Also consider that the "Drop" of the title is not a water droplet (it would be deformed/elongated on top end, from resistance); it's the dropping of a glass ball (which is also appearing in his hand, in #9 at the Louvre). So time the release of the ball with the shutter as Magpie said; and catch it on a cushion OR have many balls at hand.

have a water-dropper on a stand, positioned above the camera. therefore, the water will drop along the same vertical plane. Focus on the right spot manually, by placing a piece of card immediately under the water dropper, on the same vertical plane as where the water will drop. Lock that focal point in (ie don't use auto-focus on the camera). Have the water dropper dripping at a constant rate. Everything else is just timing. :) (and yes, it can be done - I did something very similar when I was in 15, learning photography in highschool - except mine wasn't indoors; it was outside)
