They say that a picture’s worth a thousand words. Well, some cakes are worth a thousand nightmares. Cakes are usually midnight-snack-fuel, but the Cakes With Threatening Auras Twitter shows us that they can be nightmare-fuel, too.

Scroll down, upvote the cursed cakes you liked the most, and let us know in the comments what the worst cake you’ve ever seen in your life was. Just make sure you’re not eating anything while you’re enjoying this list. I might have choked on my croissant when I saw some of these baked fails.

The Cakes With Threatening Auras Twitter account has more than 141k followers who came for the hilariously bad cakes and stay for the delicious(ly insidious) content. Meanwhile, in order to learn more about what not to do when baking cakes and where the line between good and bad cakes is, Bored Panda reached out to talented Canadian cake maker and designer Darci, founder of Kake by Darci. Scroll down for our interview with her.

Baker Darci told us all about the main major mistakes that people tend to do when making cakes. "I would probably say the most common mistakes are wrong order of ingredients added in to the recipe. Very important for baking as it’s a science!" she pointed out that we have to be very meticulous when baking.

Darci added that not weighing ingredients, as well as over- and under-mixing them can also be problematic. "All of these small factors can make or break the cake!"

According to the Canadian baker, the line between good and bad cakes becomes blurred if you overload them by adding too many unnecessary details. "I prefer simple designs and simple details. I feel like you can have a beautiful cake and go overboard with too much—flowers, candy, colors, textures. It can be a fine line between too much and not enough."

There’s also a Cakes With Threatening Auras Instagram page, but it has just over 5.8k fans. So it looks like most cursed cake lovers can be found over on Twitter rather than IG.

The CWTA page first popped up on Twitter in January 2020 and has been documenting awful, truly awful examples of cake fails ever since.

We’re pretty sure that some of these cakes were made to be intentionally bad. At least we hope. However, others were the results of clumsy mistakes (and maybe Fate messing with some unfortunate bakers). So here are some cake-baking tips to keep in mind so that you can avoid giving your baked goods threatening auras with icing.

Baking cakes is exactly like brewing potions at Hogwarts: you have to follow the instructions exactly, otherwise, you’ll mess things up. Unless you’re the Half-Blood Prince, don’t go about improvising. If the recipe says to add half a cup of sugar, don’t plop in a dozen teaspoons of caramel. You can experiment when you’ve got the basics down tight.

You should also try to avoid using stale baking powder and baking soda, according to The Spruce Eats. If you have any left at home that’s older than half a year, toss it out and get some new products. Otherwise, your cake might turn out to be a flop. This is where the importance of proper labeling comes in.

Something else to keep in mind is to not use cold ingredients. We know that you’re ready to make that amazing cake, but wait for your butter to warm up, so you won’t have globby chunks when you mix your ingredients.

Any single one of these mistakes could make the difference between a gorgeous cake and a cursed failure that gets noticed by the Cakes With Threatening Auras account.

Nice cake. I suspect that the caterer was told the buyer wanted nothing on top.

Okay, as a nonbinary person I'm not too into gender reveals. But all of that aside- who calls their unborn child a stud muffin? It's creepy

Good for you, babies don't get to decide that and until one is born looking like a barbie doll....

I'm really hoping this cake is for a swingers party, not a baby gender reveal

I mean...at least the cake looks delicious. But sexist quote. Also calling an unborn baby a stud is quite concerning...

I know it's exciting to find out the gender of your baby. I couldn't wait but ppl take it too far sometimes. Stud is a sexualized term. I've seen Tutus or touchdowns, Rifles or ruffles, guns or glitter. All awful and odd considering the gender reveal is literally just hey this is what genitals by child will be born with. The cake is well done tho.

To each their own, but when did this gender reveal stuff become a thing anyway? I mean, I remember people having balloons and a nice party with family and friends, but now it's like some kind of deranged competition.

How about instead of gender reveal parties where they say its a boy/girl! we say it has a penis/vagina! I hope my baby is happy!

Welcome to the internet. People will post things you don’t like. Some people like certain jokes, others think it’s offensive. I respect your opinion but it’s your opinion not mine.

Cameras adds 10lbs - cakes add 40lbs and distorts your body in places you didn't even know you had.
