Her Mother Looks So Happy
What a brave mother, who took those risks to give her daughter a better life.
You are living proof that our country is still growing in diversity and that we are only strengthened by it. Congratulations on on your graduation.
And you're trying to reply to a twitter post from 2019 as it quite clearly shows.

Contrary to popular belief, you don't have to belong to a long line of jesters to make humor work for you and your children. Parents can sometimes use joking as a distraction or departure from the usual routine – a break from the serious side of things.
With humor, moms and dad can calm down emotional situations, encourage proper behavior and strengthen the parent-child bond. Yet, many of us do not fully appreciate its potential.
Talya Stone, a former public relations specialist turned blogger and the woman behind online journals Motherhood: The Real Deal and 40 Now What, told Bored Panda that allowing yourself to switch off and not make a big deal out of everything can be a real gamechanger.
"Life is so stressful, as can parenting be and humor is a powerful way of diffusing every situation in particular when your kids are driving you nuts and acting out."
"If I Birthed 6 Kids, I'm Gonna Get 6 Kids Out". Super-Mom Emma Schols Saved All Of Her 6 Kids From Their Burning Home
Even tho she was bleeding and losing skin, hair burnt like coal, she kept going. Emma got 93% burn injuries, yet still survived. A Hero.
This happened in Sweden in September 2019. She was burnt over 93% of her body (survival of 90+ is VERY rare). Against all odds, she survived. Kids were uninjured. She's doing fine as of today.
Load More Replies...What a Mom! And, from the looks of her Instagram (https://www.instagram.com/eemmaasch/), Emma's thriving and doing just fine! Her profile pic (and book cover, I believe) from February: Emma-Schol...978663.jpg
I'm totally amazed. Thank you for sharing this update.
Load More Replies...I had a bad burn on my foot a few years ago. The pain in the healing of it was beyond anything I'd ever felt. I can't imagine enduring the healing of such burns as this lady took. I'm in awe.
The treatment is often worse than the burns. 3rd degree burns don't hurt - because they've burned the nerves away (ugh). But the treatment to keep them uninfected as they heal is known to be incredibly painful or at least it was a couple of decades ago. I don't think, painwise, its improved much. A lot of people with burns over a large area express how, during the treatment, they wished they hadn't been saved because they're not sure they can bear the pain. If the ones who survive say that I can't help but think it contributes to the low survival rate - I wonder how many of the ones who don't live to talk about it just gave up because they didn't want to keep going through the daily treatments (not disparaging them for that). You have to really have a strong will to live as well as good treatment and luck to survive that kind of injury.

Please Don't Make Fun Of This. I Asked My Mom To Make Me A Bulbasaur Cake For My 21st Birthday, And This Is The Result
She doesn't do any kind of art and I'm really happy with it.
What counts is the love that went into it, and by the way it looks very nice
No thats really good for freehand esp when she doesnt do art regularly omg
Okay, I have to admit I looked up pictures of the "Bulbasaur" (Hey, I'm 73; Rocky and Bullwinkle were my go to cartoon characters!) and the cake looks pretty "spot on" to me! By the way, how did it taste?
I'm 28 and I loved rocky and bullwinkle too! Don't know how old it is but I looked woody the woodpecker too!

