More often than not we read about toxic workplaces where bosses micromanage, pressure and manipulate their employees. Where they don’t give them well deserved paid time off, or where they refuse a salary raise.

But the truth is, there are still many devoted and passionate bosses out there who are true leaders and stand for the people. And this post is a celebration of exactly that.

Below is a collection of pictures that show the moment people realized their boss is so much more than their formal superior. Scroll down, upvote your favorites and be sure to share your best boss stories in the comment below!

I'm a general manager, and our new President wiped out all raises I gave to our fantastic employees. Last year, during these challenging Covid and financial times, my division came in under budget, so I gave EVERYONE at least 7 to 10% increases; they deserved it. Then came my review; it was the lowest I have ever had; I wonder why? They don't know it, but I am so out of there.

Ok get this, if you value your employees, right? Then you wont have to complain when they move on to other jobs because they are better off elsewhere. You know what else is crazy? If your employees aren't stressing about feeding themselves or are overworked, their productivity actually goes up. This is why I always laugh when older people start talking about getting an entry position and working your way up blah, blah. That only works if your employers see you as a valued asset and not basically an antagonistic force they need to exploit. And that just isnt how most of the world works right now. Yeah theyre happy to pile on more responsibility on you, but they're gonna do everything they can to resist paying you a cent more and will gaslight you by telling you youre actually worthless so you accept that. Ironically, employers actually need employees more than the other way around pretty much even at the lowest levels of work.

I've been at my job for 24 years, and had one of those managers for about 4 of those years. So sad when he left. His replacement has been here for months, and I don't know her name, she's locked in her office and I wouldn't recognize her if she walked by me. Never even came in and introduced herself.

I had a similar scenario, except the company would not budge. Eventually I told my employee that she was grossly underpaid (of course it was the woman getting screwed). I wrote her a stellar letter of recommendation, and told her not to settle for less than a 30% raise. The company regretted losing her, as did I, she was one of my best. But it was for the best. She got a raise, company learned a lesson.

This sort of happened to me recently. I was asked in the interview what I thought my expected salary would be. I said "whatever the award rate is" because that's what I had been paid in previous jobs. When they gave me the job offer they said "I know what you said you would accept as pay, but we have decided your qualifications and experience are such that we will be paying you above that amount." I was amazed that they would bother to do that without me asking!

I advocate for my team. I just transferred locations and immediately made one full time. He's worked there five years and should have been made full time about 4.5 years ago. My next goal is yo evaluate everyone's pay rate and see who deserves an increase. It's ridiculous those who came before me didn't do this. Sad.

And the opposite: Company did an evaluation of how females were paid vs how men were paid. Many women were then scheduled for bigger and more frequent raises to get them on a par with men doing the same job. Higher level manager reminded line manager about a specific raise. His response: "Not until I take care of all my guys first."

My Sister's Boss Passed Away Several Months Ago, But Before She Did, She Arranged To Have This Sent To Her Staff

“A good boss today looks different than 50 years ago,” Christine Mitterbauer, a licensed and ICF-approved career coach and serial entrepreneur based in the UK, told Bored Panda. “Today, some of the skills that are most highly valued in bosses are communication skills, coaching and mentoring skills and relationship-building skills,” she explained.

The Kind Of Boss Everyone Wants

The Kind Of Boss Everyone Wants

alexijielu Report

According to Mitterbauer, a great boss puts the team and the goals of the company before themselves. “Whereas earlier, a good boss would tell their employees what to do, today, they should empower their employees to do the job themselves. A good boss also realizes she/he is often not the smartest person in the room, and knows how to bring out the very best in her/his employees.”

The career coach explained that some people naturally have the skills mentioned above, and they will therefore be naturally good leaders without much specific leadership training. “But most people would benefit from training, ideally including on-the-job training,” she added.

“Communication, coaching and relationship-building skills are all skills that can be taught if you have the right mindset and take the lessons and insights onboard. Ideally, a great leader also has empathy and the ability to put their minds into that of others, and these are skills that are harder to teach,” Mitterbauer told us.

Employees want to feel listened to and respected, so a good boss will honor this and show, over time, that they value the input and work from the employee, Mitterbauer said. She argues that “it feels genuine, this process takes time, as there have to be several instances of feeling listened to and respected.”

“Giving regular constructive feedback to the employee is important, as is spending time training and simply listening to the employee on a regular basis,” the career coach concluded.

My Boyfriend Is Going Through Chemo For 6 Months And Has Surgery Coming Up. This Morning This Was Left On My Desk By My Boss

My boss loves stones of all kinds and we have talked about our love of labradorite. She had mentioned red labradorite which I had never heard of. The ring is red labradorite and the card says, "I think about you at times and what you are going through and I know how tough life can be. You are always positive and there for the clients, your peers, and even me. Here is something I wanted to give you. As I said, jewelry is my thing and this is a red labradorite.
