Lainey Molnar: Artist Drawing Societal Comics About Modern Woman Life
Interview With ArtistLainey Molnar's art becomes the canvas for reflecting society, portraying the modern woman’s journey in a world pulsating with diverse narratives. The artist fearlessly navigates through the pressures that women face daily. With her thought-provoking comics, she challenges the norms and celebrates honest womanhood.
The illustrations serve as a fun yet profound exploration of various topics, from traditional expectations to contemporary dialogues around feminism, body image, abortion, mental health, social stereotypes, relationships, etc.
Overall, each girl can relate to Lainey Molnar's comics, as the artist aims to inspire and empower women. Would you like to know more about the artist and look at some feminine-inspired illustrations? You are at the right place, so we better start, shall we?
Who Is Lainey Molnar?
According to the web search results, Lainey Molnar's real name is Lainey D. Molnár. She is a Hungarian living in Amsterdam, Netherlands. As social media doesn't reflect reality nowadays, Lainey successfully spreads social messages through her Instagram. Lainey began posting her art on Instagram in October 2019.
Eventually, she stepped away from social media due to persistent online harassment. During the COVID-19 pandemic, she began sharing the signature drawings she became known for. Some were portraits of people like Meghan Markle, Lady Gaga, and Emma Watson. Best known for her comics, Lainey is also a motivational speaker, owning her online course Soul Sister Academy.
Furthermore, a Lainey Molnar meme was created, the Laineyball. It’s an exploitable meme character based on Lainey Molnar. 4chan, the popular image board community, was the platform where it went viral. Laineyball and 4chan users intend to annoy the author by making it more popular than the original comic.

Condoms ARE uncomfortable! I imagine they don't feel too comfortable for a woman either. [Start Dodgy infomercial voice now] That's why you need... LUBE. Simply place a little inside the condom for more comfortability for YOU, and plenty on the outside for your partner. Don't forget to trim your pubes to avoid 'snagging'. LUBE! I have a PhD, work full time at a university as as scholar and project manager and also work in a café/bar on weekends (just because I enjoy the company and change of scenery; scholars can be really dull). It*s really amusing how SOME people treat me differently, depending on the context. Helps determine who is cool and who is not. Moral? Always treat others with respect
What’s The Creative Process Behind Lainey Molnar Comics?
The artist told Bored Panda she has a miles-long list of illustration ideas on her phone: “I sometimes literally wake up in the middle of the night to write down new ones, and I grab my phone to make notes at any point when I see something inspiring.”
When she sits down and draws that idea from the list, she finds it resonates with the moment. As Lainey sometimes loves to binge-watch TV shows while drawing, she says: “Still, usually, I like to create an ambiance, like candles, incense, and good music, because I believe the vibes and emotions also go into every artwork.”
Is Lainey Molnar Art Personal?
When asked whether she has any personal favorites from her illustrations, Lainey said it’s the one where she compares “someone with physical health struggles” and “someone with mental health struggles.”
The artist shared that this is because it’s a very personal one. Lainey admits she struggled with her mental health for over 18 years. So, she is the one who knows how complicated it can be living with this invisible illness.
Even though Lainey usually explores female empowerment topics straightforwardly or funnily, the artist also adds, “Still, at the end of the day, we are all simply human beings. I find it crucial to address stigmatized topics because it gives so many of us relief to know that we aren't alone.”
Because looking pretty for that one random guy in the street is every woman ever's purpose, of course /s
The very definition of natural is 'existing in or derived from nature'. Your body is natural until you have an unnatural change. Pregnancy is one of the most natural things there is!
I needed this. I’m short and flat and small for my age. When someone says they’re jealous I always think they are joking.
agreed, i'm average and short, can't find any nice clothes to fit my B cups and big af ass.
And both require a lot of hard work, practicing, and other words that I'm not smart enough to know. (I used to be a ballet dancer and Im assuming about the other one...)
What Motivates Modern Women Like Lainey?
Motivation and creative block are some of the most crucial topics for all modern women, especially artists. Lainey hasn’t had to experience creative block very often. The illustrator claims she simply has too much to say: “In an ideal world, a lot of what I’m communicating would be obvious, but as we’re not there yet, I don't mind processing the same pain points over and over again via a visual medium.”
Lainey is thrilled about the feedback she gets, as she says it’s “overwhelmingly positive.” Of course, that would drive any artist’s self-esteem, right? So, Lainey’s case is also not an exception, as she finds feedback as an endless source of motivation.
I can confirm. After having spent 35 years of insecurity over different aspects of my body, now that I am pregnant and my body is growing another human being, I'm astonished and very very satisfied with my body even though it has changed enormously.
What Influences Lainey’s Art?
Artists like Adam Ellis, Tiny Moron, and Wowocomics inspire Lainey. She says: “They all have very different styles and a very different sense of humor, but I think it always comes down to personality that shines through the art, so there is space for all unique creators to show how they perceive the world.”
Looking at these artists from Lainey’s perspective, she values vision and purpose over technical skills such as anatomy or shading.