If u love your parents, tell them. Doesn't have to be that hard. My dad is kindda cold but shows his love in many other ways and once in a while i'll drop an 'love u' just like passing by, and I can feel he feels touched by that. Btw, i think he has said to me "I love you' a hanful of times in my whole life (im 47) but is the kind of guy who would do a week long research on medicine if I told him I got a cold
Communication is not just words. My dad rarely says the words, but he just spent almost a month helping me renovate my new apartment, working alone full days during the week while I had to go to work. That's love too.
Load More Replies...YAY!!! My son says the same thing to his friends...it's the best feeling ever.
Single mom and when son was a teenager and out at night, I would call every couple/few hours to see how he was..quick little calls. I apologized for doing that one time and he told me that I'm the only mother that does that...but he doesn't mind and to call as often as I want. 😊
When I was a teenager, my mom did the checking-up calls too. It never bothered me, and now that I'm older, I call her if I know she's going to be out late.
Load More Replies...My mother and I never end a phone convo without saying "I love you!" followed by numerous noisy kisses on both sides. We do this at least every other day as she lives nearly two hours away. I'll be 58 in a couple of weeks and she's 84. NEVER stop sharing the love, kids!
I'm so glad kids aren't afraid to show love for their parents in the presence of their friends now. I remember back in the 90s hearing kids and teens talk trash and make fun of their parents, and get all angrily embarrassed if they were seen with their folks.
SAME happened to ME when I brought my son lunch at his grade school. Same EXACT 🥰
"The moment I learned not to take everything so seriously (or myself so seriously), I instantly became a better parent," Talya Stone said.
Susan Newman, Ph.D., who is a social psychologist researching and writing about parenting concerns, family dynamics and trends, agrees. She thinks even though parental anger may seem like the right response when your child misbehaves, it runs the risk of putting a wedge in your relationship.
"Consider a thoughtful, humorous exchange: laughter or a joke, but one not made at your child’s expense in a way that demeans him," Newman suggested in U.S. News. "Sarcasm and put-downs work against tightening your parent-child bond. Let's say you send your child to his room or take your daughter's cellphone away for two weeks. You are ultimately pushing a child away who already feels miserable because he broke a rule or your favorite bowl (or because he got caught). She's stressed by the transgression that curtailed her privileges and may begin to harbor resentment toward her restricting parent."
My Mum Finally Escaped An Abusive Relationship And Found Herself A Little Place. No Furniture Yet But She Just Sent Me This And I’m So Proud
Been there many years ago, it will all just get better from here, best wishes!!
Good for you sweetheart. It won't matter if you have to sleep on the floor or drink coffee/tea from a bottle. You have escaped and you will be happy. I know the feeling. I escaped in the clothes I was wearing along with my 3 daughters but the feeling of not waking up in fear was worth more to me than anything I left behind
Waking up every morning and remembering you are safe and free is the most glorious feeling ever!
A Proud Look Of A Mother
One of the greatest moments of both their lives. I'm so happy and proud for them.
I totally get this smile, this look. My son just got his driver's license, and I think I was grinning like a fool all day. ☺️
That's what the honorary degree awardee's speach at my graduation said.

A Mother Is A Mother After All
Dumb idea. The students wouldn't be able to concentrate over how damn cute this baby is
this is how all women carry their babies in Africa... just wrap a towel.
This is lovely, but I’m just sayin, don’t get all stabby with me. Why exactly did the teacher need to carry the baby and feed him? If the kid was able to keep cool in the lecture and the feeding distraction was the same for teacher or student it doesn’t really make sense. Ups to the teacher for helping out, but don’t really get why she couldn’t have just been cool with student having a kid in class. If it is to keep from a lack of focus like yeah but not really
Babies are carried, get a lot of touch contact, in many cultures. You don't put them down unless you are sitting down. Babies fuss less, potty train much earlier (compared to current US avg age), etc. Student needs both hands, needs to focus. Professor is pro at keeping baby quiet (carrying) and working while distractions abound (experienced mom/parent). Lack of access to affordable childcare leads to situations like this. Also, colleges w draconian attendance rules lead to situations like this.
Load More Replies...Excellent educator, also! That taught her students something so EXTRA! Wow!
Of course, that doesn't mean that humor is always the best answer. "Anything that puts your child in physical danger or seems to put his academic or social standing at risk calls for a serious chat or imposing restrictions," Newman highlighted.
But with that being said, in many instances, a lighter approach reduces both the parent's and the child's stress. So why not make use of it?
"It can also keep a situation from escalating and reduce a child's feelings of regret or remorse over having done something inappropriate. Most importantly, humor underscores that you love your child in spite of the immediate misstep."

