Christianity Worldwide: Unity in Belief, Diversity in Practice
The reach of Christianity is undeniable, with 2.1 billion followers worldwide. According to History, Christians are monotheistic, or in other words, they believe that there is only one God, and their beliefs revolve around the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus (1).
There are other subgroups among Christians. In a 2024 feature for How Stuff Works, Mitch Ryan writes that Christians are generally aligned in the belief that Christ died to forgive sins, believe in external salvation, and are universally awaiting Christ’s second coming (2). According to Ryan, Catholics have the most significant number of followers among Christians, with 1.3 billion.
The biggest differences among the Christian groups and sub-religions typically revolve around the practice of the sacred tradition of mass, the holy orders, the structural hierarchy of the Catholic Church, and the way the Virgin Mary and the saints are respected in Roman Catholic doctrine.
Many of these different subgroups among Christians feel that they have a unique set of beliefs. In reality, though, they draw more strength in their similarities.

The Bible: The First Book Ever Printed
Christianity plays a more important part in history than we think. According to Will Lubaroff (Walworth, 2024), the Catholic Bible was the first book printed on a modern printing press (3).
Johannes Gutenberg introduced printing technology to 15th-century Europe. He invented a movable system that used individual, reusable letters that could be rearranged to create different words and pages.
The invention of Gutenberg’s press led to the printing of the Gutenberg Bible, which significantly contributed to the spread of Christianity during the 15th Century and played a key role in evangelizing the majority of the Western world.
Only a few copies of the Gutenberg Bible remain today, some six centuries since they were initially printed. Most of the remaining copies are preserved in museums and are highly sought out by historians and religious scholars.

How Comedy Engages Serious Topics Like Religion
Lauren Feldman, an associate professor at Rutgers’ School of Communication and Information, thinks that people often incorrectly assume that comedy — because it is funny and entertaining — is inappropriate for communicating about serious issues like politics or religion (Rutgers Today, 2020)(4).
Many people believe that humor distracts from important topics and deters the proper spread of a belief system. However, according to Feldman, it is because comedy is funny and entertaining that it can engage and motivate people around challenging issues.
Feldman adds that because comedy pulls people in and creates a positive emotional connection, it inspires engagement and action. When it comes to religion, if the comedy is conceived and executed in literally “good faith,” then it may be more beneficial than originally perceived.
So, as serious as the doctrines may seem, religion finds a place in the comical world of memes by sharing ideas that would otherwise be too complicated to discuss.

did anyone else say the simpsons comic book store guy's voice in their head or just me
Moses took 40 years to atone for the sins of his people, he did not go anywhere. Just say.
In the bible it's bc Moses sent a couple of guys to scout ahead and they decided not to come back for I think 40 days, so everyone was stuck walking around and camping for a really long time. Plus, you try leading hundreds of thousands of people through a desert
To borrow from Fastball ... "But Where Were They Going Without Ever Knowing The Way?"
OMG! I recently rediscovered this song (Thanks to Mojo's video about 90's forgotten songs) and can't stop singing it now! I can't believe I completely forgot about it for about 20 years - I loved it so much in college!
Load More Replies...Well, that route is known to be dangerous, between the endless wasteland and the 50 or so Stand users waiting to attack. So the 40 years make sense.
What route takes 40 years? The one that goes in circles?
Load More Replies...but he had, like, 1000 people following him and he diddnt have a gps
They didn't go straight to the Promised Land. The first generation of the Israelites died in the wilderness, not including Moses
There is truth in this one. Moses was told to take the shortcut but decided not to because it was dangerous, and they wound up wandering in the desert for 40 years.
Lol this is great. For anyone wondering, they wandered in circles the most of the time bc they were using Apple Maps...rerouting...
Actually they were being lead by God, so God is a terrible navigator / huge a*****e.
*David Attenborough voice* "and oh! look! here we can see a avid anti-theist spewing their hate and disbelief in God while mocking Him. It's quite common to discover these creatures on social media when any topic of a higher deity is involved"
Load More Replies...Maybe because Moses was a typical man, who got lost, but refused to ask for directions. ?
Omgosh please, read your Bible. Moses had a ton of people with him, plus animals and etc.
They were doing whole lotta murdering, raping and stealing on their way #readthebible
yeah imma chuck that hashtag right back at ya mate #readthebible before you start saying stuff. gimmie a verse where it says they did 'raping'. they didn't steal or murder either. if your going to count them going into the Promised Land (Israel) and on their way killing people, that was becuase those people tried to 1. kill them, or 2. not let them through. it's also something called 'History' and so if your going to judge the Jews for doing something that almost every other nation in History has done, i think that's a bit bias. soooooo #readthebible

I like that these are mostly clean, and if you’re religious, they’re enjoyable. For those who are neutral and don’t care what people believe, they can provoke a bit of a laugh as well. Nice!
I lol'ed at Lazar getting down voted so hard I had to up vote him
Load More Replies...most of these are quite funny, but some are solely there to make fun of Chritiany and don't get me started on the comments of people who know basically nothing about christianity. Also a sneaky move on BP, interspersing memes with "facts" about christianity with no where to comment on them. Such as saying that Jesus was a Muslim prophet... WHAT? pay no attention to them.
Still it is correct. Other religions also believe there was a guy called jesus. But Jews and Muslims don't believe he was gods son. What is the problem?
Load More Replies...I like a good laugh, but some of these are insulting. Try doing a similar stunt with Islam.
i am a devout atheist but these were funny. honestly if jesus existed he probably would have been a pretty cool dude
Some of them aren't clean but I really enjoyed them it took the stress of 5th grade of me
Five years ago and nothing more? All these rage bait articles and listicles attacking ALL Christians is awful. But BP can only do this every 5+ yrs. Your Christian Pandas are about to be out the door.
Everything can be joked about, EVERYTHING!! There’s no rule that religion is exempt to humor.
Load More Replies...Alright it's funny, but I'd like to see meme about muslim. I want to see how those muslim ppl reaction.

I'm Jewish and am totally okay with joking about my religion.
