This Hairstylist Shows How A Good Haircut Transforms People And These 30 Pics Prove It
Jayne Matthews is a talented hairdresser with a knack for the retro styles of the 1960s and 1970s. Her transformative skills take clients on a journey from contemporary looks to vintage-inspired hippie vibes. A signature touch in Jayne's creations is the inclusion of bangs; they are a consistent feature in all her hairstyles.
For instance, one of her recent masterpieces showcases a woman with sleek, long black hair, accented by sharp and defined bangs. This look captures a timeless elegance, reminiscent of classic '60s fashion. In stark contrast, yet equally captivating, is another client with pink hair and a playful and edgy cut with wispy bangs, radiating '70s free spirit. These image examples not only spotlight Jayne's skillset but also her commitment to reviving the iconic aesthetics of past decades, with bangs taking center stage in every transformation.

Am I the only one that prefers most of the before pictures here?
You are not. Everyone in these pictures is more attractive before stupid chance.
Load More Replies...She definitely needed a trim, but it looks like the stylist chopped all her hair off and left her with some wisps 🤨
We have a news girl who's hair hangs in two long clumps--hanging down past her boobs! Arrghh! I'd like to send her these pics!
Uh, she has bangs in the before and after. Looks great in both.
Spoiler alert: I’m scrolling back up from number something down there, and to save you time if you’re on the fence about this thread: they get bangs.
Looked better to start with, in my opinion. That said, she could have a bucket on her head, and she'd still be absolutely gorgeous.
I was hoping someone else had noticed this too. I really thought the mullet would stay gone.
Load More Replies...Beautiful woman but the picture on the left looks like there is a dead mouse in the top of her head.
The before looks better to me. And how is this post about transforming someone's look with a haircut when they're already attractive.
AFTER. She's gorgeous before but AFTER gives dimension.
Load More Replies...I don't know why so many people don't like the second one. I LOVE the second one!
Much better with a fringe - her forehead takes over her face otherwise and she's quite lovely
The bangs now let us look at her eyes and not at the polished-bowling-ball forehead she had before. Good move!
Nice. Not everyone can rock bangs like that. Not everyone has enough hair to do it, either …
Much much better. People with pronounced foreheads look so much proportionate with a fringe.
If you have enough hair for it, yes. Alas, I have a high forehead, but also thin hair - on me, a fringe makes me look like I’m balding.
Load More Replies...hey, you dont need to be rude. this is about seeing how people look different with different haircuts. you dont need to insult their looks on something they cant change
Load More Replies...Her hair is not going to look like the after pic once she tries to do it herself.
She looks much younger in the 1st pic. Not to say she looks old in the 2nd pic. She's grown up adult level versus college level.
Is this post about giving people bangs (or a fringe, as others call it)?
The longer hair ages many women but they hold onto it for ages. I guess if they like & feel pretty, that's all that matters.
I’d also guess that the ‘before’ is a lot more manageable, since short hairstyles tend to need washing daily and styling, or else they stick up in all sorts of weird and not so wonderful ways when you first get up. It’s the main reason why I’ve given up on having short hair, it just needed too much maintenance.
Load More Replies...Every time I see this image, I think of Nami from one piece the live action.
Load More Replies...Wow! Huge difference for the better, even though she's gorgeous in both pix.
I'm happy someone else said it. A lot of these just looked like hacked off hair.
Load More Replies...It's the same with most of these. I like both the before and after, pictures. Meaning, I don't care what haircut you have. Beauty comes from your personality and the expensive camera lens.
The second picture has a sort of power of presence to it. I’m not sure it’s the hair. Maybe her reaction to her hair? Head titled, lips a little more pursed. A self-assuredness that comes off.
Adorable! This hairstyle is so flattering on almost everyone.
Maybe I'm an old cynic but it just looks like she's brushed her hair differently.
It is like it is out of a fairytale! I wish to dye my hair, but I heard it damages it, or that's what my Asian mom says.
Load More Replies...But why is so much volume added at the top at the expense of the layered ends which look straggly because this stylist really favours retro ‘high fashion’ looks that everyone in Easten European hair conventions used to do…20 years ago?
It looks like a bad haircut my mom gave me in the 80's. I'm glad my hair grows fast.
Load More Replies...I understand bangs to be the US equivalent of a fringe. In which case, huh? (NB - at the time of writing the title of this was 'women who got bangs')
This aged her like 8 years. Not trying to be mean but the before was better. It worked for her face shape & the darker color brought out her eyes. They should have done a copper/red/orange color. That would have looked dope.
She thought she looked cool before? She looks a million times cooler with the gray.
This belongs in "women who changed hair colors and hairstyles" she has bangs in both!