Mom Who Helped Her Blind Daughter Graduate From Law School, Received And Honorary Law Degree For Her Effort
I read about this on another BP post. The mother read all her text books to her, and helped her study and wrote essays for her. What a beautiful person
That is a beautiful person!! She is very special helping her daughter reach her dreams! She deserves a jd for that!!
Load More Replies...I read about this, too, and thought, "Why not give the mother a real degree as well? She earned it, too!"
The mother demonstrated determination, moral fortitude, and grit, which deserved to be applauded and recognised with an honorary degree. She has not demonstrated the knowledge and skills required for a “standard” degree. That’s not what she was aiming for or what she needs so there is no issue here. She is still amazing and is being recognised.
Load More Replies...I hope in future they can have the proper accommodations so students don't need their parents to do this for them, but her mother is a hero.
To be fair, when I attended a very highly ranked US college in the early 90's, I was not aware of any braille books in our library, where I worked all 4 years. I had a deaf classmate, and our school paid for his translator.

Was a trainee teacher in middle school and spoke with the students about gaming. They were like "what, you're gaming too? But you're so intelligent!" - wtf did the other teacher tell the poor kids!?! Poor kids!
Yeah, I'm working mine up to being able to play first-person games. It took her a while to get used to moving a camera separately from her character, but Minecraft really helped her get better at it. She's still too scared of the monsters and hands off the controller to me whenever we leave the safe area. Gotta work on that confidence!

My Mom Crochets And Donated 42 Blankets To Sick Children This Year
I crochet and I know the incredible amount of time that she put into making those blankets. That's a wonderful gift.
When I was in the hospital, being treated for leukemia, a blanket was given to me. It had been crocheted by a volunteer. I can't tell you how much comfort it brought me, that someone who didn't even know me made a blanket, to comfort me during a difficult time. It's still one of my treasured possessions. Heartfelt thanks to any and all people who do this.
Thank you for sharing your story, Leslie. I hope you are in good health now. 🙂

A Mother Handed Out More Than 200 Goodie Bags Filled With Candy And Earplugs, In Case Her 4-Month-Old Child Cried During The Flight
A very touching gesture by the mother but as you know when you have kids expect the unexpected.
Not a peep out of the kid.
Aw! That was so thoughtful, especially the earplugs. Love that the baby was actually well behaved though!🤣
Babies can't choose how they behave, if the baby was quiet the whole flight it means her mom was doing a great job meeting her needs!
Load More Replies...Also when you have kids and you do your best to keep them quiet and they aren't quiet, please know that it's OK. We don't hate you or your child. That's what kids do.
As much as crying babies on the planes (or in other places) annoy me, I do understand that this is their only way of communication. And we should all try to be more understanding towards babies and their parents / caretakers.
That’s sad. She shouldn’t have to explain herself, be ashamed because her baby behave like a baby of gave things to people to excuse herself because her baby might cry.
The amount of thoughtfulness and kindness! Some people are just angles
Yes, and this mom was being thoughtful to those around her.
Load More Replies...I’ll never forget a time when I was on a flight and a kid kicked my seat and screamed for 10 hours straight. The kid was about 5 years old. He would scream and kick to get what he wanted. And surprise, surprise, mom catered to each demand. He called her names, and also kicked her when she would even attempt to go against him. This woman didn’t bat an eye or apologize to anyone around her. Her only reply was, “what do you want me to do, he’s a kid.” I could think of a couple of things to do to that demonic monster kicking my seat though.
Wow, a parent with the self awareness to recognize that her child is not a little ray of sunshine for those who aren't their parent? She really is the greatest mom.
For parents who are infuriated by what their child has done, summoning humor in that moment can be hard, but Newman thinks it's worth a shot to make something out of an already unpleasant situation. The social psychologist invites moms and dads to imagine these situations:
- Your toddler throws ketchup at your beige curtains – a direct hit before company arrives in 15 minutes for dinner.
- Your teenager, a new driver, crumples the fender backing out of a parking space when he was told not to take the car to the mall.
- Your 7-year-old tries on every one of your lipsticks, breaking most of them in half.
- Your child uses your favorite handsaw on a mystery, gooey surface, and the saw is now only suitable for collecting dust or the trash.
- You warn the kids that nothing good could come from playing ball in the house. Two minutes later, they crack the living room window.
A Year And A Half-Ish After I Was Adopted. Me And My Mom
It’s so happy-making for me when I see an adopted child who is clearly loved by their parents. I’m adopted but I was only adopted because my mom didn’t want my sister (her biological child) to be an only child. Let’s just say the situation didn’t turn out well, long-term.

