Belgian artist Joeri Christiaen began illustrating daily life in lockdown the day it all started, 6 weeks ago. What began as just one casual drawing has now become part of a late-night routine, which he didn't imagine would last for weeks.
Joeri, an animation writer and director based in Paris, illustrates challenges and unexpected comedy coming from family life in lockdown―from homeschooling young kids to hectic conference calls, dealing with being together 24/7, and trying to find (some) time for yourself.
Even though many people are now in self-isolation, there are a lot of relatable situations we continue to share. Every day Joeri receives messages from friends and strangers telling him they’re looking forward to these daily slices of life because they make them smile, feel touched, or simply a bit less lonely. As many of us are juggling between family life and work in these exceptional circumstances, it’s nice to remember you’re not the only one out there not handling it perfectly or having it all figured out!
As Joeri’s main craft is to create and direct animated films and series (you can find more information about his work on his website or Facebook page), this is now inspiring him to write a new short. To be continued...

Day 23: Making Choices
Reminds me of Smith and Jones, when they were talking about eating the onboard airline food, cos they'd already eaten the passengers!
These characters seem very familiar to me :D
Reminds me of the song "Dodenrit" by the late Drs P, in which the children are fed one by one to get rid of a group of hungry wolves.... I know it sounds creepy, but the song is actually very funny
is that the 'trojka hier, trojka daar' song

Small piece of dark heavy paper and tape (until your order for an actual webcam cover arrives). Also, turn off your microphone and speakers. That way you can vent at them to your heart’s content and they’ll never hear you—-something you can’t do in the office.
YOU,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,YOU..................................YOU!!!!
Day 33: Learning New Techniques
Or old knowledge can be revived by them. You really think Dad didn’t do the exact same thing at that age?

Day 19: Homeschooling
Omg I almost lost my damn mind. Even my husband sat there and was like....what? Because my son learns like I do I just taught him how it makes sense for me. His teacher next year is gonna have a heck of a time with him.

I'm lucky. My little guys (11 and 12) can get their own cereal and are old enough so I don't have to watch over them 24/7. But still young enough to cuddle with me when we watch movies.
Day 25: Remote Brain
come on brain, time to wake up! Brain:zzzz come on brain, time to sleep! Brain:when a train leaves the sttion and is moving at 80km/h

Hey moms and dads. They grow up and are gone quick. Be sure your family knows they are loved!
Loving them, and needing a break are two different things.

Magnify your screen. If you have a PC, hold the key and turn the mouse wheel (on top, in the middle of the mouse at the front) away from you.

Day 7: So Far So Good
When you are a gamer, see this, and immediately think of Endermen
Day 5: Soooo Many Questions
Day 8: The Switch
This describes so perfectly what it feels like to be a working parent right now. My husband and I are juggling at magical levels, for work and school and home, every single day.
Day 13: The Kids Are Fine
Day 21: Daddy's Glitching
Day 6: Conference Calls
For us it's wrestling breaks with my little boy. Never. Enough. Wrestling.
Day 31: Strange Times
Day 40: Road Tripping
In some countries you must have a valid reason ("valid" as in "one of the authorized reason chosen by the government") and sometime a paper to prove it to get out, in a car or by walking. So not that simple ;)

Some people want it to go back to normal, but what if normal is away from family?
Ah yes. I love it that me and my bf can now eat all meals together <3

Day 12: Never Waste A Ray Of Sunshine
Day 35: Hide And Seek
Day 30: Keeping In Shape
Day 17: It's That Time Again
Hungry kids can become downright feral. So can hungry pets, and hungry husbands. Can’t blame kids or animals, though. However, the husband is a different story. I know his arms and legs aren’t broken, his birth certificate says he’s waaaay over the age of 6, and I have a suspicion he might have mutated and grown opposable thumbs by now, so he can open the fridge and get himself some food if he’s that damn hangrey between meals.
Put on the whole armor of God and go.Get what we need without hurting anyone.

Day 20: Conference Snack
He's confused between work responsibilities and family responsibilities. All of these comics are about the challenges of having small children, working full time, and taking care of yourself maybe when all of your resources and support system aren't available any more. The experience has been funny, exhausting and sweet. I totally feel this guy right now.
Load More Replies...I think he is being confused for being locked for such a long time and accidentally tried feeding his colleague through the monitor whereas he acts as if he was working when he's with the kid. He's just tired and confused in the neverending evergreen of working from home and caring for his children

Beautiful artwork. I really love the style. AND THEY´RE FUNNY, TOO!!!
Most of these were too small for me to read but the one's I could read were very relatable.
Artist has some Calvin and Hobbs characteristic to his drawings.
So funny and wonderful! I came across another article about lockdowns in history and how art coped with them - https://bit.ly/2Yln95Q Thought others would find it interesting!
Okay, but if you don't like it, you don't have to read it. No one's forcing you to.