1. She already had bangs. 2. I think this stylist brings way too much hair from the back and combs it to the front, as if they were all bald. Just makes me think there's not enough hair left in the back, for every day wearing.
Guys I’m just covering up a mean comment. I think all of these hairstyles look awesome and the last thing we need is more negative energy in BP.
Ok but pic #2 has better studio lighting, full makeup and lipstick, and crystal-clear resolution.
Looking at the pics, I can say the before was way, way easier to care for and maintain!
I thought she got some stains or spilled something on her top. Those are tears. Wha???
In the second pic, all the hair on top really belongs in back. It's a little trick.
BEFORE. Maybe AFTER showcases her eyes more - but she's got so much going for her.
Load More Replies...I really don’t like this haircut. She’s beautiful in both, but I just feel like the stylist did her dirty.
They look fake to me for some reason. Like she had freckles tattooed on or makeup-d on.
Load More Replies...Oh man gawd she's got puppy dog eyes which I've only seen in cartoons!!!!!
Why do the bangs start at the back of her head though? Cute style but like... huh?
Nah bro... they did her dirty. She actually paid to have them give her a haircut that a child would give themselves when they find your scissors for the first time?
Can't believe it's even the same person. AFTER is so much better.
Load More Replies...Cute, but the after picture looks like she's hiding a pointy head...secret unicorn?!
Why do you have to be negative about every picture? If you have nothing nice to say, keep your comments to yourself.
Load More Replies...Both styles are really cute on her. I wish my new wavy/curls looked as good. Menopause is... Interesting
Interesting is not the word I would use! I’m hating it personally!!
Load More Replies...I've had these hair cuts before. They're a b***h to style every morning. Not for people who like to just brush and go. You need sculpting cream, round brushes, hairspray, possibly a light gel, a hair dryer with a diffuser.
I have this cut and it's much easier. With the layes and the weight thinned out I can just air dry my natural waves.
Load More Replies...She looks so much better with shorter hair and bangs, younger, edgier, a bit mischievous. I love it!
On this, I like the first one better, she has a softer, more approachable look. The new is harsh and she looks intimidating.
I wonder what the original on all these curly haired women would have looked like with good products FOR curly hair? This lady would have been stunning.
Yes. It's the curse of naturally curly hair. It attracts families of squirrels.
Load More Replies...didn't anyone ever tell you that old saying about not having something nice to say?
Load More Replies...I'm not sure I like either. I'd have kept more length for the AFTER cut. It is pretty - but is it the MOST flattering to her?
Doesn’t matter whether it’s “most” flattering, as that wasn’t the goal. All that matters is that SHE feels good and likes it.
Load More Replies...She's so pretty. But short styles like this don't always work for ppl with round faces. It usually makes them look childish & not in a "you're a young woman" way.. it also tends to make ppl with round faces look chubby. Even when they're not. That's just my opinion & what I've seen personally.
the second one gives 'Amelie' vibes like the french movie. also I love her jacket sooo much!!!!
Kinda Jenna Coleman maybe... looks so familiar, but can't place it. A bit of Aubrey Plaza?
Load More Replies...Some of the pictures are misleading. Is obvious that you're adding top hair pieces as well as using wigs. The models are beautiful and the styles are great. But if you have thin hair even with a nice haircut, you will still have thin hair.
In second pic I love how the end of the hair has some sort of wave
She didn’t need a whole haircut, she needed hair care lessons and the right products.
Yeah, she did. She needed all that horrendous damage (from bleaching and re-bleaching, looks like) cut off. I’ll bet she was super-happy sticking her hands into healthy hair for a change!
Load More Replies...So yeah, I noticed after numbers 8 and 9 everyone was getting bangs, and the truth it, they mostly looked better. Also many short hair cuts as well. Some could have stayed long but with layering to give lift and body to the cut bs long, straggly looks. Most all made the women, and one girl look better, accentuated the face, vs down played the beauty with no style per se. I have very long hair, mid back and I get it layered for wash n dry and go, or styling, curling very lions mane-ish, yes bangs. I always blow away clients, friends and strangers out in the world. A good cut can make or break one’s looks. We like looking at actresses and actors in their capture of their beautiful sides. We don’t want uncouffed (sp?) looks unless it fits the part.
the demon of possession makes the eyes ready for trans dimensional time travel
Load More Replies...Is it me or does it just look like a gust of wind caught her be surprise?
On the left too. Must be resting sad face, I've got it myself.
Load More Replies...I'm not even sure the haircut on the right is any different, just slightly styled different.
Good on you, girl! Make a REAL change and feel the difference in yourself!
If the shorter cut was more of a neatly styled pixie cut, it would look perfect. But this stylist seems to prefer the "I closed my eyes and hoped for the best" method.
I wish the after pic was face-on. Her eyes and cheekbones are rather hidden in the before and I suspdct.the after cut makes them pop.
