How People Imagined The Future 34 Years Ago

It is interesting to look, how people that lived more than hundred years ago imagined the times we now live in. I have compiled a collection of postcards created by artists in the 19th and the beginning of the 20th century on the subject of the Millennium.
Many things depicted on them seem to be funny, but some ideas became a reality.

I live in a 30.000+ people city in France and i got a bike postwoman. Love it! they have cars and electric vehicules too but i really prefer bikers postwoman-postman.
This one exists. I will be using something like this to watch the solar eclipse this month.
Still trying to figure out autonomous road vehicles. A little ways from this future yet.

It's interesting to see that while envisioning a future in which ordinary tasks were mechanized and air travel and underwater life became commonplace, the class system was preserved. Also persisting unchanged: sex roles, racial prejudice, war and violence, and the confinement of women's sexuality,
They obviously believed that we would just add wings to EVERYTHING!! LOL
Yes this was the time!You can tell it was the time of discoveries, trying to "dominate" wild nature, animals and sadly other humans... You can tell this is french too because of all the wine featured in these pics lol (no bashing, i'm french).the pilot who stop to have his glass on a balcony is so fun! Thank you for the post Braslav
I didn't know that The Louvre and a lot of other Paris buildings and streets were reproduced in Belgium and Swiss. I thought it was just in Vegas, sorry for my lack of education.
French are not the only one to speek french ;p Could have been Belgian artists or Swiss. But details like french flag on the colony 2.0 one let no doubt.
Or maybe you can tell because the name of the company stamped on every card is in French.
Either wings or underwater.
They'd be disappointed to know that women did not cover their knees is 2000.
