Having your opinions is always a sign of a mature, independent and confident person. But what if that confidence is so strong it gets in the way of self-reflection and self-criticism? Apparently, having bucketloads of confidence is a two-edged sword, especially if you lack a substantial argument to back it up.
Thanks to a Reddit community called “Confidently Incorrect,” we now know what happens when all that empty bravado turns against you. First, you land on the pages of this subreddit “For those times when people are way too smug about their wrong answers.” And second, you are likely to be sizzled and turned into roast.
So scroll down for some of the funniest examples of overconfident people proven wrong, and be sure to check out part 1 of the article after you’re done!

wtf? sex education will help kids understand sex, and therefore be more safe. stop making up statistics you jerk
Yeah, if kids know more about it, they are able to make better and more informed decisions, resulting in less unwanted pregnancies, abortions, STIs, etc.

Load More Replies...The ‘Confidently Incorrect’ subreddit is really a gentle (and often much-needed!) reminder to always double-check our facts even when we are totally sure about them. With the internet being a perfectly safe place to voice out whatever is on your mind, many people abuse that by spreading false assumptions, gossip, fake news and facts.
No wonder the community, which is only a year old, has been sharing a lot of content “for those times when people are way too smug about their wrong answer.” With 633k members, ‘Confidently Incorrect’ is growing day by day, and you can see how very relatable people find it.

Økay
Just like Øystein is a perfectly normal Norwegian name. And no, replacing æ (or æ) å, ø (or ö), and ü with a, o und u make completely different words.
I learned this when my uncle taught me a bit of basic Swedish. The sounds the extra vowels make are completely unique.

I use that in handwriting too, particularly if I'm writing down passcodes etc. that have both numbers and letters.
Load More Replies...No, but hate groups in the US often appropriate Viking and Scandinavian lore and symbols to promote white supremacy. I've never personally seen ø used in a racist context, but it's not about the symbol itself. It's about white supremacists misusing it. But that was a very bad assumption to make in this situation, as the symbol is obviously most often used outside of an American/hate group context. Even if it were being used by white supremacists (again, idk, never seen it used that way myself), it's ridiculous to think anyone who uses it is racist.

Yeah, Who Is This Stephen King Guy Anyway?
Knew someone who was in a bookstore in Bangor looking at the Stephen King books, talking to some stranger about how the guy can’t write. The stranger left. Purchased a book and was given an extra book by the cashier. A signed copy of a Stephen King book. Same person they’d been complaining to- Stephen King. Classy.
Go read some Richard Bachman mr. King. Maybe you'll learn something.
I wonder when this was written. The survival rate isn't nearly as high as the deniers think it is, and many of the people who "survive" have permanent damage to their lungs and other organs.

Happy 8 Month Old Birthday!
Hey guys, I'm 327 months (and 12 days) old today! Happy birthday to me!!
People do half and quarter birthdays in Europe. Its not super common, but to say that they aren't bright because they are doing something that is slightly more popular in Germany (ie their lineage) is what's not bright. I myself am German and while its not common... I know people who do this.
Load More Replies...Every day can be your birthday if you like fractions or measure in days rather than years and want justification for a cake.
Just an FYI, newborns/babies change so fast the 1st year, it's actually a "thing", to photograph & mark the occasion, every month. That's why you can find all sorts of "Calendar blankets", in many different themes, for parents to do these photos at home. Many photographers & studios also offer packages, as well.
Nor do they know the correct meaning of what they write or say.

Load More Replies...I absolutely hate how people attribute human emotions to wild animals. How can a wild bear from vision and smell alone conclude that a group of people is not a threat? A bear is a bear and will do what a bear has to do in the given situation. It doesn't "understand" you, it makes a decision based on what it can gain and what it has to lose. If a wildlife biologist says a bear with cubs can be aggressive, then by all means step right up to that bear and see whether it "understands" your intentions or not.
They understand posture, facial expression, scent, and vocalization- just like most mammals do. Maybe you should step up to a few bears with varying impressions. Comment with the results.

Having said that, the founder agreed that confidence is one of the most important traits we could have and that without it “we're nothing. Confidence is what gets us out of bed, what gets us out the door to face life. People definitely listen to those who show confidence."
"Just look at politics. Politicians are probably some of the most confident people on the planet, and a pretty large amount of people just listen to what they say. Load More Replies...I dont understand why people are so offended by a word 😩 ‘they/them/theirs’ is used all the time for just refering to a person in general, eg. ‘Someone left their backpack behind, hopefully they will come back for it’
Took me a while to get this they/them thing, since English in school is some decades ago (I even cannot remember this having been a subject in school ever). In German you would say or write "he or she", most people or scripts only refer to the maskulinum. For example: "If somebody eats this, he will be sick."
As a non-native speaker, it took me a while to get a hold of this notion too. The first time I heard " If You Love Somebody Set Them Free" by Sting I asked everybody around me if it was the correct way to convey this thought! :)
Load More Replies...What cracks me up about these people is that they also think "Thou" is an onorific because on the King James bible is used all over the place to talk to god. If you have to have an Italian explain english to you, you need to read more.

Y2K was underwhelming tbh. Some people were hording beer and other stuff in their bathtubs, but most computers just kept working.
Yes, but that wasn't an accident. It was underwhelming because of all the work we all did.

