Carseat Hack That Could Save Lives

Write out child’s name, DOB, parents names, emergency contacts, any medical conditions, any meds your child is on and even child’s doctor, then stick it to the child’s car seat. In the event of an accident and the parents are unconscious, this information will be extremely helpful to EMS

This is the first thing I did when my little ones started wanting to run for the hills. My 7 year old knows to this day to touch the car when he gets out of the car.

Also this way the kid (and you) easily recognize which car is yours when coming back and searching for it in the parking lot (providing they are not too common, don't look all the same and aren't put on the same place on all other cars who have them)

I use to do this when my kids were little. But I had no fancy magnet I just said “hands on the Jeep” and they’d put hands on the Jeep. Keeps them preoccupied so they don’t run off.

She isn't trying hard enough and why is the magnet so high?! Snowflake idea. What happens when there is no magnet - she runs wild like a feral cat?

My kids had to be holding onto me, either my pocket, a belt loop, or to my skirt. That way, if I wasn't looking right at them, I could still feel if they let go and knew to turn my attention back to the kiddo. This is nice, but if she decides to stop touching the magnet, you might not notice right away.

I always thought this was a great idea. Nothing makes me madder than a kid running in a parking lot not holding an adult's hand. I get it, parenting is hard and those little monsters are hard to control... I just remember pure unadulterated terror coursing through my veins if I ever considered running in a parking lot.

I feel like if you are by the car, you put the kid in the car before you do anything else, and you take the kid out last, after everything else. Then there's no opportunity to run around because you've got your hands full.

I Agree with Sunflowers. This grip is tortuous. It could be I've been conditioned by two decades of drawing, but I can't help but hold my pencil using only two fingers - either thumb/index, thumb/middle or index/middle and, in each case, the other fingers are used as support, so they're in contact with the surface I'm drawing/writing on, not the palm. Frankly, I think it's a mistake to teach a child a single, "proper", pencil grip. Let them experiment with it and find their own. It's the same as forcing left-handed people to write their right, because that's the "proper" way, because it might mess with their perception of right and left. Both my dad and girlfriend are left-handed and have been forced to use their right for writing in school, so I know this one from experience. It gets especially visible when they're tired or unattentive - you tell them to turn right and they unthinkingly turn left.