That shirt is so funny. Also can anyone tell me the difference between agender and non-binary?
Yeah, as corn chip said, Agender means not having a gender, while non-binary is an umbrella term that encompasses any gender outside the man/woman binary, or can be used as a label by itself. Agender is technically under the non-binary umbrella as it is not man or woman, but not all non-binary people are Agender. Some feel aligned with one of the binary genders but not fully, or some feel a concept of gender, but it is not like man or woman. Probably unnecessarily long, but I hope this helps :)

"None of the [before mentioned points are] particularly funny in the heat of the moment," Newman said. "As you attempt to control your displeasure and decide what to do, consider a reaction that's different from your usual approach. For instance, take the line, 'nothing good can come of that,' as a family mantra, an inside joke, and call it up when you see trouble brewing next time."
"Chances are good that your kids will laugh and start using it themselves (or with their siblings). They may even think twice about having a food fight or using your things without asking, and the line will be one more touching point between you. Alternatively, you can jump up and down or lie on the floor (not speaking) to 'say' without words, 'Stop what you’re doing right now!' And the children will think their parent acting ridiculously is quite entertaining."

A Very Awesome Mom
I do that for all of my kids, they have the option of getting the money after 1 year, or rolling it over and keep saving
Same. Except I have a guaranteed payout at 30. Such a good thing because most of us never had that.
Load More Replies...Not charging your children rent is the most normal thing in the world. Except in the USA apparently
We can't all survive on what our jobs pay us here, and having an adult child living at home means we can't rent that room out to a stranger for extra income. It's only fair that they pitch in to help pay the bills since they're using the home too, and most people charge their kids only a fraction of what rent would normally cost.
Load More Replies...I see nothing wrong with a grown child paying rent. It could be that the money is needed to contribute to covering household expenses. It is also a good way to prepare the person for the cost of living when they do move out. My parents charged all five kids rent after we graduated from high school, except when we went to college. It was $200 a month and they put it in a savings account. When we moved out to an apartment, they gave us the money to cover down payments and other costs. They allowed us to take our bedroom furniture if we wanted it.
My sister is moving in with us since she’s single and having a baby and we are doing the same for her! Won’t be telling her.
A terrific idea. Her son learned important adulting skills. And it paid off.
Single Mom Dresses As Dad So Her Son Wouldn't Miss "Donuts With Dad" Day At School
Today at my son Elijah's skewl as I was dropping him off I ask him why there were so many cars... He said Donuts with Dad, so we quickly went back home cause I wasn't about to let him miss out... I know seeing other dads with their kids isn't easy for me but it's life, at least I can do whatever it takes to put a smile on that face, so here it goes.
That’s absolute love and dedication shown by the mother! Bless them both! I feel like a donut 🍩 now
Me too, because seeing this touching act made me (w)hole 😜. Thanks, I’ll be here, all weak.
Load More Replies...It would be better with a "Donuts with someone you love" day. So many dont have a present dad. Or simply two loving mums instead. If you have two dads, does both get a donut? Never heard of it, but it sounds weird with so specific events, so assumes US?
What I was coming to say. My husband passed away when our daughter was 3. This is so f*****g thoughtless. My girl's school would NEVER do something so un-inclusive, thank goodness. Seems a fairly safe bet this is the USA.
Load More Replies...I wish schools would stop doing this kind of thing. Make it 'someone you love' like another comment suggests or 'someone who loves you'. These days if you suggest that you get people whining about SJWs and 'woke' this or that, but there are so many reasons kids don't have a mum or don't have a dad or have neither and it's hard growing up without a parent. We don't need to make it harder by highlighting how different they are and how their family isn't 'normal'.
I just think it shouldn't be a thing at all. Not every adult can take the time off to go to these things. If you really want to do something like that give each kid a 2 free donuts coupon or something so they can get it with the adult in their life and at a time that works for that family.