After is almost mullet-y. With her eyes and cute chin, why not chop off all that dry blonde bit and go for a pixie cut or something?
lmao i think ur jealous of all the gorgeous women on this page, go get a hobby or something jeez.
Load More Replies...I was thinking the same thing, and they are really high maintenance, the first thing any stylist should be asking is how much time and money are u willing to put in to ur hair everyday???
Load More Replies...The stylist gave it a bit of shape with bangs. Honestly not that bad, it brings out her curls.
Why does EVERY person seem to have wavy longer hair and they all end up with forward pushed wispy bang s**t?
Looks like a 1960s little girls pixie cut. We all hated them, but they were a popular way for moms not to deal with their kids hair back then.
Doesn't look cut, just blow dried. The moment she washes it'll go back to the way it was.
Not a fan of the endless mullets this stylist does - no creativity.
Why?? She's so beautiful. At least now I know this cut won't work with my type of hair.
Sorry, off subject, but when I see huge nose rings like hers, all I can think about is constantly cleaning the boogers and snot off of it. My allergies have been kicking my butt lately
Again with the baby bangs... this made her look like she has a huge forehead when she actually has a very small one. I love the color though.
Imagine being that beautiful but having that nose ring and that cow sh/it mullet
seems like the creative genius behind the haircuts is allergic to foreheads as he/she/it does everything possible to hide them behind a few strands of hair...
Load More Replies...I agree. It is such a shame to just cut off all that long healthy hair.
Load More Replies...Before was wayy better! The second pic looks like a confusing mullet-thing
-What would you want with your beautiful rapunzel hair? -a greasy mullet would be perfect! - say no more!
I wouldn’t have chosen this “After” style with this beautiful head of hair. The Hairstylist went “scissor happy”!
Both are a no. She has beautiful thick hair, gorgeous color. It would be stunning just below the shoulders with soft layers to give it more body.
In this thread i laughed so much from those bad haurcuts. Imagine waking up and seing that on your head
I like the middle picture the most. They took off too much in the one on the right imo
I think its the same cut, its asymmetrical so they took a pic of both sides.
Load More Replies...Damn. They did her dirty with that baby bang. This stylist didn't take into account alot of these women's natural features when she gave them their cuts. You have to work with the face shape n their features to adapt the style to fit them n accentuate their natural beauty. If you have a longer forehead.. don't get baby bangs.. it makes your forehead look soooo much bigger, especially with a pixie cut. It also elongates the face n if you have a thinner face, it can make you look gaunt or older than you are.
Terrible - it looks like she cut it herself, did a bad job and is trying to grow it out. The color is bad too - it clashes with her skin tone and makes her look sickly.
*reaches index finger forward, flicks that bit of hair above her right eye to the middle*. That'll be $100 please.
Looks like they may have taken an inch of her bangs too...so $400 please
Load More Replies...She must get her hair cut often by the this stylist
Load More Replies...It is not just you. And it explains why I find so many of these to be cringy and awful.
Load More Replies...To me these look like there were only four or five new haircut options but I guess I’m not a hairdresser so maybe I just don’t have a good eye for differences. The new cuts are lovely though, if repetitive
Now show us the back of her head. All of that bad mullet is brushed forward
I luv the short kicky bobs she does. Cut off the long stragglers & she'd have one.
100% true. Imho some of them looked way better before. And yeah, it's just really messy, it's the same style applied to dozends of women, disregarding their individual hairtypes and looks. Even I could do the same
Load More Replies...Bangs for you! Bangs for You! Everyone gets bangs! and then some poof and bad combing. This was terrible.
Let's get those experts to work on real people. Choose random 60+, plus size, women. Those of us who don't have the time, patience, or skills to do anything with their hair other than wash it, brush it, and go. No products, no blow dryers or any other electric styling aids.
Any photographers here who can answer this? I think these are nice of course but it seems like they took a wide lens pic for the first one, mostly without makeup and straight at the camera. Then the "after" has make up and then a tighter lens with them posing?
Ikr, the before also looks like they purposely made the hair messy to make the after look better
Load More Replies...I feel like this was one big snow job. Both the women who were told they'd have new and exciting cuts, and the readers of the article. Aside from the fancy makeup in the after pics, many of the after pics also made it seem like the new styles were fuller. But if you look at the photos more closely, you see that all that fullness is achieved by bringing hair from the back and arranging it on top of their heads and around their faces. That's great for a photo shoot I guess. Not for real life. All that fullness will disappear when they open the door and a breeze blows, and they are walking to the bus, etc.
Ist's basically the same hairstyle in various lenghts. A messy mullet, as someone else mentioned. It's modern, edgy and interesting. But I wouldn't call it especially beautiful. However, you do you.
