I've never had this problem. I have over a dozen chargers from all of my families devices over the past decade and only 1 had this issue.

Yeah it is called a capitalist plot, and/ or conspicuous consumption.

I am not sure why some people never had an issue with their cables, but for many others, their cables do break. But, the good news is: wireless chargers exist, and with those, a charger can finally last. I haven’t checked their prices, though

....but why should we have to come up with hacks when this has been a known issue since the inception of the iPhone?

As a victim of previous physical assaults, where the perpertrator would cut the cord on the house phone and break my mobile to prevent me calling for help - I dont think an Apple device would have survived either.

I wonder if Apple Paltrow/Martin will eventually change her name. Imagine going though your life being named like a high mainetnaince, prone to breakdowns, impossible to work-out device. Least if your name is Nokia you will be assumed to be reliable, straightforward, enduring and always able to do the basics when needed

Apple is actually using the watches in conjunction with medical teams to study and help detect heart attacks, especially in women.

I think the traditional emergency cords and alert buttons worn around the neck or wrist connected to local services are way more helpful for elderly vulnerable people than an overpriced Apple product that will constantly need charging and which older people may struggle to work out how to use.

It would be cool if my Granny could actually afford it