If you want to give it a go, Newman suggests these silly approaches:
- Act silly. Walk backward or abruptly stop speaking as a signal that you don't approve of whatever might be going on at the moment. Your children will laugh at you once they understand your action means you are not happy with the current behavior.
- Talk to your child in pig Latin. Or ask her to repeat back to you something you said in the language she’s studying in school or in pig Latin.
- Swoop in. Pretend you’re an angel or part of a cleanup crew (if a mess has been created) to diffuse the situation and get help with cleanup.

- Get emotional, but not really. Make believe you are crying or sad, or do a dance and give it a name: “The Broken Vase Dance” or the “Not Going to Bed Dance.”
- Make up a jingle. Use it when your child might be acting unsuitably or is about to break one of your rules, and repeat it often. For example, bust out a tune when you see your daughter is about to go over her allotted nightly screen time. Or, sing when your son is about to touch an object he shouldn’t.

I grew up with abusive, drug-addicted parents. I was always filled with anxiety about having my own kids and wondered if I’d be a good mom.
Can relate. My parents were awful, but I'm raising my child the exact opposite of how they parented. I'm always there for her, respect her feelings, and know her worth. As a result, we've always been best friends and can tell each other anything
This is why I don't like people standing up in court and using their background (unless super extreme or involving, for example, head injuries or Foetal Alcohol Syndrome or similar but even then 'don't have kids' is a viable option) as a mitigator. I get that there is a correlation between growing up in an abusive household and going on to be abusive, but it IS a choice once you're an adult. Make a choice to be better than your parents or if you really can't get therapy and/or don't have kids.

You are the best mom EVER! It takes a lot of courage to stop the cycle! Good for you!
Ii don't know who needs to hear this but... You are a good mom. You are NOT your parents and you are doing a great job.

A Loving Mother
What? Banning the parent from decorating the banana? That would make the kid so happy! I understand it might be hard to calm down a 6yo, but c'mon. Its a BANANA
Ah, I think orange skin could make a suitable art surface, bit textured, but at least not banned. :)
Load More Replies...sounds like this teacher is in the wrong profession and needs to migrate to a role in policing traffic intersections.
This teacher loves this too. Why would someone forbid it? It can be a fun moment in the schoolday and then you start reading from their favorite book and the ruckus ends.
Load More Replies...What kind of a teacher is that? Did the teacher not have fun, while s/he were a child? Keep doing what you're doing. What's the teacher going to do? Send you to the principal's office?
Nono. You MUST do them for the whole class. It will make the teacher mental and and kids will be so thrilled!!
Everyone's human, and chances are parents will lose it on occasion with their children. But that doesn't mean we can use it as an excuse every time we lose our temper.
As these moms show, a joke is possible in many everyday situations. Try to follow their lead and slip it in if there's a chance!
My Mom Packed A Lunch For Me For My Flight Today. I'm 47 Going On 8
Lol sounds like me. When she was in school, I would occasionally pack her a pb&j sandwich cut in the shape of a heart. Now when I go visit her at college, I bring her a pb&j sandwich cut in the shape of a heart. We both cherish this tradition
Yeah but it’s an awesome lunch. And I am 49 and I will trade you Cheetos for your Dino snacks.
I’m a bit younger than OP, but I can honestly say my mother has never packed a lunch like that for me in my entire life (school or otherwise). I feel like I’ve missed out on so much in life, but because of that I spoil people (and animals) that I love. Enjoy that packed lunch, it’s made with love ❤️
That's to wipe the orange from the cheese balls off. Smart Mom!