Load More Replies...Just saying it's never a good idea to wear both earbuds in. Awareness is very important no matter who you are.
Take out both ear buds. Straighten your back, hold head high, keep your bloody hands free of phones or whatever. Keep your keys turned through your knuckles like brass knuckles. Try to always look confident. These are some rules my big brother gave me when I went off to college. He was special forces and he taught me quick but effective ways to defend myself. Keeping your head up and being confident sends a don't mess with me message. If you have to use the kick to the coconuts, make sure you kick them HARD! Push "those coconuts into his throat" hard. Then when they are down, kick them again in the eyes, face or into the side of a knee. You want them unable to see or run after you. Best trick he taught me was when grabbed, swing around quick enough to surprise him, men don't expect a fight, quick him as I described and when his head is coming down to grab himself, bring your other knee under his chin to snap his head back. Once that's done take off grabbing your cell to call 911.
This is the best one IMHO. SOOOOOO TRUE!!! Always be on guard. Though I'd recommend against anything that'd block hearing including just one earbud. I'd also text a friend ahead of time so they know when you are arriving and to look out for you/know when you should have arrived if you go missing or if something happens. If going to a venue or bar or busy place I also ask for a male friend to meet me outside as to not be harassed when passing drunks, hoards of dudes, etc. on the way in. Park under/near street lights. Look and listen & be aware of anyone who may be around you before going to unlock your car or bike. Get in quick & lock the doors. If biking, go as fast as possible through darker areas. Keep focused. If walking, try to not look female if possible. Keep your hair tucked. Walk fast. Have keys in grip and be ready to shank! <3 Get home safe! <3 Text friends to let them know you made it home.
This is sad. Where I'm from (I live in Copenhagen, Denmark), most women don't feel that they have to be THAT careful. At least that's my impression. I don't think I know anybody who "arms" themselves. As for me personally, I'm in my fourties, and I've only felt unsafe outside at night a handful of times in my life.
I lived in Copenhagen the first 40 years of my life and only once felt unsafe. A man was following me, and that made me not want to go directly home, så I went down a different street. He still followed and the fear made me very angry so at last I turned around and hissed at him to leave me alone. That is when I found my eyes would shoot lightning when I was that angry. It was mirrored in his eyes. He literally backed off and went away.
Load More Replies...This aint just women. I'm a 32 male, 6'"1 and 250 pounds. Walking home at midnight downtown last night I had my hands out of my pockets, earbuds were put away, eyes up and alert, while only sticking to well-lit areas. It's a matter of safety.
It is really annoying when guys want to compare notes with a female's world, especially with your height and weight. You may get robbed and hit, but MOST likely not kidnapped or raped and then made to feel like its your fault because you were out at night. Get real. You may be cautious and aware, but it would be nothing compared to what a female has to be. Safety is a given for everyone, but females have it way much harder than you and that is in anywhere they go.
Load More Replies...Actually women should walk like in the left hand side picture...All I can think is this: predators will only approach a woman that either looks lost, insecure or is drunk or tipsy. Because they appear vulnerable. If you stand up proud, back straight, head up high and walk and act like you own the street, the likelyhood of becoming a target would probably decrease...on the other hand don't take my word for it...I have employed this throughout my life and so far has worked. I walk place on my own at night all the time, in various more or less dodgy areas. Rarely felt in danger. My friends keep telling me they can hear me coming by the way I walk...as If with each step I dig my heels into the tarmac and the ground shakes. Walk tall and proud like you mean business ladies! Wear heels and shoes with auditory impact. Predators are by nature cowards and only go for vulnerable individuals. If you seem as if you will put up a fight, they won't consider it.
Do you really think they see a woman like the one you describe and they will say "Oh, this is a business woman, we don't have to rob her, let's go for someone else"? No! They always try to follow you and wait for a moment in which you are alone/vulnerable and attack you
Load More Replies...If I'm walking somewhere by myself, and I know it's going to get dark, I take my big black dog with me that barks at everything and everyone because he wouldn't hesitate to bite someone if I was in danger.
They shouldn't NEED a dog or mace, or anything to defend themselves. We all should be able to walk anywhere, any time safely.
Modest clothing doesn't help. I always wear both headphones so I don't have to respond to any weird men.
You dont keep the keys or spray in your pocket. You keep it in hand to use quickly.
Now its not even safe to walk like the second picture in the day
in my country I can walk home in miniskirt at 3am drunk and noone would even notice me... one of the few great things about this place
I travelled alone and stayed in after dark, because it was wisest. Now I realize it was because I am female
Looking behind her! Under cars) her vehicle. On phone already with someone?and no earbud. Be on that phone with whoever you got to get u through a walk bc really it takes half a second for some ass to sneak behind u n hot u unconscious. At least if you're already on the phone with someone, if u don't respond/ they hear astruggle, they'll be able to call police. ? And unfortunately tell them beforehand where u are ECT. If not. If applicable. Have 911 ready to dial? Idk yep things woman thinks about when walking home in dark Even few blocks down or whatever
Courtney Barnett's tune "Nameless Faceless" is about this subject, and she quotes from Margaret Atwood.
In Bulgaria, they actually do walk like in the left pic and it is safe.
Assaults are usually in social situations. Being randomly assaulted on the street, while not unheard of, is actually pretty uncommon. Men are more likely to be physically assaulted when walking around. On the other hand, men are also more likely to be out at night and in places that are potentially dangerous. I like the pepper spray though. if someone randmly attacks you, it is absurd you have to do an internal calculation of how much force to use to escape when you don't know what the attacker's intentions are (and even if you did there is no guarantee they won;t cause more harm then they inted to) The consequecnes for the attaxk should be on the person attcking. Too often the self defense laws as they exist put the onus on the victim to figure out the right amount of force while they are in fear. Pepper spray is good defensive weapon that won't get you in trouble with the law. One has to be careful wielding it however as if not used quickly an assailant ca grab it from
All people should be able to walk safely at night. Many years ago, my best friend was wearing modest clothing - a sweatshirt, regular jeans, and a bomber jacket, but because she is tall, and had short hair at the time, she was mistaken for a gay man, and took a baseball bat ( aluminium, not wood, luckily ) on the head. She recovered and is absolutely fine. They never caught those wastes of oxygen.
We will give our daughters the safe and secure world our mothers couldn’t give us.
I LOVE this artist ....she is a realist at & shows a logical side of illogical reality w/a bit of ironic humor
It’s talking about that one out of every four women will experience sexual harassment

