In the upper right portion of, what little is left of the upper levels walls, you can still see the letters NAL. The remaining remnants of what used to say Bannerman's Island Arsenal, according to Wiki. Wiki also mentions that the castle is easily visible by riders of the Metro-North Railroad Hudson Line and Amtrak's Empire corridor line.

I thought about DC Tower first thing reading the title of this post, and here it is :) Fun fact: It should have a twin, but it never was really started, because they realised, that there were too many empty offices and space in DC Tower 1, so they abandoned plans for DC Tower 2. Would have been a cool view, imo. DC Tower 3 is ugly as funk

This building also does a trick that when you're approaching it on the beltway it looks like it's on your left. But then suddenly it's on your right. It's because the road curves, but if you didn't know about it you'd swear that the temple just jumped across all the traffic lanes.

I'm not sure why this says it's in a mobile park, because according to the little bit of info I looked up, this 'evil pyramid' is part of a decommissioned military facility. The Stanley R. Mickelsen Safeguard Complex was the US first operational Anti-ballistic Missile(ABM) defense system built in 1975. It was fully operational for only 6 months before being decommissioned, with a price tag of $6 billion, which equates to over $35 Billion today.

Some more Viennese supervillain hqs (Because I'm always late to the game and can't post anymore): - Wotrubakirche (a church made from concrete blocks); - Narrenturm (Continental Europes first psychiatric clinic , now contains the Patholigic-Anatomical Museum); - the building from the HGM, Heeresgeschichtliches Museum; - Karl-Marx-Hof (municipal housing complex; with being 1100 m long and having 4 tram stops, it's one of the worlds longest buildings); - The secession building, containing exhibitions of contemporary art) and so many more :)

I know a lot of people hate brutalism, and it's a very hard style to pull off, but I think that when it's done well it creates a very powerful image.

True. I actually find something poignant about the look of aging Brutalist buildings; the patina I guess. But it could be that a lot of Brutalist buildings were fairly new and modern looking when I was young.

I've always thought that Predjama Castle in Slovenia would make a good supervillain HQ. It's a castle built into a cave mouth. It was featured in Season 3 of The Witcher.
