Nostalgia is a powerful and, quite frankly, fun thing. Many of us likely have a favorite TV show we watched the first thing in the morning while preparing for school, the same one that influenced our personalities. Or perhaps you can recall the lighter things, the ones that make you laugh and grant some respite from the hectic pace of the world. And then there are the light mistakes, like the popular candy that left a sour taste in your mouth. Basically, nostalgia comes in many forms, we each have fond memories related to childhood (or not-so-distant youth!), and from time to time, it's nice to recall the carefree days of our lives.

I used to make these at summer camp while gossiping with the older girls and counselorsurs

Twitter users jumped right on the ongoing trend of "You had to be there", posting pictures that encapsulate certain times in their lives. Some of the posts can involve things from a few years ago, while others go back decades—and each of them is accompanied by the feeling of nostalgia that's attached to the pictures.

As a kid I always gauged how great my day was by how many splinters I got climbing up the wooden jungle gyms or how burnt my legs and shoulders would get sliding on those huge metal slides. My favourite park was also taken down as a kid for "safety reason." Sigh, skinning your knees and falling off the teeter-toter were sign of passage as a kid.

The amount of kids on these things when they were first built was stunning! The tire swings were the best.

We have a park like this. It's got EVERYTHING. I'm just waiting to foster or adopt a kid so I can go there again without being creepy hahaha

I had a place like this near me. Grew up calling it Pingo Pongo...not at all relevant to the actual name

Not really. I, a 11 year old, have one near me. It hurt. But the worst thing i saw happen on there, was a family friend’s 3 year old jump from a level down and bite down DEEP into his lip and have to get stitches. Poor kid. I was about 8.

I adored the old wooden playgrounds as a kid. I think I was completely oblivious to the risk of splinters and all the hornets nests underneath some of the wooden structures. Who could forget sliding down those giant metal slides and getting splinters in your bum and feeling like the back of your legs were getting burned off.

There was one of these a block from the house me and my family rented in Michigan a couple years ago! Was really fun with the 7 year old.

We had one of these at the park near my house. It was a lot of fun as a castle on weekends.

Possibly Cheshire, CT. I spent a lot of time at one just like it with my son. Sadly, the wood rotted so the playground was replaced with a metal one.

Plenty of people are jumping in on this trend, from regular folk to official and certified accounts, each post presenting a blast from the past that was somehow special for them, be it TV series that aired a decade ago or a newer movie that's only a few years old. Time is a flexible thing, and the trend reflects different periods that people grew up in.

And there's an unspoken rule to these posts—you shouldn't add a description to the pictures. Basically, if you know, you know. If you don't, don't worry about it. The variety of the posts—containing old movies, physical items, or discontinued media—apply to people of different ages. So, there's a bit of everything for everyone.

Man, this reminds me of my first car (an Acclaim). Like driving a pillow with better safety ratings.

funny story- when i moved as a kid, my dad accidentally left altoids out the day they took pictures for anyone looking to buy it. so, when we met the new residents, the dad said "oh, by the way, thanks for the free altoids!"

I had no idea this chimera of a fandom existed... Weirdly cute tbh, they would actually work pretty well in hogwarts!
