Sometimes the notes contain very very hurtful rantings and it would be far more harmful to hand that note to the family. Just note it's existence and only turn it over if they ask.
I thought they had to be an MD for some reason. Probably from watching too many CSI shows. 😂
Yeah that's the medical examiner. Those are doctors who do autopsy. Coroner's are either elected or appointed and they manage the investigation, the scene, and the flow of information. They have training to investigate the death. They do not perform the autopsy.
Load More Replies...You won't be able to get one if the investigation was not closed though. Open investigations are not available by FOIA
Someone in the business told me the day they get used to notifying the next of kin will be the day they quit....big hearts needed in that moment with lots of respect.
Remember the guy who tried to k**l himself by climbing into a campsite toilet pit to drown in? Now that's hatin' life!
Wow, and that was $112k 6+ years ago! Wonder how much it is now... I could never do that work, tho
There is also the DNA Doe network. You can upload the DNA like CODIS and run it against samples provided by family seeking missing persons.
"Anyone who needs coping mechanisms to do their job probably shouldn't be in this line of work, as it is constant". If that was the case in teaching, we would have an even bigger shortage of teachers than we do already lol.
Also, generally why would you traumatize the person's loved ones when you can just run a dental comparison?
Fūck this answer. Seriously, how dare. People with mental illnesses can have normal functional lives with proper treatment. Also, someone's online persona isn't everything about them.
Wasn't this the answer to "which part do you love the most" or something like that?
I’m very surprised that someone that doesn’t have a medical type of degree can be a medical examiner.
It really shouldn't be that way. We had a patient I will never forget. Died of some weird neurological disease we couldn't figure out. Was becoming progressively more paralyzed over time. None of us knew what it was. We even suspected possible poison. ME released her to the family with no autopsy. Bc the ME was not medically trained and did not understand how bizarre this illness was. That's when I realized how ridiculous it is that this is an elected position given to a non-medical person. It's outrageous really. Listen to this guy. His qualifications were that he transported dead bodies and took 1 online course. That's who's deciding if your loved ones deaths should be investigated or not.
