It’s So Cold In North America That Niagara Falls Is Frozen, And It Looks Like Something From Narnia
Niagara falls are a spectacular place to visit at any time of year, however in winter, especially seriously cold winters like North America is currently experiencing, they are truly a breathtaking sight.
While the bitter temperatures have caused chaos in some areas and affected the New Year’s plans of millions, one upside to the big chill is the raw beauty of nature. Many areas of the falls have frozen, forming huge, elaborately shaped ice formations dangling precariously on the rocks, giving the impression of a Narnia-like winter fantasy land.
You can scroll down below to check out some of the gorgeous pictures for yourself, they make you feel cold just looking at them!

It a tourist walkway. This is where they wear raincoats and walk up stairs to see the falls closer in the summer. I'm 30 minutes from there.
And when I and my husband retired we were asked why we haven't pulled up stakes here is CA and move back East to be with our daughters and their husbands and grand kids. This my Friends is why.
Looks as if a bunch of weird little critters are hanging on for dear life.
You though getting your tongue stuck was bad... Now imagine your eyes!!!
The photos are stunning but "there's ice around Niagara Falls" is very very different to "Niagara Falls are frozen"
some beautiful pics, but not one of the "frozen" falls.
Because falls are not frozen, only around the falls.
These falls are located on the Canadian-US border. The headline only mentions the US for some reason, even though it appears the bulk of the photos are taken from the Canadian side.
I think it's because saying that it is cold in Canada is not going to capture anybody's attention.
Chill out Tina.
HA!!! Well played Jef Bateman, well played.
Have to take pictures from Canadian side to see U.S. side ... doesn't look like the "falls" have frozen, though difficult to tell unless you are there to see if water is moving.

And you think you think? Hahaha. Sure, i clicked the link because it's soooo interesting that the US are frozen in mid winter... THE FALLS you dumbass! That's what captured everybody's attention... your head is too deep up your butt.
Headline says "North America" which is actually the northern part of the continent where you find Canada AND USA....
Says North America, not US. Are you not in North America?
North America is a continent. Canada is in North America. There is no mention of the US in the headline.
The Headline says "North America." Guess what Canada is a part of?
It doesn't say anything about the US in the article; simply North America.
The headline says "North America" which is the whole continent. That includes Canada.
It looks like it says North America.. North America is a continent not a country.. North America includes the countries of US, Canada and Mexico as well as technically central america and the Caribbean..
Last time I checked Canada was indeed part of "North America" - the headline doesn't say US.
Where in the article does it mention the U.S.? It says North America.
Since when is North America equal to US? Geography class anyone?
The headline says "North America". Canada is in North America. (maybe they changed the headline, but It doesn't say anything about the United States)
It's easier to photograph the US falls from the Canadian side than from the US side.
probably better shots that way, just appreciate how pretty it is ffs
It only says that on the outside of the FB post. Once you open the article kt says, "It’s So Cold In North America That Niagara Falls Is Frozen, And It Looks Like Something From Narnia" Plus, if someone doesn't know where Niagra Falls is, they have been living under a rock.
Americans tend to think Canada is always cold and expect everything there to be frozen tundra! lol Definitely gets more attention saying it's the US.
Except, it doesn't say "US," it says "North America." Which is the continent, not a country.
I came to say this. All the pictures are from Canada (the actual pretty side of the falls that people go to and care about....) then the title only mentions America. Where nobody gives a shit. And nobody gives a shit about America's side of the falls... It's pretty fucking pointedly American (and by that I mean stupid. in Canada the two words are interchangeable).
North America....as in the continent. Glad that extra year of Canadian high school helped.
Kent take a pill. Overreacting to this is ridiculous. Canada and the US are good friends and sounds like jealousy to me when you talk like that. Utterly crazy.
You canadians take such offense to everything, especially people saying theyre in the u.s. when they're on the Canadian side of the falls lol. America and Canada gave a great alliance that allows it continent to live in a week protected peace and for us to cross over the different sides if there falls while barely noticing you entered a new country. That alliance should be charished not scrutinized because people can't tell what side of the falls their on. P.s. if you wanted to argue which country is better having a hissy fit because an article says "u.s." when it says "north America" doesn't help your cause. Granted Donald Trump doesn't help ours so let's not argue and just enjoy it precious alliance.