I was frustrated (vcrs were expensive) and amused at the same time. And it still is a great anecdote to tell people, if the topic comes up.
Um, no - it was a very real problem. I gave up most of my Christmas vacation to transfer our accounting system from DOS based to a Windows program, ensuring the GL balanced to the penny and that the new program would be fully functional.. Come January 1st all of our invoices and picking tickets would have been dated 1900 and the entire system would have been in chaos.

$15 An Hour = $100k Per Year
It's quite amazing how some Americans feel threatened by what someone else makes. It ain't your business if a server would make $150K and a cashier $90K. It doesn't affect your income nor your life. So why should you be against a minimum wage? Because people who don't want to pay their employees a decent wage are telling you that the economy would collapse. Look at Europe, where everyone is obliged by law to pay a minimum wage and that economy is doing pretty well for a collapsing economy.
Because it threatens their sense of superiority. If I earn $50k as an accounts assistant, how can a lowly, less important, barely qualifies as human SERVER earn $40k?! How dare they?! I'm worth *magnitudes* more than them! I'M more important! (etc. etc. /entitled rant)

$1 Million Or $6?
You can get $1000000 if you receive $6 every month, you just need to live for like 14000 years. Easy enough, isn't it?
Read on the Reddit thread: "Hey op, I think she made the tweet based on an ongoing tiktok trend where they mock stocks people by making fun of passive income with this formatted joke."
Or, take the $1 million now, let me invest it for you, and I'll give you $7 a month for the rest of your life. You'd be $1 richer a month.
OK. I’ll take the million bucks now. I’m 60. I come from a long-lived family, so let’s say I live to 110. That’s 50 years. There are 12 months in a year, and the monthly payout is $6. 50 x 12 = 600. And 600 x $6 = $3600. Even if I was 10, that would only make it $7200. Math is hard for some people. The million dollar lump sum is also passive income—-just passive income you get all at once, instead of piecemeal.
A. I have no idea how she got to that number, so stupid. B. $1,000,000 right now is always the right choice. Change my mind.

The Education System Has Failed Ya'll

We learnt BIDMAS. Brackets, indices, division, multiplication, addition and subtraction.
Load More Replies...That's like one of the first fundamental rules you are taught : multiplications and divisions before additions and subtractions. But i admit parenthesis are convenient.
To be fair when I was in infant school in the late 1970’s & early eighties and through comprehensive school I never came across “order of operations”.
The math “order of operations” was officially spelled out around the early 1900’s.
Load More Replies...What frustrates me is not knowing the original question or problem. I know I am old, but isn't it easier with parentheses around the correct numbers and/or commas as needed? This helps show the order of operations as pointed out in Mr. Neil's post.

Thats Not How Monitor Size Is Measured
I'm more surprised that he doesn't know that monitors and tv screens are measured from kitty corner to each other.

Maybe, but punctuation, spelling, grammar, spelling and syntax are very frequently bungled in these tweets, so it can be hard to tell sometimes.
We’re focused on the mistake in the usage of the company’s name, but is anyone gonna tell this person that an outage isn’t “quick” or “fast”… it’s INSTANTANEOUS. So, verbiage doesn’t matter anyway! You’d never hear, “A storm quickly caused a power outage.”
And The Vast Majority Of Comments Too
The assumption in itself only makes two - serious - errors: First the law of large numbers says nothing about the individual case. So while statistically over time a virus will get less virulent, this does not mean that no strain could become more dangerous, just that the more dangerous variants with a certain probability will decrease in numbers over time if they tend to seriously incapacitate the majority of hosts - while there still can be people dying from it. Second, less virulent does not mean less contagious- quite the opposite. The "perfect" scenario would be an extremely contagious virus with very few symptoms. What surprises me most is the fact that this argument is often brought on by people who generally reject the idea of evolution - while this mechanism is quite what evolution is all about.
To dumb it down for people, the virus needs hosts to live, it deos not want to be dangerous because if it is then it might kill all hosts.
Load More Replies...Yeah, they become weaker because everyone knows only the weakest ones survive and reprodu... Oh, wait
No... if I virus kills its host too fast it's ultimately killing itself too... evolutionarily speaking it's in the virus's best interests to keep its host alive so it can continue to spread.
Load More Replies...Mutation does not make a virus stronger, it makes it more resistant/resilient. That's how survival works. Just like cockroaches are able to develop immunity to an insecticide only a few generations after being exposed to it.
Mutation can work either way. Viruses are constantly mutating into forms that are more or less virulent or contagious, it's their nature to constantly change, and the laws of Natural Selection take it from there, deciding which mutant forms will become predominant. And BTW, pandemic viruses generally get more virulent and then less lethal when they kill too many hosts, look at the history of the H1N1 virus that cause the 1918 "Spanish Influenza" pandemic. The first wave was a bad flu, after a round of mutations the second and third were incredibly deadly, then the viruses became less deadly as too many hosts died off and the super-deadly strains had no place to live. Now the H1N1 virus is just seasonal flu that's worse than most.
Load More Replies...I can’t tell if the respondent is being sarcastic… or if they agree with the original post. Are we dealing with two ignorant people or just one?
Probably should learn about viruses mutations first. Viruses can become more deadly simply by being more transmissible allowing them to get into vulnerable populations. Saying that a dead host is no good to them, they need someone who can help it spread.
