The Way This Cat Returns Home After Going Missing For 5 Years Is More Unbelievable Than This Fact Itself
True friendships always find a way of lasting. Nguhi Muturi from Dallas, Texas, got a kitty when she was only nine years old. “I loved him to pieces and used to write about him for every daily journal entry in school,” she told the Press Association. “We adopted him when he was a kitten months after we moved into this home.” Nguhi and Panther happily lived together until the girl grew up and had to leave for college. However, during this time, Panther left as well.
“He slipped out of the house and never came back.”
After a while, Nguhi made peace with her loss and moved on. Five years and a few crazy twists of fate later, a cat resembling Panther showed up at the Muturi’s house. After Nguhi’s parents got suspicious, they organized a thorough paw inspection. You see, their long-lost feline had no claws on his front paws. And by an amazing twist of fate, the cat was Panther, hanging out in the same spot he used to, five years after he went missing.
It turns out that after he ran away, Panther was taken to a shelter in a city 15 miles away. Whilst there, a woman adopted and kept him for a few years before giving him to her parents. As luck would have it, the woman’s parents also turned out to be the next door neighbors of Nguhi’s parents.
“I can’t believe this is real because I am still in shock,” Nguhi wrote on Twitter. The neighbors insisted Panther should stay with her former owners, but they decided this was not possible and gave him back, since a new cat and dog were already growing up in their home. “It was heartbreaking but I can’t even be sad [because] today was truly surreal.”

Nguhi got a kitty when she was 9-years-old and called him Panther
They lived together until 5 years ago when Panther just disappeared
After a while, Nguhi made peace with her loss and moved on. Until this happened
Gladly, she was able to find out the truth behind Panther’s unbelievable reappearance

Share on FacebookWait.....what? Declawed the front paws of your cat? That's terrible. I so want to be touched by this story, but can't get over this terrible kink in the story. Declawing. Why would you want your cat to suffer just so he....what? Doesn't accidentally scratch you? I'm just flabbergasted. Please read up on what you do to your cat when you declaw his paws, even if it's 'only' the front.
I completely agree with you. I cannot be "touched" by this story after knowing that these people declawed the poor animal. The procedure is inhumane, painful, and should be illegal. It's exactly the same as if a doctor were to cut off the final phalanges off your fingers: your entire fingertips! Fortunately, it's illegal in Catalonia, where I live (cutting dogs' ears and tails is also illegal--any form of mutilation). Another thing: didn't the family try asking at shelters if anyone had found their cat? No, I just can't with this story. This beautiful creature deserved much better.
Load More Replies...Perhaps you may let the cat decide where it wants to live. And it could also be a parttime cat. And ... please please please never ever declaw a cat! They can't climb without claws, they can't defend themselves outdoors, they can't catch their prey. They can't be cat!
Declawing is a terrible thing to do to your cat - imagine if someone cutted off your fingers , because that´s how the cat feels...........
Wtf she declawed him?! They literally take out bones in the cat's paws to do that. It's torture for them. I was happy for the woman at first but after reading that...
You screwed up the whole story with the declawed thing. You should have never had him.
I'm also disgusted by the declawing. What kind of an ignorant person would do that!
I had a black cat named Shadow during my childhood who ran away. He was missing for almost 2 years and just showed back up...on Halloween night!! Black cats are special.
Cats do that. I lived in the country as a child. We had numerous cats that went missing for a couple years. Then one day they are on the front porch like they'd been there the entire time.
Load More Replies...If you declawed your cat, or are thinking about it, go get your nails ripped off. Then think again, if you want to have your pet suffer the same. Just cause the cat can't say IT HURTS, doesn't mean he is okay with mutilation.
They should make this into a movie or cartoon, WITHOUT the declawing bit! WHy the f**k would you do that to someone! Happy for you to be renunited with your cat, but F**K whoever made the decision to declaw him (most probably your parents, since you were only 9 when you got him)
Im glad your cat has found a happy and wonderful home, but declawing is absolutely wrong. Stop doing this to your pets!
SHE didn't declaw her cat. She got him as a child so it obvoiusly wasn't her choice. Declawing is awful but this story is so nice. :)
Would you cut your fingers off at the last joint? Well that’s what declawing is. Barbaric and human. Cant cope with a few scratches, too tight to buy a cat tree. DO NOT GET A CAT. Standard.
The reason why he left, cause everybody was too busy of their school and work, and they forgot about Lil Panther, so he was mad and left. That's why Microchip is VERY important, save all these dramaz and headaches. She should look for institute of scientific animal communication to see what's really going on with his adventure.
Something similar happened with my cat Sugar. We had temporarily moved into an apartment that didn't allow pets while our house was being built, and so my sister was looking after her until we could take her back. Sugar escaped, and eventually found her way to our old house in our old neighbourhood a year later. Please kiss Panther on the head for me.
She declawed the cat? Remove this, she does not deserve the attention.
Our neighbor had a cat that was friends with our cat. They move 15 miles away, and their cat disappeared. Two weeks later she appeared on our back porch! We called them and they took her back. But she escaped again, and two weeks later showed up on our porch a SECOND TIME! Then they realized you can't deny true love, so she became our cat.
Can't we enjoy the nice story instead of focusing on a detail that her PARENTS MADE, not HER? She was 9 y/o; she had no say in the declawing.
Yes. And with specific details on the declawing scene.
Load More Replies...SO that leaves me a little hope that my beautiful Pyewacket (NOT declawed, and unfortuneately not neutered) - may show up again? I don't live in the same house, but I AM right across the road. He's identical to this beauty <3
I still can't understand how your neighbours didn't know you've lost a cat. And how you didn't know that they've had that cat for a year. When I lose a cat, I put out posters everywhere, I talk to everybody, especially neighbours, how could this have happened?? I'm glad you got your closure, it must be the worst thing ever to not know and just imagine the worst. It's why I could probably never have a loose cat, outdoor cat. I'd worry all the time.
first off, awesome naming skills, 'panther' and 'trotsky', I mean, you deserve all the animals in the world if you're gonna name them things like that. and secondly, this is just, awesome. fate. how have disney not been in touch yet?
How would you feel if your parents removed the first joint of your fingers? Declawing a cat is torture. Honestly people like you and your family disgust me.
I had my cat named tabby run away plus my one all black kitten named midnight died.
Wow & I had a similar black cat come back after many months! We had just moved to the country from the city. I was so bummed he disappeared and feared he had been killed. It was so sweet to have him back! Black cats are the best! R.I.P. kitty:)
Omg I have a cat and I can totally can imagine what it feels like...
This is amazing and fulfilling. I'm so happy for you and the happy ending for all of those involved
There is NOTHING wrong with declawing your animal IF it is a full time indoor cat. There is NO reason to scream animal abuse and this woman did NOT "mutilate" her cat nor did she abuse her! Y'all just need to stop and think about something...**Everybody has their own lives and opinions. There was no abuse in this story, this woman does NOT deserve hate!!!*** If you're so against getting them declawed then get the little rubber tips to put on their claws....just stop spreading so much freak hate...it's senseless and stupid.
There's also the fact that people are comparing declawing to cutting your nails off??? No...thats not how it works...It's painless (since they're given medicine for it) and th dont cut off their toes or any flesh...dang guys...