Yeah, and they should be promoting the dog sled races through Toronto. But America is Great and Number One... make Canada number two, go huskies go.
Well...some people in America definitely still think that the US are number one, while a lot of others could never value Canada less.
BS. Niagara Falls is not frozen. There is ice beside the falls.
you have to admit, it's still gorgeous
Ugh God Elsa what did you do now? No, I did not even blink at this, having gone to college near Niagara. It's always frigging cold up there. Commencement on May 30th had to be canceled one year due to a sudden snowstorm, not kidding.
That didn't happen on May 30 in my lifetime but early April, sure.
Not at all always freezing around Niagara Falls. You just hit a cold front on Grad day. lol Ridiculous!!
I was being hyperbolic. I know it's not always freezing around Niagara Falls *eye roll*, I went to school there for four years. Good Lord learn to read sarcasm and embellishment.

In Tennessee this AM , it was 3 degrees . I made sure the birds were fed, but, there are homeless people trying to stay alive in this weather . It should worry us all.
Beautiful! Too bad you have to freeze your buns off to see that.
It was cold Sunday when I went there. I did not stay outdoors very long.
So cool looking! And I had to put on another layer of clothing from just looking at these photos. :D
Absolutely breathtaking!! It really does look like a winter wonderland!!
What do I think? I think everyone should just enjoy these beautiful pictures and stop nit picking about meaningless details like location and headline! Geez, really? Can't anyone just enjoy nature's beauty?
Yes, the headline says "North America", so Canada and the US. For those bent out of shape about the waterfalls not being frozen, that has only happened once in recorded history and you obviously have no concept of what Niagara Falls is. However, the city both in the US and Canada is named...Niagara Falls (NY and Ontario) and both of them are pretty frozen from the mist of the falls. Hope this clears things up.
What do I think? I think everyone should just enjoy the beautiful pictures and stop nick picking some meaningless details about location and headline! Geez, really?
In March of 1848, the Falls actually did freeze up...solid.
woah, I wish there were photos, it sounds insane and magical
This is NOT true! The water always flows but the area around the falls is icy. I am from NF... They are trying to get people's attention, by saying it froze, but it does NOT freeze.. It keeps flowing. So just because they write this, does not make it true!!
Well, it's certainly possible that they had Fake News back in 1848. The sources seem credible. The articles state that the river was "reduced to a trickle", and when the ice dam let loose, a big rush of water came. Interesting articles, in any case. http://www.niagarafrontier.com/fallsstopped.html https://imaxniagara.com/ontario-canadas-biggest-tourist-attraction-niagara-falls-stops-flowing/
Some of these pics are years old. I can see the old Ferris wheel from maple leaf village in the background of one of them.

YOU'RE WELCOME. REGARDS, CLIMATE CHANGE
Where's Elsa and Aslan?
This is truly beautiful, living in Australia I've never seen anything like this...The closest I've gotten in my lifetime was some heavy hail...So this is so magical.
...How quaint! I love the books and the movies.
This is a lie. Niagara Falls is not frozen, and as you can see from the pictures, it is still flowing.
I've only ever visited the Falls in the Summer months, and they're pretty impressive even then ... But I would love to visit in the winter and take photos like these ones. They look STUNNING!
Half those shots are from Canada
Canada and the US share the border and the Niagara Falls and the Horseshoe Falls are next to each other on the border they share. You can take pictures on each border. It makes no difference if they are taken in Canada or the US.. Get it???
Wonderland
The horseshoe falls Canada side does not freeze as I think it is to do with its size but the American falls are smaller so they do freeze
The very first time I saw the Falls was in 1959 and It was completely frozen,no water going over at all, enormous bolders of ice, very beautiful,.
