My 21 Festive Illustrations That Will Make You Feel More Christmassy

The ongoing pandemic has allowed me a lot of spare time to draw, so I decided, as this Christmas has been a bit... weird, why not have some fun and bring a little bit of festive cheer by making a virtual advent calendar on my Instagram? Every day in December, you could swipe open the advent window to find a new, funny, festive illustration. What great fun that would be!

Problem was, I only decided to do this advent calendar a couple of days before December... I very quickly discovered coming up with 24 funny Christmas illustration ideas was much harder than I realized, and then getting the drawings finished in time was extremely stressful! Some drawings were quicker than others, taking only an hour or so, but some took up to 5 hours to complete. There were definitely a couple of late-night, last-minute drawing sessions to get them finished in time to share the following morning!

It’s been worth it in the end as the reaction has been very positive. The ‘Last Christmas’ one, in particular, was shared around quite a bit, and by some big accounts too, including @whitepeoplehumor, who have a whopping 4 million followers!
