When I was a kid, we had one of those console turntable / radio combinations. With the cabinets to hold the records, it had the footprint of a coffee table. But anyway, the turntable stopped working. Without asking permission, I took it apart. It wasn't a big deal, I just removed the C-clip and took the platter off. The problem was obvious - a belt had jumped off a pulley. Put it back together and everything worked. My parents were amazed. Not so much a story about exceptional genius as one about low expectations.

Genetic testing and ancestry testing are two different things. Plus you may not find any skeletons in your ancestry results. I didn't. I have potentially the most boring family in the US. No scandals, nothing. I have related marriages but it's int he 1500s and it's not surprising given the town these people were living in only had like maybe 200 people, maybe and they didn't marry outside their culture so who else are you going to marry but your first cousin once removed?
