Jonathan and Elizabeth met while studying at art school, where there were no classes on comics. Initially, they pursued different artistic paths: Elizabeth focused on illustration, while Jonathan created short films and documentaries.

According to the artists, the name War and Peas is based on a small illustration from their sketchbooks. "It was a carrot reading a book titled 'War and Peas.' We felt that this summed up our sense of humor."

When asked if they believe people still appreciate dark humor today, War and Peas responded, “We believe that there will always be a certain number of people who enjoy dark humor because it addresses pain in a way other forms of therapy can’t. Although we love the idea of millions of people laughing at our jokes, it’s all about ourselves and making each other laugh. That hasn’t really changed since our beginnings.”

Actually that's a myth vampires LOVE garlic, so they never prey on people who grow it, leading to the superstition that garlic wards of vampires. Due to the fact that vampires don't need to eat much, confirmation bias turned it into a piece of fact, when actually, vampires are MORE likely to choose you as their meal if you are wearing garlic. This is why they mostly keep to old-fashioned places, as they are more likely to wear garlic as protection. (Fun fact: Wearing or eating a lot of garlic actually makes a good ward against humans)