Am I the only person who is not afraid to walk home at night? There's only been a few instances where I've checked I'm not being followed, but that's usually after I've read something like this.
Yeah I dont go out into the night anymore. It does not matter what you wear nor the practices you make to keep yourself safe, someone dedicated to harming a person will not be swayed. Unless you have a weapon. And only if you use it.
It's human nature and no amount of political cartoons or complaining is going to change it, especially when we now have mayors and prosecutors who are refusing to arrest criminals (or let them right back out within hours with no bail or jail) unless they've committed murder. Because the criminals tend to look a certain way and people claim it's racist to punish them for hurting others. So women, we better get used to staying home at night or get over your feelings about carrying a firearm. Until we start calling out bad behavior and violence - no matter what color you are, what background you come from or how rich/connected you - it's just going to get worse. And honestly, if you care about improving society, you have to tell people it's wrong - no matter what - to put your hands on another human being.
This should read how PEOPLE should be able to walk at night. Men arent safe out there either.
25% of females experience sexual harassment, that’s why

One of Lainey’s most significant projects was releasing a book Mating in Captivity: Reconciling the Erotic and the Domestic. As she has worked in publishing and was a blogger for more than a decade, the artist claims herself as a “huge bookworm.” Hence, captions in Laine’s art play an equal role as the illustrations themselves.
Daily, she shares her art with her one million followers on her Instagram. Lainey keeps her comics consistent, exploring the same social topics and keeping an authentic style, as she claims: “I really hope that I can create something magical that will help women be happier and more liberated from societal expectations.”
Reflecting The Modern Womanhood
Lainey Molnar isn't just an artist but a voice of her generation. Suppose you’re looking for your daily dose of motivation. In that case, her feminist motivational quotes reflect the essence of modern womanhood, with all its joys and challenges. This is what makes Lainey’s comics so relatable to millions of women.
There's so much stigma with divorce, even when it's a good thing. I hate being a person who got a divorce, but I love the life I am building for myself now.
Exactly! I've always thought those lights were terrible! Isn't that a marketing fail? I'd guess it would be smarter to use flattering lights ( and mirrors) so you look good, think the garment you're trying is also flattering and therefore buy the garment. If I look awful I'm definitely not prone to buy it...

In doing my little part to adress societies double standards, I did NOT raise my sons to see femails as trophies or conquest. I know this will sound old fashioned, but I have encouraged them to wait for marriage. I know that isn't going to happen, but it's a good baseline. As for my daughter. At 9 years old she is one belt away from her Black Belt in TKD, and I have been teaching her hand to hand and take down for self defense. I also take time to explain the physical advantages women have in situations. She also does jazz and tap dance. In short I won't have to be one of those dads who threatens her dates. We are raising a strong and confident young woman.

It's important to note that screens, especially before bed, a bad sleep routine, a lack of physical movement & sunshine, and a bad diet contribute significantly to poor mental and physical health.
After my son was born, I had so many people ask me how I lost the baby weight so quickly. It was actually Grave's disease--an autoimmune disorder that attacks the thyroid and one symptom is unintended weight loss. I went from 130lbs pre-pregnancy (healthy) to 150lbs during pregnancy (also healthy) to 110lbs about 8 weeks post pregnancy (very unhealthy). It was awful.

That doesn’t mean men aren’t important and have their own issues. Secondly, stop fat shaming and beauty shaming people. That’s just twisted. Third of all, women are just a s capable as man. Abuse occurs from all angles. It's not just male on female, as women so wrongly proclaim (which is just a way to deflect from their own disgusting behaviors and attitudes). Abuse from a female is absolutely real, and happens a lot more than people think. I'd say they're actually more mentally abusive than males are overall. These kinds of cartoons ignore facts like that while at the same time try to claim they're about some kind of "equality" thing. Nope. It's about being the same way you claim men are, the actions of which you claim to hate. It's called hypocrisy and double standards.
