rescued from a hoarder,just skin and bones and with a piece of wood in-bedded in his leg.operated on twice...he was so scared of men that I could only walk him when it was dark.He was with me for 8 years.The absolutely sweetest dog who just loved cuddles.

Sadly that is not always true...some,Like Bella (black) after 3 years with me still gets panicky if some-body walks or runs behind us in the street.She will stand behind me and we let them pass us.Men are the biggest source of fear....I found out she had been beaten close to death when she was rescued by Scooby Medina del Campo.She was on the list for most urgent adoption...sat in a corner at the kennel hunched over and looking at the wall...she had given up on life. The 1st month here she hid under a bush in my garden and I would sit and talk to her from a distance waiting for her to make the first move. Now she is my Velcro-dog and sleeps glued to me and comes up to me and puts her head in my lap asking for cuddles..and has devellopped a sense of mischief....I love her to bits !!

Wow! I have a veritable feral cat community. I have been trapping and getting them neuter as fast as I can. With each new litter I make every effort to get them to trust me. Unfortunately it seems the feral mom's influence is too great. By the time they are able to eat real food they have been indoctrinated to fear me. I'm so glad you were able to give this one a good life. (Mine do like hanging around with me , even winding between my legs when I go walking, but any show of attention on my part seems to put such fear in them!

I have had rescues for the past 45+ years and primarily go for the elderly,ugly and deeply traumatized dogs. I know some wont last long in my care,but better a short stay in a loving home than euthanazia or being the forgotten dog because of age,looks or behavioral problems...I had a little Cairn for 14 years with epilepsy I could not touch him,but accepted his deep traumas from previous owner.He slept glued to me,followered my every step...any petting of him would be the «accidential» touch,that was accepted by him...I adored him...

Our now elderly rescue Dalmatian, at the vet for her nail clipping! Can you tell how much she enjoys it? She has memorized all the nail techs and watches the door carefully for them. She doesn’t care a bit about the other animals going in and out - just the techs she knows cut her nails. Since she has been coming to the same vet for 10 years now, she has them down pat. Good thing it’s a quick process. I’m going to miss her so much.

Wolfie was previously Reggie but didn't respond to it and he had been through abusive owners and then surrendered at a vet clinic. He took 3 months of retraining and a lot of patience (was scared of my dad and flyswatters but knew what Netflix was.) My first "big" dog and he's a sweetheart eventhough he scares coyotes and foxes away from my goats. (He also helps me when my legs are wobbly and with my anxiety. I trained him for it as I don't want him being bored.)

Whiskey chose us about 2yrs ago. A friend of ours has a scrap metal yard near Naples ( Italy) . One day we called in for a coffee, there was a stray mother cat with her kittens. They all ran away from us except for this little bossy thing that kept meowing at us. Of course we brought him home. Took him to the vets, they said that he wouldn’t last the night, to leave him there and that they would deal with his remains. I took him home and cared for him. The vets call him the miracle cat. I think that it was just pure and simple love ❤️ is all he needed

Watson's first owner brought him to the shelter when he was 8 months old. Then he got adopted for one week. The second owners couldn't keep him because they developed an allergy. After that, I took him home. He likes following me around the house or hide in a corner to scare me with a jump. When our dog became real sick Watson would run down the stairs with me to comfort the dog, every time he started coughing. Watson seemed to be devastated for some time, after the dog passed away. Watson is an energetic sweetheart. He makes me laugh. Every day. He saves my soul. Every single day. Thank you, my precious.

I can't resist any animal that's being mistreated or otherwise not having any prospects of having a good forever home. They made my life better and bringing up my daughter in such a lifestyle must have made an impact on her. She has a cat from a shelter that was already grown and adopted and returned so many times due to antisocial behavior. Somehow that cat and my daughter have a wonderful bond, she also has a husky that she took in b cause her moving family didn't want to turn her into a shelter but didn't know what else to do. All three live a wonderful life now!

He and his mommy were abandoned in a large planter box in front of an apartment building in cold, raining, winter weather. After being alerted to their situation, I caught them both by flashlight at night and brought them home, bathed and dried them, and checked them over. Both seemed healthy and uninjured, but mom was extremely malnourished and terrified. Baby (pictured) was more trusting from the start. After several weeks, mom started putting on weight and gaining confidence, and baby grew and they were separated. Baby started rooming with my single adult male piggy, and mom stayed on her own, but close by. I had baby and mom in my family for about 5 happy years until they passed away of natural causes several years ago. They were wonderful little souls and I still miss them. Mom and baby looked almost identical.

When I got Lexie 11 years ago as a rescue, I had heard that she had come from an abusive home. At first I thought she'd been burned as her ears were black with no hair, turned out it was just being malnourished. As soon as I started feeding her quality food, her hair grew back on her ears and her coat softened and got fluffier. It was after her vet visit that I learned that she had been kicked or hit hard enough to knock out 5 of her teeth. That also explained her anxiety of being touched, her ears, her paws, even fearful of being picked up. Now, she's quite a spoiled little princess, who cannot get enough love. She deserves all the love in the world.

Adopted from the county animal shelter at 10 yrs old. Been with us and our beagle for 2 yrs now. I highly recommend adopting an older dog - loving and calm.