Three special needs boys - special in every way. Yes, I’m the mother of dragons too!
My Mom Raised 4 Boys As A Single Mother On A Secretary’s Salary. She Came To Every School Event We Had. And Got Me Through College When I Had Severe Depression
She’s 76 now. I still talk to her everyday. Mom - you’re a Saint. Love you more than anything.
Back when a secretary salary could do this, raise 4 kids, educate them and afford a house AND get time off for school events. How low have we gone...?
I've been asking myself that same question. How low have we gone, and why did we let this happen?
Load More Replies...My husbands mother was the same. Was on her own raising three boys after leaving an abusive husband. She taught math at a local high school where kids sometimes show up in orange jumpsuits and ankle monitors after a weekend in lock up. But she was there for her sons and never gave up on the students. Every student that went on to get a career out of high school was a success story for her. One of her proudest moments was when a student was invited to London to participate in a culinary try out for cooking schools. He was chosen to attend the Culinary Institute of America in NY. Her reward, she got to chaperone his trip to London. First time she was ever outside the USA. She had a blast. We lost her 8 years ago.
So your mom supported all of you on a secretary's salary back in the days when minimum wage could support a family plus a mortgage payment. If people want to know what's wrong with the US today, I challenge anyone to support 4 kids on a secretary's salary!
And probably made those stunning '70s pants, too! Love how there was apparently a 3-for-1 sale on the ties, so big brother missed out, lol. So much love for this lady.

My mom came in my room, brought warm water with honey and told me to drink it. I don't know which one is magical, the honey or my mom, my temperature now is 37.1 °C (98.78 °F) though still a little warm my muscle aches recided. My mom is a stern woman, we don't say "I love you" we just do things to show we love each other. Love you mama.
They sure do, every bit of love and care from us. Yet, sadly, there are times that we forget and take them for granted. How much I miss my mom (and dad).
The worst was when I became an adult and got sick. No mom to make me chicken noodle soup or ask me what sounded good to eat. No mom to fix me ginger ale or hold my hair back as I puked in the toliet. Miss my mom.
It's so hard when your mom is gone. No one ever makes a birthday cake, or cares about the splinter in your foot. Best I can do is be the best mom and grandma I can be to my own kids!

My Mom Made My Guinea Pigs A House Complete With Couches Art And Baby Pictures
I saw a pet shelter once and the animals were all so scared and cooped up and old (a few even a bit mangled) I used all the money I had made babysitting to buy a bunch of the saddest looking ones. I now have to take care of two dogs (one being too old to walk) three cats, seven loud birds, four bunnies, and I love volunteering there! I constantly smell like wet dog and I’m always busy but I regret nothing! (Other than the fact that maybe the commotion stresses the bunnies out probably) the best decision I’ve made in years. Currently working on a giant outdoor playground so the birds can have the closest to their old rainforest since they aren’t domesticated even. I’m just a teen and really really have NO IDEA why my mom agreed to that lol
Your mom agreed to it, because she saw something noble, kind, and good in your impulse and wanted to nurture it. Also, she loves you. And also, I'm betting she's an animal lover too! 😌

