Working in an office does not only mean stability and routine but also stress, burnouts and challenges that one has to overcome. So it is not only good but also recommended to distance oneself from all the difficulties at work once in a while by looking at things from the prism of laughter. And we think we can help you with that!

"Work Chronicles" is back on Bored Panda with even more entertaining comics depicting funny incidents in the workplace. Doesn't matter what kind of job you have, we believe that most of us can relate to at least a few of the situations portrayed in these illustrations.

You can find more "Work Chronicles" comics in our previous article. Let us know if any of these have happened to you!

Bored Panda contacted "Work Chronicles" to learn more about the artist and their creative work. The artist has been working for a technology company for around a decade now. "I used to draw comics years ago in college. Once the pandemic hit, I had some free time since I was no longer commuting. I started making comics again to unwind and 'work' was a topic that I had the most experience and interest in. I posted some comics on the internet, got positive feedback and kept it going."

The artist is self-taught and hasn't had any formal training. "When I was small, I was obsessed with comics. I read every comic book I could find. I would visit different book stores to buy old comic books. I cut out comic strips from newspapers and stuck them on notebooks. Naturally, I had the urge to make comics myself. I doodled everywhere—notebooks, textbooks, newspapers. I continued this habit through school and college. I started drawing comics using pen & paper, but eventually moved to digital tools like Adobe Photoshop, iPad + Apple Pencil + Procreate App and more recently Adobe Illustrator."

That! I always use email and chat as a last resort (after 2-3 unanswered emails). When ask why ? I say: Creating a papertrail to protect my behind. It was useful a LOT of times when someone try to blame my department for not sending an important document on time and then showing the papertrail of email asking someone to transmit said documents because HE was late for his part of the work. After 2-3 times, they stopped pestering me and went to the other department first.

ALWAYS. Sad that it has to be this way, but...people, ya know. Not only learned to email everything, but to time stamp the sending, add a time- stamp notification of being received, another for being read. As for chat, if you must chat, screenshot *everything*!

If you're using enterprise chat tools, good likelihood everything is logged and stored – especially if you work in an industry with compliance mandates (government, healthcare, finance, etc). Granted, mail search tends to be a lot more mature, but, I know Ive sent people reminder-links to Slack convos had MONTHS earlier.

IM is the tool for the entitled. When someone IMs me it messes up my flow. Email me and I'll get back to you, unless it's urgent, which it never is.

Always keep a paper trail. DM's and RM's are paid to lie. Catch them at their own game. Also check your states laws, most states allow you to record conversations without telling anyone you're recording as long as you are in the conversation.

Started only communicating with my ex-live-in-landlord only in email because he kept switching or denying what he'd told us. He got real pissy when I told him we'd only communicate through email from then on

I was almost sent to jail for quite a while because my assistant manager was stealing my deposits in such a way as to frame me for it. If I hadn't made sure to always get it in writing each and every time I'd be on the chopping block for tens of thousands of dollars. Always. Document.

Chat creates document too, it’s why I ask for chat. People get upset but I can always go back and confirm hey you chatted me this at so and so day and time.

Anyone who thinks sending an email is CYA, should not send the email in the first place. 1. The email is your way of showing you work. 2. Discuss and come up with the solution, not a mail thread with questions and finger pointing, it's work not a courtroom. 3. Get a LIFE

True, it's also easier to find later for reference. Chat messages delete themselves after a couple days.

We used to use Skype for Business at work. All chats were automatically saved in a folder in Outlook. I loved this because it created that evidence chain and gave me a way to refresh my memory on conversations. Then one day I called the IT help desk about a problem. The IT guy inexplicably went into Outlook, which was unrelated to my issue, and said "wow, you have a lot of saved chats". He proceeded to permanently delete them all before I could stop him.

You can save chat records too! Also people tend to be more blunt in chats. Also good for blackmail.

Literally have to do this daily because having the receipts means you don't get blaimed for the thing you repeatedly warned won't work, don't do it, try again.

"Work Chronicles" still remains a hobby for the artist. "I did the math and it's a lot of risks to do this full-time. I would need to do Patreon, merchandise, books, etc. And while that sounds great, I'm not sure how it would pan out 5 or 10 years down the line. I'm sticking to my day job right now, but who knows."

"The most challenging part of the creative process is selecting an idea and writing it into a script. I'm more obsessed with the script than the art. Great comics have great scripts. Writing and refining the script is also the part I enjoy the most."

The artist would love to eventually publish a book or a calendar and make short animated videos. Unfortunately, there's not enough time to work on new projects after the day job, comics and family.

"I love expressing ideas in the form of comics. It has the power to entertain as well as educate."

Any recruiter worth their salt will tell you 2 things... NEVER accept a counter offer from your current employer and NEVER tell them where you're going to work next.

I once lost a huge Word document I'd spent months on (like a training manual, with a TOC and hyperlinks to chapters and an index). I actually cried when it got corrupted and was unsalvageable. No usable backups, either. That might've been the first time I really loathed technology.

That's what my small town bank did. They were losing customers because of some ridiculous ideas and then they rebranded. They lost a lot more customers, including me after that.
