While dark humor isn't a new concept, the name was only introduced in 1935 by the French surrealist Andre Breton. Dark humor jokes include themes that are usually considered taboo or hard to discuss, while often including a touch of irony.
Most popular examples would be the writings of Shakespeare himself, who often viewed tragic moments with a lighter side, or the famous works of British comedians Monty Python.
Our brains have to work quite hard to understand irony - sarcastic messages load our craniums with double the computing, compared to usual forms of language. So having the sense of it, basically means, that your brain is more adept in solving creative problems. Though if you use it too much, other people might confuse your dark sense of humor for sociopath behavior.

ZOMG. Mind scientifically blown to bits. So THIS is why we never see a happy snake; biologically they don't even know which end is up. Like Chris Rock as the Zebra in Madagascar when he too had a biological epiphany: "Am I white with black stripes or black with white stripes??" And my own biological epiphany: "Am I just "with" stupid as the infamous T-shirt declares? Or am I actually the stupid one in this duo???" Sadly, there is proof on a near daily basis that I am not just "with" stupid but am, in fact, ate-UP with the stupidness. A check of my Permanent Record shows I think and do more stupid before breakfast than most full-time professional morons do in a lifetime.
I've done this before. In middle school and freshman of high school. Made a number of upperclassmen friends this way.

No kidding here, we had a "sickle" when I was a child, looked sort of like that one there but more of a rake look to it. We didn't have a lawnmower that worked and dad couldn't afford one, so he gets this old sickle out and teaches his two oldest daughters how to cut the grass.... blisters on our hands and tired from the sun and fighting with whose turn it was, we went to dad to tell him we were done. He tells us that now we have to rake the grass up, you can't leave it there. So we go and rake up all the grass. He sits us down and says, that's how it was done when he was our age. And because his father skipped town leaving two kids under 5 and a pregnant wife, she had to move back in with her folks, who worked a farm. Her brother did most of the work when the old man died, but then the brother died young and dad had to drop out of the 6th grade so he could tend the farm with his mother and grandmother. They lost the farm....... It made our little blistered hands seem not so bad.
I get this at Xmas time I wrap all my presents for people to match my decorations then I'm sad when I have to give them away and get assorted colours and patterns that don't coordinate with my tree. I think I may have issues!!
Oh I think people still do all the same stuff as they did before. Only now they post video/pics of themselves doing it!
I wish we could do that in real life. I would've been killed by my own sister but anyways.

Well, I was reading these comics, losing track of time and then I realised I was up to #101 in 10 minutes (I think) LOL
