When it comes to breastfeeding in public it seems that everyone has their own opinion, especially those who will never have to breastfeed. Well, some mom’s out there are standing up for their right to feed their children wherever they please and they don’t care if you want them to ‘cover up.’

Recently, Carol Lockwood took to Facebook to share a hilarious photo of her friend’s daughter-in-law and her genius response to a man who asked her to ‘cover up’ while breastfeeding. I just cant fathom the people who are against feeding hungry babies in public - would a mother be expected to hide just to give a child a bottle??

Seriously let women do what they need to do. You want an horrible crying baby next to your table or an heathly baby quietly against her mother ? And we don't even see her nipple... Are we criticizing men when they take off the shirt ??? And some men have definitely a bigger pair of breast than mind !

My son will rip a blanket off right now. He hates being covered in the least bit. I try to be as discrete as possible but he's not having any of it lol! People need to grow up and realize women have breast and they're for feeding babies. Why is it normal for men to show off their nips? I've seen men with bigger boobs than most women.

That is perfect - cant understand why nursing is so reviled. It is only since the invention of formula which gave women the option - y either paid a wet nurse to look after their baby - stayed at home for a year with the child or when neccessity was a factor took it into the fields and fed it as needed. How have breasts been sexualised to the point when it is regarded as obscene or offensive to use for the purpose they were intended for. Thee same people probably wouldnt bat an eyelid at a "tasteful" nude portrait (quick - hide the Reubens and the Titian) or wouldnt make a fuss over an accidental nip-slip in a tabloid newspaper - --- rant over

i bet this dude is happy to see half naked women in public in ads and media, and probably watches porn. the baby's head is obscures the view of the nipple most of the time and anyone who sees this as a sexual act or anything other than a baby getting fed is a sicko. And babies need air when they're breathing so don't cover them. also, JUST DON'T LOOK.

These are the same men that wouldn't hesitate to harass a woman who had her breasts bared in any other scenario, or wouldn't hesitate to assault a woman because they feel that it's their "right" and think they own every woman's body. These are the same men that want women to cover up when giving necessary nutrition, but would cat call and tell a woman to "take it off" otherwise. These are the same men that don't hesitate to hide in dark corners and prey on women and girls. Men...just shut up and keep walking. People who tell them to cover up really don’t know much do they? Women who don’t empty out the milk from their breasts can get health problems, and it can be bad for the baby too, I for one, didn’t get enough milk as a baby and my mother had to get me the formula (was it because I was a premature baby?) so imagine a very hungry baby who needs food like right then and there and someone tells them basically “nope, if you’re going to breastfeed you have to cover up and overheat the child because it’s 90 degrees outside” I for one don’t think these women were wrong, I feel they did the right thing caring for the child before people’s opinions.

Especially when it's not a public place, but a restaurant, which is privately owned, with a dress code and rules you must follow if you want to eat there. Somehow all women in my family managed to schedule stuff around the feedings and when they had to do it in public, they were discreet, because honestly it's an intimate thing between the mother and baby. In Europe you only see gypsies and white trash super-moms feeding their babies like this, it's so distasteful and tacky to purposefully do it, which they do, even if they deny it (sometimes even 7 years old children, that's even more f****d up) A little planning and discretion goes a long way.

It's also natural to blow your nose, scratch itches in strange places, check to see if your deodorant is working, all totally legal to do in public.... Most people excuse themselves and do it somewhere privately though, not take snapshots and post it all over the internet. No one wants to see a pic of me scratching my butt in a restaurant do they?

The eternal s**t about covering up or not covering up...For me it's easy, if there are tits involved, keep them to the close family...not talking about babies and stuff. Why if there's no baby involved, tits in the open cause an outrage? Wtf is so difficult to grasp? No one is against feeding babies, but everybody is against flip-flopping tits all over.

I don't have a problem with breastfeeding as long as it's done discreetly. I find it very disturbing and rude when a woman just takes their boobs out. Some women do it more for exhibitionism than for feeding the baby.

This happened in a mall i was at with my husband. Right in the Food Court. I didn't say anything but it does seem to be getting out of control. Due to medical issues i can't have children and didn't need this lady doing this which her baby who was screaming when it wasn't eating all on display. People need to respect those who can't have kids for whatever reason. We don't want it on display everywhere.

In my opinion, women should be able to breastfeed in public whenever they need to, covered or not covered. But if someone comes over and says they are uncomfortable with it and would appreciate if they would cover up, then the woman should. The person isn't body-shaming them, nor are they saying breastfeeding is wrong, they are just saying that they feel uncomfortable seeing someone breastfeeding in public and request that they cover up.

No, they don't. And if you find it rude and disturbing, you ahould find a way to deal with your own hangups. Find out why you feel that way about breasts

Pass a law allowing women to breast feed where ever they want. Problem over.

Allowing? Is it forbidden? I'd say "protecting" is a better word. Anyway, not bad of an idea.

We don't want it on display everywhere.

what does your inability to have children have to do with the woman in the food court breast feeding? Also, she's in a food court... and the baby was eating... and babies cry...

The child has priority not a stranger who evidently has a problem with vital and human needs.

Hmm...wonder what she looks like? That's usually the deciding factor if breastfeeding in public is acceptable or not.