When I was in my late 20s, having left home about 10 years before, my parents came to stay. Actually they stayed at a hotel close by and I gave them a key to let themselves into my flat for breakfast. I heard them come in but didn't actually greet them then, I was busy getting ready for work and y'know family. My mom will ask for something special for dinner then later ask if it's too much trouble, too expensive, or putting me out. Why mom? Why can't you just ask and be happy to receive? So frustrating
It's a mom thing. We would give our children everything if we could, it feels wrong to take anything away from them. If one of my children takes me out for dinner, I enjoy it but I find myself thinking "this could have paid for new underwear for my daughter" or "a new video game for my granddaughters". Maybe your son can pass them onto his own son in the future:) (if he chooses to have any children, if not maybe he can donate them:) )
My mom kept EVERYTHING my siblings and I wore (if not threadbare) so we have the worth of two closets in the cellar. Clothes from 1979-~2004, fitting kids ages 0-7. Only moms can make such sweet things!
I have the first pair of shoes for my three children. You can see the first child got them early but the last had to wait longer as less money and knew she would grow out off them anyway !!!!
My brother had a blue wool blazer with brass buttons he wore for Easter when he was about 4 (1968?). My son wore it for his 3rd birthday in 1983 and my brother's granddaughter wore it last year 2021 (she looked like a junior accountant).
I still have my eldest son's first pair of 'Basketball boots' Sort of worn out from crawling, so no good for his sons!
Isn't that normal? We've got heaps and heaps of children's clothes in our basement, because my mother and my older sisters kept whatever was still good for the next child in the family. Came in very handy when we had our twins in 2020. They're wearing things that we wore when we were toddlers, and I still recognise most of my nieces' favourite outfits. Do other people just throw things away?!?

Introduction To A Cookbook My Mom Made For Me And My Sister Before Passing Away
I wish I could have gotten one from my mom. I asked her too before she died but she neither had anything written down and I am still sad about it. I know one recipe by heart and I want to absolutely write a cookbook for my children! And the one grandma recipe will be in it!
I moved 13 hours away when I was in my 20s. My mother asked what I wanted for christmas/birthday (the dates are days apart) I asked for recipes. The place I was living couldn't live up to my father's creations and many of my beloved dishes were obsolete where I was. It is my most cherished possession to this day. My siblings did did not see the significance when mom asked if they wanted a copy, not until years later. They are both far more stable and well off than me in most ways. I'll make a copy for them as well. It means a lot to me that even though my siblings and I take after my parents in extraordinary ways, my seemingly obvious inadeptness proves wise in the long run.

yes it's a common form of discrimination... the idea is women are "mere sex objects" and so the less they wear, the better. However, men are expected to adhere to dresscode. A similar case is cover charge. In our country it's commonplace on large parties to charge only the men cover charge, so as to encourage the ratio of women to men to be higher for predatory purposes. It's gross.

My "Step" Mum Who Has Been In My Life Since I Was 3 Asked To Adopt Me Tonight
That made me cry. When I legally changed my last name to my (step)dad's last name, he actually cried. (He never cries.) He's been my dad since I was 12 (bio was never involved). I was getting divorced, judge said I could use any name. I was 27. Even gave my kids a hyphenated last name to carry on the family name. Having someone love you who didn't have to means the world. He's my dad and I love him dearly! His parents (grandmom and grandpop) even told dad's sister to include me & my kids in the family tree or take him out! I didn't know about this at the time, but grandpop apparently got upset & old her he wanted nothing to do with a family tree that didn't include me & my siblings. . (She was only including biological family) She'd been working on it for years. I didn't find out about it until grandmom's death 5 years ago (grandpop passed 15 years ago.) Finding out about this means more to me than I can say. I lucked out & got an amazing family. Took a while to find them, but they were worth waiting for!

I Have Been Going Through My Mom's House And She Has Left Me Notes All Over In Drawers And On Paper Work
Lost my mom recently after being her caretaker for 20+ years. She was a sweet loving woman and knew I'd need this... It makes me forget about the last 5 years of her dementia and the struggles.
I am so sorry for what you are going through. I know how destroying it can be, even though we do it out of the strongest love there is. My dad got a brain injury in an accident when I was 18, and we took care of him at home for 21 years. I never moved out. He died last year. I’m 40 but I wouldn’t trade a second of those 21 years, even though it has also kind of ruined me. I hope you still get to have some bright sunshine moments with your mom. Hang in there!

