You may find it interesting to know that my comment got down voted at least 6 times before it finally started to go up. Seems that vaccine use on Bored Panda is still quite a debated topic.

Animals can break/rearrange the molecules, but the plants are the biological machines that build the proteins we utilize. Either we animals get them from consuming the plants directly, or we get them passed to us by consuming animals that consumed them first. It is entirely unnecessary to eat animals to ensure we get what we need. It might be more convenient to eat meat, but that consumption comes with other things we don't deal with well (such as cholesterol), as well as requiring the death of a fellow sentient being.

Animals do not create proteins. Do some research before down-voting someone for making factual comments.

Not to pry on this but your body breaks down proteins ingested. I remember learning that it uses them to create amino acids. These amino acids are used to create the proteins we need in our bodies need. So actually animals do create protein. What we don't create is all of the amino acids we need to make our proteins. Other than that as long as we are getting the sources of those amino acids it doesn't matter how we get them. Plant or animal. :)

Dark green leafy vegetables are an excellent source of iron, I really don’t agree that meat is essential for humans. I have no problems with people eating whatever they choose, but it’s not correct to say meat is essential for anyone. At the risk of being controversial, intensive farming of livestock has led to antibiotics resistance, which poses a far greater risk to people with lowered immune systems anyway.

Sofia I’m sorry have you ever owned a dog? Vegetarian dogs suffer so many illnesses all because of owners being stuck up and picky. Dogs only eat grass to lower there pack status when they feel threatened (information I learnt from a wolf tamer). Dogs NEED meat, but other things like carbs can go with it. Vegetarian diets are utterly inappropriate and selfish. Feel free to be a vegetarian but do not force that on to your dog unless your goal is to murder them.

Herbivores eat grasses. The word comes from the latin herba = grass. Vegetarian and vegan diets don't involve eating grass at all. I'm saying this because you seem confused on the topic. No "vegetarian" dog is ever fed grass - although they eat it instinctively at the park because it must feel right to them somehow. Vegetarian dogs are not less healthy than meat-fed dogs, that's the perk of being omnivores.

All the essential amino acids are found in other foods, but only animal based proteins and soyabeans contain all 9 of them at once. You don't need meat; eggs and dairy and soyabeans are all complete and while most plant based proteins don't contain all essential amino acids, you can combine two or more and still have all the amino acids you need. Vegans are not generally at any risk of lacking essential amino acids unless they have other dietry restrictions as well. I'm a meat eater myself but I hate this kind of misinformation.

Actually, vegetables contain all the amino acids humans need. Vegans are statistically in better health than omnivores as a whole, across the board.

Nearly EVERYTHING contains essential amino acids, you don't have to search that far. As an adult, you can cover all your nutritional needs with a rich vegan diet. For young children, it's a little harder.

Meowton: that may be true if you compare a vegan diet to the average American diet. However if you compare a vegan diet to a healthy, lean meat diet, no the vegan is not statistically any healthier.

sadly it isn’t. especially for a growing child. amino acids and proteins that cant be gained from veg are in meats and children need that.
