Given the chance, Bored Panda reached out to the artist behind "Marginally Creative Comics" to find out a little bit more about their work and life.

When asked what inspired them to start creating "Marginally Creative Comics" and how they decided on the particular themes of coworkers, dating, and family gatherings, the artist humorously said, "I like to jokingly tell people that I created my comic strip as an early mid-life crisis, but really I wanted to reconnect with my artistic side that I walked away from during college. I had to start learning art all over again from scratch, which led to the name 'Marginally Creative Comics.' But it’s been a fun journey thus far."

Describing their process for creating a comic strip from the initial idea to the final artwork, they shared, "Most of my inspirations come from real events within my life, my cats, or from random thoughts. I typically start a comic by sketching out the scenes and see what feels humorous or not. Some comics take a couple of tries to get the feel right."

Balancing humor with everyday realism can be tricky. The artist explained how they navigate this challenge: "It can be challenging at times to find humor in situations that others might not find humorous. So, I typically try to redirect the humor at myself or through my cats, rather than other people."

Discussing which comic strips have resonated more with their audience and the kind of feedback they receive, they noted, "People tend to enjoy when I write about my cats and the crazy things they do. I tend to get the most interactions from my audience on those comics."

Looking towards the future and the new themes or directions they are excited to explore in their comics, they said, "I have other crazy scenes planned out involving my cats and the wacky things they have done. I look forward to drawing those comics and seeing the feedback they receive."

So very familiar. I read that to train cats use treats, but I have yet to find any treats that interests them even enough to sniff it. My neighbours dog is not that finicky.