If you can, please get help, mental, and help just help for you to get out and do something for you. It will save your life. I learned that the hard way. I send you good wishes and hopes that your mom will soon find peace, and you will too.

My Mom Sprinted To My Room And Woke Me Up To Show Me This Perfectly Round Egg She Found
I was staying at my aunt and uncles when I was young, before I knew about the birds & the bees. I was eating chips and found a huge a*s chip. I rushed to their bedroom, knocked on the door and showed them this massive chip. They were in bed..sitting up when I came in. I realized a few years later that I interrupted them in the middle of their fun.. for a chip...
That is pretty amazing! I feel really bad for the chicken who laid it, though.
Wholesome Mom Before Child Moves Away
So my mum came up to me and said: "Your first night home when you were born, you slept with me in bed. Would you mind if I slept with you in your bed because it's your last night home with me?"

My Mom Sent Me A Picture Of Her Water Bottle With The Caption "I'll Get You Next Time Optimus!"
WAIT I HAVE THIS EXACT WATER BOTTLE AND I JUST WENT AND LOOKED OMG IT DOES LOOK LIKE THAT
Ha! I was so more excited about the new transformers coming out 04/05 ish, used to watch the cartoons after school, and to have my son loving it, the feeling is priceless
But how is that a water bottle? What is it for? It seems to keep very little water and have a lot of extra stuff (voume and weight) to carry around. Or is it a baby cup and we only see the lid and you are supposed to suck on that thing that looks like the only possible water container on the image? And if so, what is that handle for? Are you supposed to carry the bottle in 45 degrees angle?
You have it about right from the second guess, you're looking at it from the top and the plastic part is a mouthpiece to dispense water from the bottle we can't see. It's not a baby cup, and yes those handles annoy me too since it does always tilt to 45 degrees.

This is the effort of over 100 people collecting bags, cutting plastic strips, and crocheting the blankets. I’m so proud of her
Yes, they’re waterproof mats for sleeping on, not blankets, but OP’s mom still put a lot of effort in, either way!
Load More Replies...They're a lot of work but are water proof and will actually retain heat in winter and give air flow to cool you in the summer. The hard part is cutting out all the straips of plastic and sewing/connecting them so you can use them. And it can be difficult to work with until you get used to it.
Wait! She not only crochet 22 blankets, but also did it out of plastic bags😮.....dat womans a trooper
Wow, from this distance you can't even tell it's made of plastic, I wonder what it feels like with all the stitching. How would you wash something like that, with a hose?

And here I was sitting here wondering why the cat was holding pieces of duct tape until I read your comment.
Load More Replies...I wish you people understood the reason they block things like this. It has nothing to do with 'snowflakes' or censorship. It's because of ad revenue. The thing that makes BP a 'free' to use website. If they end up on a list of websites with regular nsfw content, they lose on significant ad revenue. Take your arguments to Google and Microsoft...
I never knew my mother - she died when I was born and I grew up in foster care. 6 years ago, a very sweet grandmother at my work, whom I make a point of finding everyday to say hello to, reminded me to visit my mother on mother's day. When I told her my story, she put two and two together and I walked in to work on my birthday to my very first birthday party she had organized. So for the past 5 years, I spend mother's day with her. My adopted mother. I love you mama Jean!
This got me teary eyed. What a wonderful woman mama Jean is. So great you found each other. ❤

She taught us to dance with the vacuum for a partner; she used nonsense words instead of curse words (I grew up legit thinking for a while that "that little beffel" was a real cuss). She also went without to put us through better schools as kids, than the public ones in our area. And, finally, with all her many flaws, she never turned away a wounded soul, even tho' she has a deep phobia about dogs, from being attacked as a child.... We had five dogs. At once. Bless you, Mom, and all other good moms..
And yet you had the audacity to name her flaws. Ungrateful beffel
