If you’ve been on the internet long enough, you might’ve come across Sarah Andersen’s viral comics more than just once. Sarah is quite well-known among the art community of social media, and with more than 4 million followers on Instagram, she has made both a career and a living out of her hilarious and relatable comics.

Andersen has been making comics since her early 20s, and over the years even released a couple of comic books compiling all of her recent and most-liked works. Her comics are not only a classic within the comic community but she’s also one of the biggest creators in her category.

Today we’d love to show you what Sarah has been up to for the last couple of years since we last wrote about her (check here, and here).

Back in 2020, in an interview with Tapas, Sarah talked about her series called "Fangs" which was also turned into a book featuring 112 pages with a hardcover and illustrations. The book revolves around, "Elsie the vampire who is three hundred years old, but in all that time, she has never met her match. This all changes one night in a bar when she meets Jimmy, a charming werewolf with a wry sense of humor and a fondness for running wild during the full moon. Together they enjoy horror films and scary novels, shady strolls, fine dining (though never with garlic), and a genuine fondness for each other’s unusual habits, macabre lifestyles, and monstrous appetites."

Bored Panda also reached out to Sarah, as we wanted to know what other series (besides "Fangs") the artist was working on, "Cryptid Club is my most recent series, the book came out on September 20th and I think it's a great choice for the upcoming spooky season! I am developing two other series as well, though they are too early in the process to elaborate on."

We were also curious if Andersen had any favorites among her comics. "I wrote one a few years ago dispelling the myth that artists need to be tragically depressed in order to make good work. I really believe artists make their best work when they are in a good place and I like to think that maybe that comic encouraged some artists to shift their perspective and take better care of themselves."

Given how popular of an artist Sarah is, we asked her if there was any art style she'd love to try. "I want to go back to the style I used for my series FANGS and heighten it just a bit more. One thing I want to work on within the next two years is a fully fleshed-out graphic novel using that particular style but with even more detail."

As the artist is someone who has been in the comic scene for quite a while now, we asked her to share some advice for newbie artists.

"Don't be a perfectionist. So many artists never post or complete their work because they're afraid it's not good enough. Just make stuff and post it and progress will happen! I also find having a posting schedule helps me get away from that mindset, because it forces me to post even if I want to continue nitpicking at it."

As we said before, Sarah has been making comics for quite some time now, with that in mind, we asked her to share what she would like for people to take away form her comics.

"Across all my series I try to communicate the idea of acceptance. I hope Sarah's Scribbles makes people feel more normal and okay with who they are. With FANGS and Cryptid Club I tried to go further into the idea of accepting friends and romantic partners for exactly who they are."

It's no doubt that over the years, Sarah has received plenty of comments about her work, though, we are pretty sure there were some that stood out in the eyes of the artist, "Someone once called me the 'Princess of American Comics.' That was extremely flattering and ego boosting! But on a more serious note, I think what always sticks out to me is when I meet people at signings and they tell me my comics have in some way helped them. That's the biggest compliment of all and makes me want to write more and more."

Besides being a full-time artist Sarah also has some other hobbies too. "I try to do yoga every day because being hunched over a sketchbook all day can eventually take a physical toll. I highly recommend Yoga with Adrienne because the sessions are empathetic and beginner-friendly, perfect for a non-athlete like me!"

I was sitting at the bus stop waiting to go to work one morning, feeling miserable as hell. Then a dog came running over and put his little paws on my lap and asked for pats and all was right with the world. ❤️

Like all the guys that spend hours every day in the gym working out, just add a lot of full length mirrors.

I recently found an article about animals that were previously classified as cryptids. Makes me at least a little less skeptical about some of them
