Kinda reminds me of the movie 'Under the Skin'. Scarlet Johansson as an alien wandering Northern Scotland.

Comics, as a form of artistic expression, have evolved significantly over the years. From their early beginnings as simple strips in newspapers to today's complex graphic novels, they have reflected changes in society, culture, and technology. Now, turning our focus to Kristian, we're intrigued to explore whether he's observed any notable shifts in the themes or tone of his comics throughout his career.

The artist shared that in the beginning, he certainly experimented with various themes and entirely different tones to explore different creative avenues.

"An early inspiration was the webcomic A Softer World (long-running, but now defunct), and I sometimes aimed for a similar approach, which focused more on the wording rather than the artwork. However, I realized that wasn’t my strongest area, which led me to create more wordless comics with as little dialogue as possible."

But they never called it the monster, at least not in the version I read. They called him the creature.

The monster was Frankenstein's child, hence also Frankenstein.

That only worked in Pinocchio because Gepetto wanted a child so badly. I think Frankenstein's motivation was rather different.

Nope, XKCD did a comic where the monster got named "Frankenstein" and since it's public domain, that comic is cannon. So his name is "Frankenstein" and people can stop being pedantic and s****y about it.

In one of his interviews, Kristian mentioned using humor to address serious topics such as mental health, technology, and politics in his comics. We asked the artist if there are any specific issues or events in recent years that have particularly inspired or influenced his work.

"In recent years I’ve been way more entrenched in the fascinating mess that is American politics, specifically how Trump got elected and how the pandemic was handled," Kristian replied. "However, that certainly does not necessarily translate all that well to humor and comic strips. Also, on a more personal level, my dad passed away a couple of years ago, and it has certainly been the hardest thing I’ve gone through. It has also made me think and reflect a lot about the absolute absurdity of our own mortality and what we leave behind after we’re gone. This has resulted in some comics specifically about that topic, but also sillier comics as a counterpoint."

but... what if it starts paying though?

Maintaining inspiration over the long term, particularly during challenging periods, is a common concern for many artists. We asked Kristian how he stays motivated, especially during times of uncertainty or creative blocks.

"Finding inspiration has also been a struggle in recent years for me, and I’ve occasionally found myself just doing some personal pieces of art for no one else to see. I’ve also been focusing a lot more on improving my physical health lately, which also is taking up more time at the expense of making comics. Lately, this has affected my productivity for comics, but hopefully, I can manage to find a better balance for all these things. For me, they are equally important as tools to manage creative blocks and stay healthy on both a physical and mental level."

Last night, there was a pen on my nightstand, my cat, jumps up and knocks in down, I pick it up, she knocks it down again, I pick it up, and this goes on for a while. Eventually, I just grab the pen and throw to across the room and give up. That night while I’m sleeping, my cat decides to just play with it for hours, picking it up and dropping it and batting it around. Sorry this was long

I like the "Science is amazing" heading.

If you're an aspiring comic artist who is just starting out, Kristian has some advice for you:

"If you’re starting out, just do whatever makes you happy! Don’t worry about 'finding your style' right away. Your style will eventually develop naturally over time, or not at all, which is fine too! Also, don’t deprive the world of your ideas just because you’re waiting for the right moment or for your ability to execute them to catch up. Sure, you’ll stumble a bit, but that’s OK!"

Easter was a pagan holiday for fertility and rebirth. Rabbits where prominent because of their fertile nature. When Christians invented their holidays they picked days that would most easily convert pagans. So instead of Easter being about nature and life being reborn in spring, Jesus was reborn. The reality is everyone but Christians get it right with the bunny.

Imagine if you will for a moment; from today you start aging in reverse, your parents get younger, you get younger, your children.... pets.. everyone. Your days are normal, you are happy your grandma's alzheimers is releasing its claws and as this reverse process recedes over time, you notice your child slowly shrinking-becoming emotionally unstable, face smoother.. And you cant help but dread the last day you and your child share a mutual hug before they are gone forever into the abyss of coos and babbles

Not quite. I have had my code compile on the first try once in 30 years of programming. Now whether the compiled code did what I wanted on that first try...or any early try...let's just say that for any complicated code, it is easier to redefine what you want to what the code does than to get the vote you do what you originally wanted.

Any Friday, including the 13th, is good luck. On the other hand, Monday the 13th is very very bad!

Perhaps I'm wrong here, but I've never heard of a gang of gay people murdering someone because the someone was straight.

My parents were really into Halloween. They had black lights, costumes, music, the whole bit. The number of times Mom had to take off her mask to make sure the littlest ones weren't too scared to get candy, though!

BP censors certain words it finds offensive, replacing letters with asterisks. Some try for reacharounds by alternate spellings (ashhole shiit, etc.) or diacrital marks like the umlaut over the F-word above. Backwards spelling is apparently another potential device for asterisk avoidance, based on the comments above. I may have unintentionally released the Kraken of cussing. Not that it would be a bad thing.
