And if you've been an avid user on social media like most of us, you know how much nonsense is spilled there every day. Luckily, a fair share of people don’t miss their chance to share a social justice take publicly, because every illuminating, educating, and clarifying post helps.
And this Facebook page known as “Feminist Info” is a great place for putting a spotlight on the issues that matter but don't get talked about enough. This also means that the page has a wonderful collection of social justice takes spotted online, and below we selected some of the best examples.

“Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere,” the iconic words from a moving letter from Birmingham jail were written by MLK Jr. in 1963. The powerful sentence followed: “We are caught in an inescapable network of mutuality, tied in a single garment of destiny.” While MLK Jr. was specifically talking about racism in America and the necessity of all people to stand up for injustice wherever they see it, it showed how we are all connected in many more ways than we think. So a simple gesture of standing up against injustice, whether online or in real life is incredibly important.
Even though many people realize the importance of calling out the injustice, whether it’s racism or homophobia, there has been a disturbing increase in hate speech in the U.S. in recent years. A recent report by the Special Rapporteur on minority issues, Dr Fernand de Varennes, showed that the “efforts in the fight against ‘the tsunami of hate and xenophobia in social media’ appear to be largely failing because hate is increasing, not diminishing.”
"In many countries, three-quarters or more of the victims of online hate speech are members of minority groups. Women belonging to these groups are disproportionately targeted,” he reported in a speech during the 13th Forum on Minority Issues at the Human Rights Council in Geneva, Switzerland.

"Too often, hate speech is followed by hate crimes and violence," says de Varennes. "It can too easily prepare the ground for dehumanization and scapegoating of minorities, and for normalizing hate. Wanting to do ballet, doesn't make your son gay. Wanting to be a cheerleader, doesn't make your son gay. Wanting to do performing arts, doesn't make your son gay. The only thing that makes your son gay is their attraction to men, something that neither they or anyone else can control.
I've always found the notion that dancing is "gay", "girly" or "soft" ridiculous and that those terms are often used interchangeably is absurd. Why is it "manly" to shift your weight from foot to foot while looking bored and insecure? Is it such a "hard" and "hetro" thing to accomplish?

The common stereotype that dancing and cheering are only reserved for women is absolutely mind boggling. The amount of athleticism, coordination, and sheer dedication needed is astounding. Denying anyone their full expression of self is flat out cruelty.

When I was a teen my friend got kicked out of his house when he came out to his dad. (His dad said he loved him but wouldn't have any of that gayness going on in his house.) He moved in with me until he could find a place. My mom allowed me to share my room and bedroom with him. The hurt he felt was awful and to my knowledge he hasn't seen his family since.

how any parent could deny their child the things that'll make them happy baffles me , especially if it's at no cost to them , it's being cruel to your child for no other reason than they are some thing you'd rather they where not , you didnt throw him out or cut him off but you really didnt support your own child in things that made them happy , like WTF??? who does that?
Oh so many do, and for so many reasons. My own father refused to pay for his daughters to go to college as there is no point in educating girls (they're just gonna get married anyhow). Had a friend whose parents withdrew their college funding because he wanted to study engineering instead of becoming "a lawyer, just like Dad." What they're wanting is marionettes, not children.

My parents allowed me dancing lessons. My parents allowed me to play with barbie dolls. My parents allowed me to study a "soft" science. I'm still a big burly straight guy. Some people are so caught up in their own fixed view of "masculinity" as having to hide any and all emotion, being as robotlike as possible, that they can't see that none of that is in any way related to femininity or homosexuality. My uncle was big and strong, played soccer, worked in construction. Got a sex change when he was...I dunno, somewhere in his forties. It's like cultural preferences and sexuality are separate things. Amazing.

This boggles my mind. When I became a parent, I did so knowing that it would be hard at times, that there would be sacrifices to my lifestyle along the way, and that my child would likely have interests and ideas that differed from mine, and that, ideally, they'd be their own person. Never once did it occur to me to love them less because of this. This is YOUR CHILD. You love and support them no matter what - that's literally your most important job!

I don't get why some parents are against their sons going into ballet. There are sports athletes, such as American footballers, who take ballet to improve their agility, strength, flexibility, reflexes, etc.
One's sexuality should not considered hard locked just because they find a given sex attractive. People forget that a huge part of acting on that attraction is choice. Yeah, some people find animals attractive or arousing. Don't judge them based on that alone - judge them for their actions and choices. Gay folk are just trying to live their lives the best they can, and my attitude towards the entire situation as a straight guy is mighty simple: If you don't make it a huge deal, then it isn't a big deal. You're attracted to guys? Whoopdie do. Who you love, who you are attracted to ISN'T MY BUSINESS. If you're happy, good! Evolution works by a change in DNA to adapt to new environments. The same can be said of human behavior. It is nigh time to accept that people will not stagnate and remain the same in our constantly changing social structure. There is nothing wrong with being yourself, if that harms no one.
Hate speech and bigotry aside, it’s impossible not to notice how judgemental social media can be. Too many people online and especially minorities have experienced poor treatment and harsh criticism. What makes it particularly hard is the fact that we as a society have a lot to improve when it comes to calling out injustice and standing up for those who are vulnerable.

At the same time, it’s important to dig deeper into the reasons behind a judgemental attitude. We reached out to Dr. Lise Deguire, clinical psychologist and author of a multiple award-winning book “Flashback Girl: Lessons on Resilience From a Burn Survivor” who shared some eye-opening insights.
In most cases, Dr. Deguire argues, those who judge others tend to be just as harshly judgemental about themselves. “In my clinical experience, the people who are most judgmental towards others are secretly the most harshly judgemental towards themselves. Inside, these people are highly self-critical. It is no wonder then that they treat others the same way they treat themselves, critically and harshly. Frequently, when these people learn to be more loving and accepting towards themselves, they also become more tolerant and sympathetic towards others,” Dr. Deguire explained.

Dr. Deguire explained that people's judgment and criticism of us feel absolutely terrible, sometimes even devastating. “When this happens, the first thing to do is to notice your own pain and distress and to treat yourself kindly. It hurts, plain and simple. Having compassion for your pain will help you bear it.”
“Once you have recovered from the hurt of being judged, it is good to remember that anyone judging you that harshly is probably in a lot of pain themselves,” Lise said and added that awareness may help you to move beyond the hurt of the moment.

Growing up looking more like a girl than a boy in the naughty 80s brought me perspectives on both sides. Progress have definitely happened over the past 4 decades, this I'm sure just by observation. It's also true some has regressed like the US and because of political use of religion as propaganda. At this stage, I can only see these progress stopping if people start being partisan or absolutely binary about things. It's never us vs them. It's always about finding a middle ground.
Oh yeah one time I whipped out my period blood pants. In front of a guy. I was at the nurse getting new pants. I bled on em
