Don't use sponges and add to the microplastics. Use a cloth. Wash them. Easy peasy.

Sheesh, use a dishwashing brush that doesn't grow a microbial culture the instant you use it even once. You can even run it through the dishwasher machine every few days, and replace the brush part when it starts to wear off.

For the pots and pans, either use a sturdier brush or then just pick a steel wool sponge, instead. (They aren't good gor your non-stick pans, though, but no-one in their right mind even uses one. Use cast iron or carbon steel.)

"I felt like I was lying on cotton"? Cotton sheets exist though. Did they mean "I felt like I was lying on a cloud"? I don't really understand this. Maybe they thought mattress protectors are always rustly plastic that would not be comfortable or quiet

There's no need to replace them that often, unless you manage to soak them for too long. Decent wooden ones last for a generation, if taken care of properly. There's absolutely no sense in replacing stuff just for the sake of buying new stuff.
