Some dog breeds like pit bulls get a bad rap because of negative stereotypes, and as we all know, they're more false than true. Freelance Illustrator Laura Palumbo pokes fun at some of the associations when it comes to some dog breeds with her series of minimalist illustrations.

"Many people I know say they would like to have a dog, but they exclude Dobermanns, Rottweilers, Pit Bulls, and so many other breeds from the start, because there’s still a belief that they are too aggressive," Palumbo told Bored Panda. "I think it’s true that every breed has different traits but with correct education, every dog can be suitable with kids. I believe that dogs are what their humans are."

This is my favorite because I run a rescue with my aunt and we rehabilitate bully breeds and we really want to show their sweet side

Totally true. In my 26 years of practice 99% of the Pits I encounter are happy, lovable wanna be lap dogs.

I stop pitbull owners all the time and ask if I can pet their dog. And, I accept kisses if they're willing. My girl, a stray pit mix, is the biggest baby in the house. Her poodle brothers are much braver than she is. Don't get me wrong, she's not a behavior issue, but come a thunderstorm and she's glued to us.

I love this one because we rescue pitbulls and NONE of the stereotypes are true - other than they think they are lapdogs, shake their boodies, dyestuff toys, and like to kiss you a lot!!!! Oh, and are the most loveable dogs on the planet!!!!

Yes! Probably the most undeservedly stereotyped breed, yet the most amazing and loving family dogs!

Wondering if she has these special illustrations for sale? Do not see them on Etsy store.

We have the sweetest pittbull ever! She loves kisses. She adopted and mothered a orphaned kitten when it was only 10 days old. She just to be loved and petted and kissed. We had trouble finding a place to rent because every realty company had a vicious breed rule and pitt bulls are considered vicious. It couldn't be farther from the truth. Bully breeds have been used as nannys for centuries.

I love dogs and have always owned them, including Rottweilers and German Shepherds, but having been mauled by a pit bull as a child, I can't relate to this one.

I'm sorry to hear about that, Georgia. As a veterinarian, the dogs that try to bit me most often are shih tzus, chihuahuas and dachshunds. Some of my easiest appointments are with pit bulls. I hope you can learn to forgive the pit bull breed one day.

I have the most rad 1 year old pure bred chi. He's easy going, loves people, loves other dogs, is super inquisitive, loves swimming and is the most independent puppy I've ever known! He's unlike most Chi's and for it, I am so grateful. I couldn't imagine him being a little a*****e.
